    Hi Peter, thanks for the great video. One should be careful NOT to engage the "recondition" mode of a charger while the battery is connected to the electric system of the car because in this mode the charger uses higher voltage peaks than in the normal charging mode. This can (and has in the past) destroy electronic components in the car! In the video you are using the MXS 5.0 model of ctek. This has no "supply" mode, which you need for operations with the IID Tool, which take a longer time, to prevent the battery from discharging. The charger you have linked is the right one, because the model MXS 10 has this supply mode. Thanks for this useful link!
    Keep on "DISCOVERING" and reporting. Thanks.

      Hi @EGE-hoj! Thank you very much for your input! Then I will exchange my MXS 5 right away. (I have added it to the video in the description.)
      because I thought it would be possible to maintain both battery power without supply mode. Especially as the IID tool also shows a higher voltage during the charging process, or this also remains constant over a longer period of time. All the best, Peter

    Thank you, very good information. I have one question, do you need some adapter to connect the gap to LR4 -2013?

    Another very informative video my friend, this is one my list of things to buy for the disco, but like you say, it's expensive, and the price is delaying the purchase, it will come in handy tho, and the wife has just got herself a discovery sport, so I'm sure it'll get used on that too.
    Have a good one.. 👍

      Hello @beenzer! Yes I know it's not cheap, but it has already saved me a lot of money because of the things mentioned in the video. And I think if you still have a Land Rover, it will certainly pay for itself. By the way, I had a Discovery Sport myself before! It cost almost 100€ to read out the error! Have a nice Sunday, Peter

    Can I have more info in regards the plug you have had installed on your Disco in order to connect the battery charger.
    Many Thanks 👍

    The price is a killer. Question where do you get the physical key cut? Is the key cut at specialist locksmith and you program the key?

    • @notthatkindofachannel
      @notthatkindofachannel  11 месяцев назад +1

      The price is quickly put into perspective if you have a few problems with the vehicle, as Land Rover in this country wants €120 for a one-off deletion of faults. Yes, just take the key to a locksmith and have it replaced for a few €, $... etc.

    Hi Peter, could you make a video on how to level the Discovery for Camping with the GAP IID tool? I often read about it but never found a good explanation on how to do it.

      Hey @OhTenenbaum, thanks for the input! I think this is a good idea and I’ll figure out how to show this is done in an easy way! All the best for you, Peter

    Hi, can it lift the car more than the normal HI mode? Will it override the EAS in case of a failure? Thank you. Great video 👍

    • @notthatkindofachannel

      No, unfortunately, it cannot be calibrated beyond the working range of the sensors. However, the driving height etc. can be adjusted. All the best, Peter

    Are you using IIDTOOL G3 or with the PRO G3 in this film?

      Hey, I’m using the IID Tool G3. The pro version would be too much for me as a private person. Greetings, Peter

    Hi Peter, I just received the iid Tool from another disco 4 owner that doesn‘t know how to use it. Did I unterstand you correctly that I need to pay about 70 bucks to use it on my lr4? Any suggestions on how I can get started w/ this Bluetooth device? Best, Reto

    • @notthatkindofachannel
      @notthatkindofachannel  Год назад

      Hello, yes, that is correct! You need to buy another license for each car you add. If you have the Pro version, this is not necessary. Best to you, Peter

      My answer may be a but late for you but:
      Only the "advanced programming functions" are VIN locked. So you cannot flash ECUs or alter some settings.
      Diagnostic functions are VIN lock free. So you can diagnose faults, read and clear codes on all supported LR vehicles.
      An IIDTool BT G3 or 4 could even be used in a workshop on customer cars as it is still more powerfull than a lit of stand-alone diagnostic system

    Nothing personal, but today in this world if I can control "hate" (height) level, I would buy it in a hart beat. LOL. Seriously. Can I use this tool to program a new or used TCM module?

    • @notthatkindofachannel
      @notthatkindofachannel  2 года назад

      It should already be possible as long as the TCM corresponds to the same series. Because you can also flash them for improvements or updates. I can't say for sure, but I could ask GAP if you want. All the best

    I would have liked the tool, but it’s hard to justify the price for an old vehicle that isn’t valued that much more.

      Engine starting is not essential to the fulfilment of several short tasks. Longer tasks should be done with the engine running and therefore must be done outside to avoid the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
      Probably re read your manual again bud. Who knows what else you may have missed.

      Hey, hey! Well, the new models are already supported if you look at the GAP website. It just takes a little while until all functions are finally available. But in my opinion this is not due to GAP Diagnostic but rather to Land Rover, which does not like to provide information about their vehicles for independent workshops etc..

    • @Mac_F87
      @Mac_F87 Год назад +1

      It’s the same for most newer cars. VAG changed protocols so now VCDS has limited functionality on newer models. Manufactures are doing it to make it harder for independent garages unless they buy access to the main server and use their software which costs ££££ not to mention make it even harder for us DIY guys.
