Peter you would have already dented Land Rover business, and aptly so. Last week I got them to diagnose my LR4 and they slapped me with an estimate of 13,000,00 in Indian currency or £ 14,000 for some cosmetics, suspension and turbo replacement. Thank you for your guidance bro.
Now I have to have my own GAP tool. Thanks for the hint👍. About distance for the rear wheels. The App mentioned 485 mm (not 458 mm 🙃). Keep going, your videos are very useful.👏
Hi @Thomas! Cool! Yes, the tool is really useful when it comes to such trifles! Oh, did I pronounce the distance wrong? Because in the video I gave the rear distance as 485mm, at least as text. 🤭Sorry for that!
Gap IIDtool is a must imo. Had restricted performance mode come on, ran the diagnostic codes showing fuel rail pressure low, changed the fuel filter and all fixed.
Yes, I totally agree with you. If you are planning to buy a Land Rover, buy an IID tool as soon as possible and you can avoid a lot of headaches! 😉 Greetings, Peter
@Stevottty Glad I could help! I think there will be a few more videos on the Discovery 4 / LR4. Because there is always enough to do with this car and its extensions 😄
hey bud done this 4 times now today, each time its complete i raise it then lower back to standard but all 4 sides either a inch to high or to low at random sides any idea whats going on here?
get an old plastic wheel centre slice a hole across the centre to fit the end of your tape measure in, then you just go around each wheel (no need to push the plastic centre right in) then you will get the tape measure in the same place with out the tape the hub centre is guaranteed.
Hi Peter, i have been watching your channel, it's brilliant, the question i have is, does your L4 have 2 batteries fitted in the engine compartment, keep the videos coming, regards Neville Slater, South Africa
Hey Neville, thank you very much! No, the black one in the video is from 2012 and didn't have a second battery. I think it was only available from the 2014 facelift. Yes, new videos are coming again! Unfortunately, I had a lot of other things to do over the summer. Best wishes and all the best from Austria to South Africa, Peter
What about tire pressures, is it critical to be set at factory suggestions? Is this not something that should be done/checked before doing calibration?
I wouldn't see it as critical, as the TPS would already be triggered if the tyre pressure was really too low. But it is generally advisable to work with the standard pressures and to check the tyres regularly anyway.
Hey there can that scan tool also tell you the transmision temperature, i wanna change my transmission fluid and it calls i need to read the temperature to top off?? Thanks for any reply
I think it is really important to do it before an alignment. The Discovery needs to be put into tight tolerance mode so that it is at the exact correct height while alignment is done. So if your Discovery isn't even calibrated to the correct ride height before then putting it into tight tolerance mode would just be pointless as the heights are probably out especially after any suspension or steering repairs which usually cause the need for an alignment. I would definitely do an air suspension calibration before an alignment and when you arrive at the alignment garage then put it into tight tolerance mode with IID tool. Don't drive for long in tight tolerance as this causes suspension wear/damage, so make sure it is put back into normal tolerance after the wheel alignment 👍 Also when doing a suspension calibration, only hit the last step on your phone/tablet while sat in the car so that you are ready to press up or down on suspension height control. Otherwise it times out on the iid tool and doesn't save the new adjustments of the heights.
I have a 2006 rrs supercharged... My car was fine and out of boredom i selected calibrate anti roll option then i got e7 error code and my red suspension light is on... Hey James! Please contact GAP support and tell them about your problem. There might be a problem with the software and the ECUs of the vehicle. I would also share the ECU information of your car with them. To do this, simply go to "ECU Info" in the IID tool on the start screen and then click on the share symbol. @@notthatkindofachannel Thanks for the reply Peter much appreciated I've sent that through hopefully I can hear back from them. Upon checking there is a lot of ecu upgrades I guess you have to pay for each update? Pretty sweet tool so far.
