Thanks! Heat shield was completely black and had levels of grime and fumes on it. Cleaned the shield and tightened the nut. Fingers crossed it stops smelling. On a side note, my nut didn't "extend upwards" like yours, but downwards, which made tightening quite hard.

Hi Peter I would like highlighted some crucial points for enhancing engine protection and performance. Using a more viscous oil like w50, which has a stronger base and fewer viscosity-improving polymers, is indeed beneficial for maintaining oil pressure under high oil temperatures, such as 110-120 degrees Celsius. While the fluidity difference between w40 and w50 oils is minor, the higher HTHS value and viscosity of w50 provide better protection. This is particularly important for demanding driving conditions like mountain roads or high-speed autobahns, where oil pressure can drop significantly without adequate viscosity. Lowering coolant and oil temperatures to the range of 80-90 degrees Celsius across all operating conditions is optimal. Replacing the thermostat with one that opens at a lower temperature, such as 82 degrees Celsius, is a good idea for maintaining optimal engine temperature. This modification helps ensure that the engine operates within a cooler temperature range, which can contribute to better performance and longevity, especially in hot climates or under heavy load conditions. Replacing the original oil pressure sensor with one that alerts you if oil pressure falls below 1 bar is a proactive step to safeguard engine health. Moreover, changing the oil every 5,000-6,000 kilometers ensures fresh lubrication and extends engine life. Replacing the oil pump every 100,000 kilometers with an original part is prudent for consistent performance. I hope this information is helpful.

to be honest this is my first time seeing a RR that looks like a LR3 ....hope I find one cause im looking for a new LR and are RR but god forbid not the newer models they are junk. in fact all the ones made before john wicks ,ones are the shit. after the movie they all suck

Nice video. Thanks. I am getting ready to do this on my 2015 Dynamic Evoque. It requires 0.9L of Castrol BOT270. What is odd is that in one section of the LR Service manual it says to remove and discard the drain and fill plugs (with no mention of the washers) and in another section of the manual it says to replace the washers with no mention of new bolts.

Very nice video. Did you measure how much you drained out? Everyone I have heard from that has done this claims they only get 1.8-2L out. I was hoping for 3 or 4L like you got. I have looked at the LR Service manual on Topix and it has some detailed procedure regarding checking the level. First you fill until it comes out the fill hole (like you did). But then you start the engine, press the brake, put it in reverse and wait 10s, then drive, then manual 1st, then manual 2nd and then park (waiting 10s with each change), then raise the RPM to 2000 RPM for 30 seconds. Return to idle and ensure that the transmission is between 95F and 113F. While the engine is idling, remove the fill plug and if fluid runs out, you are fine. If none comes out, then add more fluid until it runs out. I'm not sure how important this procedure is to checking the level.

Hi Peter, I have the same noise on the same side (2012 RRS SDV6) and, from what I have learned, this noise usually comes from the left side of the vehicle, is clearly audible from the wheel arch, and very little from above. Mine is coming only when the engine is in temperature but, that's weird, only after a drive. If I let the car warm up without driving, the noise doesn't appear. That raises a question: If it was one of the lifters the noise would occur no matter what, wouldn't it? Another one: the frequency of the noise is very far from one that a 24-valve lifter would sound, too low indeed, right? Since the noise tends to disappear as the revs go up, it's hard to state that the noise is coming from them, even assuming that the oil pressure rises with revs and cancels the gap. It's more like the sound of a chain, maybe the timing one where the variable phase operates with tensioners. And this will explain why the noise doesn't appear if don't drive the car but leave it warming up static. I will do some research and testing before tearing down that crap plastic covers to reach the cams. A nightmare. Thanks for your videos which I appreciate very much. Keep going. Cheers mate. Marco

My 2014 LR4 air suspension is just getting back to normal height after few minutes. For example, if I put it in the lower height, it will go to normal height after 0-10 minutes. The same thing when I put it in the higher height, it will go back to normal height after 0-10 minutes. What you guys think?

Great content Peter. I am trying to do the retrofit but cannot get the green auto symbol to show on the dash, even after updating the CCF using the GAP tool. Did you have auto or adaptive headlamps before the retrofit? Also, I saw that the CCF shall also be updated to rest of world? What do you think about that? Also if you take requests, fitting the memory function would be great 😀

J’étais à la castrol 5w30 edge j’avais pas de particule dans le filtre a 160000kms ensuite passé castrol magnatec 5w30 quelque particules dans le filtre a 180000kms puis là castrol magnatec dpf 45€ 5 litres le moteur sonne mieux et j’ai toujours quelques particule dans le filtre à huile a chaque vidange actuellement 211000 kms toujours des particules ds filtres est-ce du a l’huile magnatec je sais pas mais je fais vidange tout les 10000kms maintenant ! on verra bien jusqu’où il ira 3l v6 biturbo 245ch 2011

I dont understand to sell the better-looking lr4 to get another one, i own 07 lr3 and just bought a 04 D2 , the D2 has soild front and rear axles, which is excellent for lifting, excellent for offroad, i like the black lr4 better it gets very expensive to build a overland when you had everything on the black lr4 , im planning to buy a lr322 in future to build into a overland build you don't see many builds for ranger rovers even the 405 are becoming cheap to buy but the 405 is more rounded i like the square box look knobs & switches, having a computer monitor screen that controls everything not good if monitor goes bad 😊

I mounted the foam gasket on top of (outside of) the metal mounting plate. That puts foam between the snorkel and the body instead of the metal bracket against the body. it protects the wing and has a better seal.

I'm having the same issue + I can't send the ECU Info, it says I can't generate email because I need to have an email account. My account has an email added to it, it's wierd. I wrote to GAP Team, waiting for their reply.
