Great video MrNiceGuy maybe you should inform your viewers that performing a full carbon Clean will improve their MPG dramatically, mine if you remember was 40 ish mpg and now 58 mpg , it's a miracle maybe.
    All the best

I've just done the valve cover inspection thanks to your videos. All looking good no wear in the camshaft, oil shower is brownish, no carbon deposit, so i didn't remove any further. Oil pressure is ok, I will do and oil flush and leave like this for the moment. Car is already 200k hope to hit 300. Any recommendation for when to replace the timing chain? I'm glad to see your shop is going well, if i could bring you my car instead of doing it my self i would, don't trust the local dealership or know any trustworthy garage, last one told I shouldn't change the oil myself....

Wow buddy, thanks for the support! Appreciate it a lot.
We recommend replacing it around 150k miles. But that can vary depending how dirty is the cylinder head from oil sludge and carbon bits around the injector holes. If you can do it yourself I would recommend doing it around your current mileage just to prevent any bad things happening.

Yes please, I would like a tutorial on the oil pump suction filter replacement.
Could you use psi or Bar for pressures in your tutorials and videos please as we are on SI units here not Metric.
When you take injector flow readings what are the limits ( +/-) , so we know if the injectors are ok as using a tablet with Forscan software we can check the readings.
I was in touch with TopDon instruments regarding their code scanner and screen ( plus their jump kit) and they don't give as much detail without buying a very expensive scanner as you can with Forscan.

Hi Stuart, I use kpa because the scan tool reads in kpas. You can convert that into any unit of your preference.
The injector correction factors should be between -0.7 to +0.7 but closer to 0 the better

Hello and thank you for your great videos 👍 .
I also own famoust skyactiv-d carbon catching engine ;) CX-5, 2014. But so far so good 🤞. I have never removed valve cover. What i did so far was: changing injectors washers 2 times, cleaning oil strainer 2 times (yes i know is time for replacing) and regular services with oil change every 10.000km. Car has almost 260.000km and runs ok, mybe just dpf cleaning started soon as before (around 180km, before around 280km).
Is it possible to know if camshaft is worn out without removing valve cover?
I checked vacuum exhaust metal pipe and its blocked, do you mybe have tutorial how to remove it? I tried with wire, but no luck. I tried burning the soot (Kennedy advice :;) and its little better, but still not clean. Mybe i will trie also with some chemical over the night.
Is it possible to clean the soot under the valve cover, without disassembling the camshaft (of course if camshaft is still ok)?
I have also plan to clean dpf. Somebody give me advice for chemical (2 liters of water, in which 1 piece of dishwasher tablets, Home plumber liquid 1l, incl. 10% caustic soda, 2 liters of 10% hydrochloric acid) of course rinsing with water between cycles). What do you think?
If you will put on valve cover removal - part 2, i will be very happy.
Do you have tutorial of replacing timing chain?
Have a nice day. Regards, Samo

Unfortunately it’s not possible to inspect the exhaust camshaft without removing the valve cover because of the oil shower above it. But you can see if you have carbon build up by removing the inlet manifold temperature sensor and passing a camera down to the top of the intake shutter valve. Or take out the MAP sensor, if it’s clogged you have carbon build up.

@@Alan-qb6pd Understand, what about driving performance or any other symptoms if camshaft is bad?

    • @Alan-qb6pd
      @Alan-qb6pd 2 месяца назад +1

Frequent DPF regeneration and low mpg are the main symptoms. Slightly down on power and rougher idle too but not so as you would notice until it’s been changed.
