For people who don't know, you'd have to watch almost all of the Dorkly Pokémon videos to understand the Shuckle thing going on. It's really deep, and it makes you love Shuckle even more

The original reason you didn't receive the other starter in the red and blue (or green if you are from japan) is because the original final boss, Professor Oak, would battle you at the end of the game using that starter

You can actually fight professor oak later in the game who has the bulbisaur fully evolved at like level 80. Thats the theory behind the third one and where it goes

5:01 if you don’t get the reference, it’s joking about the “Pokemon meeting their evolutions” animation. It keeps on wanting to evolve, and at the end it pretty much dies and gets reborn as a ditto.

They DO have a password. It always tells you when you're "logging on" or "logging off" on the PSS. They just skip inputting the password for game play reasons, but it is there.

I imagine that a pokemon has to be concious to be able to be caught, cause think about it, in the games the second you catch them they instantly listen to you (ik if theyre over leveled they wont but shh)
So i imagine the reason why you cant catch them if they faint is cause it has to do something with conciousness, i imagine they wouldnt listen very well if they suddenly woke up in someone bag-
This is probably my favourite thing from Dorkly, just because of the friendship the trainer and Wcyther actually has
Not gonna lie, I figured his approach to the Snorlax would be to just throw a ball at it while it's sleeping. Like, if it's so deep in sleep that nothing short of a Poké Flute would wake it up, how the hell's it gonna fight against a Poké Ball?

Fun fact about the third in non chosen starter in Red and Blue, it was originally in a battle against Oak that was cut for unknown reasons.

They also faint the pokemon in the anime before catching them. I remember always being confused about that.
In the anime they often do catch Pokemon when they faint.
I know and that always bothered me we can't do it in the games like the anime does

I always figured that the reason for not being able to catch fainted Pokémon wasn't because it's impossible but because it's unethical.
It does seem kind of fracked up to be shit out of a Pokémon until it's out cold and then catch it. It just sounds more human to instead weaken/ tire it out before catching it.
That's just what I always believed was the reason.
They catch fainted Pokemon in the anime tho

The lore says that if a pokemon attacks you then it wants to join a trainer and its just testing you.

I'm guessing Dan is joking about Ash being a mediocre trainer, because Ash is pretty strong, which is especially shown in Pokemon Journeys. (Spoilers Ahead)
While Ash did lose against Bea, it did make sense because he was going against 2 experienced Fighting types while Ash was using 2 not so experienced Fighting types. Despite that, Ash is still a powerful trainer, beating the Frontier Brains, who were said to be E4 Level, and holding his own against Diantha for a short bit before collapsing in exhaustion. (Yes, Diantha was probably holding back.) Also, don't forget, Ash beat Guzma, who beat Illima, who had a Mega Kangaskahn and participated in the Kalos League which means Illima was at least Wulfric level, which shows Ash is pretty strong, as he did win against legendaries. But that's all I have to say. Feel free to agree or disagree.

I've always believed that the reason you can't catch fainted pokemon is because "fainting" is just a euphemism for dying.
My guess is that dying was the concept at first.
It's just that the developers realized they couldn't have people killing animals constantly.
So, they switched the word dying to fainting.

Ash is actually a pretty great Pokemon trainer and strategist in general tbh. He just makes a ton of stupid mistakes along his journeys (pun half intended lol).
What do you mean? Lol most of strategies involve brute forcing his way through battles when he's clearly at a type disadvantage 🤣
