I love that despite being clearly Neutral Evil, Red still genuinely cares about Slyther and goes out of his way to help and support him.
He basically rebuilt a whole region to stop crime he's chaotic neutral at the least

I love how he’s so intelligent he knows how to treat people right compared to most characters in Dorkly videos. I mean he resurrected his dad and is very friendly to his Scyther.

The artistry here is incredible! Getting so much acting out of tiny pixel sprites is some master tier skill.
Red's voice actor is great. Notice the slight laugh he gives Oak at 3:35? The subtle stuff like that makes that character so likable but then its topped by an awesome friendship to boot

The fact that they didn't make red a complete jerk by giving him intelligence is actually really good. He not only was always talking with scyther, but listened to him too, and taught him things, and even went along with his ideas. This is the kinda stuff we need.
because truly intelligent people know they need others to further their goals. and they need those people to understand them.
But... he murdered that snorlax when he could have just used Cut on one of the pointlessly maze-like fences.

5:28 so I just realized that Rhydon using surf here isn’t meant as a gag, its a strategy. When he throws an electric type in the water and shocks all the fish nearby, it won’t affect Rhydon bc he’s ground type.

3 years and it's still one of my favourite videos.
Usually, when a character like Red is that smart, they're cynical jerks who destroy all in their wake. Instead, he uses his intelligence to benefit himself and literally everyone around him save for a few like Prof. Oak (who didn't bother to look up bulbapedia, so he asked for it, lol). His friendship with Scyther was actually really wholesome, like, Red never looked down on him and saw him as an equal, even was willing to change history to make him happy. I really hope this series comes back someday.
Well he did steal everyone's pokemon, and he also killed a snorlax, and killed two kids... so all in all, he's a stand up guy.
Imagine telling a person who Studies Pokemon Biology that their Job doesn't matter because some website that would have information from his kind of research in their universe.
He also revived his dad and gave shuckle to his family to emulate him so his mother wouldn’t worry

hang on a minute, is this why bikes depreciated in value over the years? they used to be worth a million in gen 1, we were given one for free in return for advertising in gen 2/3, and from gen 4 onwards they just give them away. its almost as if the bike market crashed due to a sudden influx of bikes......

I love how scyther's so friendly and obedient to his trainer, and red's so kind to his scyther that he bought him a bike to enjoy with him and even went back in time to try to grant scyther's wish
Even after such a good relationship between the two, and Scyther’s obedience to Red, the ending was the best part when Red insisted Scyther stops calling him boss and rather call him friend.

I love the little easter eggs at the end of the story, like Kevin and Pokemon Ralphie and Rusty, especially when Rusty gets blown away carrying his pokemon game sign and getting struck by lightning
Scyther used cut a lot in this but the deepest cut was that ending. So wholesome, sad and true 😭
