Love them!!! Just so disappointing about the throttle control. As an experienced motorcyclist, why oh WHY isn’t there available - at least the option of - a twist-grip throttle???
Because when you hit the throttle on a scooter it pushes you back really hard, which in turn could cause you to accidentally twist the throttle harder if there was a twist throttle. It's a safety thing.
So I'm wondering if you guys are going to make a video on how to go in and dial everything in and adjust it in the programming? Or will there be a book when mine come in that explains all of that? I know that you can’t freeway, highway drive a scooter... BUT can you drive them on the street without insurance and MVD registration in the USA??? If so I’m in!
E-scooters do not need to be registered in California. You don't need a license plate or insurance either. However you will need a driver's license since these are powerful enough to be street legal. I recommend insurance for safety. I was in the ER without health insurance and the bill was extreme.
There are many situations that weight of your scooter is going to make a huge difference. No matter what you will need to lift the entire scooter’s weight off the ground to get these into a trunk or up a flight of stairs. However, I have been manipulating these heavy scooters for a couple years now and if you have good hydraulic brakes then you can lightly pull the right brake lever to lock the front brake and you can just push forward and lift the rear of the scooter off the ground. If I am trying to get my scooter onto the bus or up onto a curb then I would just lock the front brake and lift the rear of the scooter and swing it around up onto the curb. Then pull the left brake handle and pull back and lift the front of the scooter and just swing it up onto the curb and you don’t have to lift anything. Even if I am putting my scooter into the car, I will lock the rear brake and lift the front of the scooter as far as I need. If I can lift the front tire over the lip of the trunk or into the back seat, which is probably around 2.5 feet into the air or so, the I can get the scooter in without much muscle at all. There is also these great little rubber coated copper wire things that Home Depot sells which people use to cinch down loads or hold tarps in place. They are really great. You basically can wrap them around something and then twist it a few times and it will hold something really tight. These are a must have for scooters. I put a drink holder on my scooter but you know how those rough rides are. I always lost the lid or the entire drink pops out on me. With those wraps I can just wrap it around my drink, it takes 5 seconds to wrap it and twist a few times and the drink is securely fastened and will not go anywhere. So I actually use them to wrap up anything that I add or hold on the scooter and it will stay firmly and secure in place. But by far the biggest thing I use these wrap tie downs for is on public transportation the scooter will have a tendency to roll on you so you have to keep both hands on it. If you use these tie downs to pull the a brake lever down and fasten it securely to the handle the scooter will be so tightly locked into place you can just leave it sitting there with the kickstand down and it won’t roll. I don’t advise using this method with just mechanical brakes because you have to pull the brakes much harder to get the same stopping power, but you will still get a lot of advantages. When I found these tie downs I couldn’t believe I had tried to ride any scooter without them before. They are perfect for scooters.
i bought my thunder 1 month ago (the first one), im verry happy about it ! it go's really fast if needed and battery last long if driving on speed 1 at 30/35 km/h(18.5/22mph) . when going 60/70 km/h(37/43.5mph) the battery runs out alot faster. Driving at speed 60km/h(37mph) stil feels save, but at 80/85 km/h(50/53mph) you can get speed wobbels, witch i found verry dangereus. i recomend a top speed of 70km/h(43.5mph)
Thunder is my choice too - looking forward to some nice long rides this spring/summer. My Uscooters Booster S2 Plus has been great ride around town and at 23lbs it goes everywhere - but the 13 mile range is too limiting. As soon as the weather here in nyc gets a bit better I’m in.
I bought a Thunder from these guys, it is awesome and super fun to drive around. I’m going to buy another scooter for my girlfriend, and she thinks the Thunder is a bit big, so I was deciding between the 3 and the Spider. I’ll probably go with the 3.
waiting on my ultra👍 it should be here by the end of the week. Personally I think mini motors needs to chill out with all the disco lights. Personally I think there should be only two color lights on a scooter red and white. Instead of spending money on all those disco lights they need to invest that into a high-quality multi-function thousand plus lumens headlight and integrated multi-function tail light in the fender. maybe have a button were you can change it from solid red to different strobe settings.
The LED lights going up the side are REALLY inexpensive. You can turn them a solid color from the remote or you can turn them off. The four headlights on the thunder are actually pretty bright, but if you do want something to really light up the road then I would suggest getting the upper kiddy bar and mounting some serious lights. The Thunder is a much better scooter than the Ultra. Dual Hydraulic Brakes, Folding Handlebars, Updated EYE display, tubeless tires, and adjustable suspension cartridges make the Thunder incredible. Not that the Ultra isn't a great machine, it definitely is, however I think it's probably worth the upgrade.
@@MiniMotorsUSA yeah hydraulic brakes have better stopping power then mechanical. Mechanical disc brakes are easier to adjust on the Fly and don't have to be bled like hydraulic. Tubeless tires are great especially for people who don't check the air pressure before every ride. If you get a puncture you can plug it temporarily but eventually the tire has to come off and be patched from the inside. I don't think you want to be going 50 miles an hour with plugs in your tires. Plus the Thunder is 10 pounds heavier with the same performance specs as the ultra. If you really want all those upgrades and think they're necessary then yeah the Thunder would be worth the extra 500 dollars. But for me I don't need all that. I own a Speedway 4 not the mini. I've had it for around six months and have put over 900 miles on it. I literally got my first flat about a week ago. I inspect my scooter from top to bottom after every ride. And check the tire pressure to make sure it's 50 psi before every ride. I have pulled Staples and pieces of glass out of their rear tire. But luckily I got them out before they did any real damage to the tire or puncture the tube. It comes down to how you ride your scooter and maintain it.
IVe had so many issues with a dualtron 2 ex within 3 months time. It's not even funny...I'm hoping the one I bought was crap and if I invest another 2k it will actually be reliable.
From the moment I had a flat on my back tire , the horrors of it never stopped. In the month of June itself I had over 7 flats(back tire-tube). It got to a point where I would just ride it flat(low speed) to my destination. 2ndly, for God sakes the tools...dualtron never warned me that you would pretty much have to get 18mm wrench custom cut on the ring side to take the tires off. 3rd, my BMS went in July(I bought it in April) took a month off from the frustration....finally fixed it, the new battery appeared to be rejected...caught a short(won't turn on) & wheels began to lock . So idk man, I really don't want a turbo lightning, I would prefer to just rock the summer out with a dualtron 🤷🏽♂️
@@MannyG001 who did u buy the scooter from, I dont think u bought from minimotors, they take care of their customers. Also the new dualtrons have tubeless tires.
The Spider is a better solution if you are after a lighter scooter. It is easy to pick up and throw in the trunk of your car. The 3 is bigger and heavier. It has more torque and rides smoother because of the added weight. If you are looking for more of a sporty ride then get the Dualtron 3, if you are looking at primarily a last mile solution then get the Spider. Both are great options.
MiniMotors USA I will go for Spider.a dealer near me sell it. In a couple hours I will purchase that little monster. You are right. I don’t want a heavy scooter! They are both a good quality product and amazing scooters. But for my needs Spider is more-more than fine! Ride always safe. thank you @Minimotors 🙏
delbomb3131 Get rid of public transportation. I am sure everyone that gets up and goes to work to maintain the infrastructure public transport infrastructure everyday is far more costly than using Electric Scooters 🛴 There is obviously enough money laying around to keep public transport in operation. Get rid of that and there is all the money you are looking for, not to mention materials to build scooters.
@@theMekanik soooo get rid of public transport and use that money to buy scooters? Then scooters will be public transport lol... Also what about places like Tokyo where public transport is literally amazing
delbomb3131 Never been to Tokyo, they are are always like 20 years ahead of every one. Yes Public Transport should be Scooter, or Teleportation like Star Trek 🤩 Still waiting for the Jet Packs.or a good pair of hiking shoes 😎 That way there is not a big fkn bus driveling around burning resources with no one in them. Get rid of physical Banks and arms while we are at it. Make cell phones instead.
@@theMekanik I agree if no one is in em they shouldn't run if they're going to burn fossil fuels. Though there's a small island to the south of mainland Japan that is using hydrogen busses now, but there's never an empty bus either. That's why public transport evolves over there, they use it religiously. So if you're wanting to get rid of physical banks, you must be in favor of getting rid of physical cash too then right? Do you understand the downsides that come with that? Do you know why banks and executives are pushing for this?
Love this video, I've a dt3, and recently bought a kaabo wolf warrior (almost the same thing than the Thunder) I made a small video to compare dualtron Thunder To Kaabo wolf warrior (you can see it on my channel) - thunder is fastest on the 60 first feet - kaabo has better suspension - Kaabo is 46kg, but the weight is the front of the scooter, which is not good when you have to lift it - I reached 53 mph on the Kaabo (42 mph on my dt3) (I will do a bigger comparaison on youtube btw Thunder, DT3 and Kaabo when the weather will let us do...)
The weird part about this video is where you are is probably the worst place for an electric scooter lol. In the mountains like that I'm definitely using a dirt bike. I do have a question though I'm seeing complaints about the play in the handlebars due to the bottom of the steering column not being super secure. What say you!?! Re :thunder
I disagree that the Spider hits 40 MPH on flat ground. I own and GPS logged this scooter multiple times on flat ground and it’s top speed is about 35-36 MPH. It loses top speed significantly as the battery drops below 50-60%. Perhaps the LCD could show 40 MPH but it reads fast. I weigh 177 lbs so that shouldn’t be a factor as your rider weighs more than I do. That doesn’t detract from what the Spider is, a very agile and quick scooter with usable range that weighs 44 lbs. There is absolutely no comparison in that weight class.
Noted, we'll get out there with a speed gun and get back to you. Yes we were going off of the display reading which may have been reading a little hot, but 35 still feels crazy fast on a scooter.
Fantastic. I have a hybrid. A dualtron 2s frame with dualtron thunder Controllers and dualtron Spider motors. Weight is 44LBS as well but man the acceleration. Top speed is around 65km/h no thanks to the slow spider motors. Looking forward for magnesium spider motors in the speed version!
There is motor braking that does regenerate. There is a setting on the EYE display (PA). 0-5 Set at 0 there is no motor brake and no regen. If you max it up to 5 it's full regen but a little tough to get used to the hard motor brake. We like that set at 2 at the most. Don't get the Ultra, it's outdated. The Thunder is better in pretty much every regard.
@@bradg2804 Powerwise the Thunder and Ultra are pretty similar, however the Thunder will be way smoother and safer (better hydraulic brakes etc...) Unless she is really experienced on a motorcycle you might want to set her up on the Spider (or a 3 if she wants more torque)

Just so disappointing about the throttle control.
As an experienced motorcyclist, why oh WHY isn’t there available - at least the option of - a twist-grip throttle???
The Ninebot Es4 has twist throttle . But only goes 20mph!
@@GingerOnWheels Hmmm... That's useless, then.
Because when you hit the throttle on a scooter it pushes you back really hard, which in turn could cause you to accidentally twist the throttle harder if there was a twist throttle. It's a safety thing.
You guys did awesome, great review. Can you add a removable seat to sit, on any of these scooters?
I think you can on all of them
So I'm wondering if you guys are going to make a video on how to go in and dial everything in and adjust it in the programming? Or will there be a book when mine come in that explains all of that? I think it would be great to know how to adjust the abs and everything without fear of messing something else up in the process lol.

@@MiniMotorsUSA yeah I seen that when I just got my thunder in but that's still not as informative as a video.
Very cool and fun looking but the cost is unreal. I can buy a really nice motorcycle for that money...

Buying the thunder next month, too cold right now
Hi nice content, where can I buy this dualtron thunder? And how much? Thanks waiting
Put my name on a Thunder please. Will be purchasing one from you in June. Dualtron fanboy here.
Hahaha Love it!
Am interested dualtron compact.. one of the only products you haven't done a review on
I bought a Thunder from these guys, it is awesome and super fun to drive around.
I do believe the "Disco lights" are more about visibility to other motorist and pedestrians than about appeal.
Can’t wait to get mines
IVe had so many issues with a dualtron 2 ex within 3 months time. It's not even funny...I'm hoping the one I bought was crap and if I invest another 2k it will actually be reliable.
What do u mean issues what kind explain, the dualtron are very reliable
So idk man,
I really don't want a turbo lightning, I would prefer to just rock the summer out with a dualtron 🤷🏽♂️

Love them all! I am about to buy Dualtron Spider or Dualtron 3...? Hard decision.
Any Recommends from personal experience will be usefull.thanks.

If these exist why do we still have a public transit system 🤔
Because people who need to use public transportation usually don't have a grand laying around
delbomb3131 Get rid of public transportation.
Nice Scooter with a hell of a price tag. $2700-$3800. You also have another on your site for $6000 with a seat..
Love this video, I've a dt3, and recently bought a kaabo wolf warrior (almost the same thing than the Thunder)
I made a small video to compare dualtron Thunder To Kaabo wolf warrior (you can see it on my channel)
- thunder is fastest on the 60 first feet
- kaabo has better suspension
- Kaabo is 46kg, but the weight is the front of the scooter, which is not good when you have to lift it
- I reached 53 mph on the Kaabo (42 mph on my dt3) (I will do a bigger comparaison on youtube btw Thunder, DT3 and Kaabo when the weather will let us do...)
The weird part about this video is where you are is probably the worst place for an electric scooter lol. In the mountains like that I'm definitely using a dirt bike. I do have a question though I'm seeing complaints about the play in the handlebars due to the bottom of the steering column not being super secure. What say you!?!
Re :thunder
He is there because these scooters are designed for that environment. They are not as good as dirt bikes off road but that is why they are more fun.

1 question does the thunder and dualtron ultra have regenerative brake? I would like to use mostly regen brake does it have a setting for that?
There is motor braking that does regenerate. There is a setting on the EYE display (PA). 0-5 Set at 0 there is no motor brake and no regen. If you max it up to 5 it's full regen but a little tough to get used to the hard motor brake. We like that set at 2 at the most. Don't get the Ultra, it's outdated. The Thunder is better in pretty much every regard.
@@MiniMotorsUSA i am getting the thunder for myself and was thinking the ultra for my wife later on.
