Wow. One of the greatest live performances of all time ... and Im a 59 year old music freak. Great song Sara ... and all on stage take a HUGE bow. So much talent onstage at once. Did I say wow? 4 thumbs down? ... you have my sympathy. This line-up PLEASE do a world tour.
Each of your songs has its own "inscape," its own soul and unique reality, a sign of your inspired talent. Remember Hamlet: "There's a Divinity shapes our ends, rough-hew them how we will." Your destiny to lift our hearts, our vision.
Yeah, after a slew of live TV performances for Fire, that included LFH alums Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O'Donovan, (probably on a plane to Sydney for the IMH tour, as this show happened). This song then takes on a more intimate tone. Not having the SNL backing vocal choir that included Sarah, Aoife, Misty Boyce, Butterfly Boucher, Sasha Allen, Amanda Brown, & Rich Hinman, is no problem here. When you have Madison Cunningham helping Chris's best falsetto, it compensates like nothing else. She is that good. Philip Khronengold, on keys behind, played on the album, (Misty usually tours with Sara) accords himself well on all songs, and sits in with the LFH band too. Brittany is unfortunately lost in the mix, what no improve fiddle solo? Darn, because you know it would have been epic. Didn't hear her on vocals either. Sara seems so relaxed here, enjoying the banter with Chris throughout the entire show.
Watching the program from the audience, it was every bit as magical - and more so - than the video. Chris just seemed in total awe and couldn't seem to believe she was on the same stage as he was.
I loved hearing this song played live over the course of those few weeks with different band iterations. Sara said on twitter that the song is always 100% live with no tracks of clicks which is definitely outside of the norm these days, but the talent is there with everyone on stage.
Wow, thanks for identifying all the musicians who played on the SNL performance! I was revisiting those performances recently and was wondering who all those amazing singers were. (Aoife and Sarah I knew, the others I didn't.)
Check out the tail end of the "Revelator" cover in which he does a very fine Jonny Lee Miller impersonation. This is also a masterclass in how hard you can hit a mandolin without actually vaporizing it.

It's a bouzouki! He played it a couple of weeks ago during the LFH from Carnegie Hall celebrating Irish and Scots music, too. Their collaboration on this song is amazing!

Just baffled why songs like this aren't in constant radio play - what talent, what feeling & what a pleasure to hear
Raise your hand if you think Sara, Madison, and the Punch brothers should do more shows!
🙋
I caught this performance on the radio as I was parking the car. I couldn't leave the car until it was over.
That "Fiiiireeee" harmonies were GOLDEN!!!
Tight harmonies! Goosebumps!
This gives me goosebumps no matter how many times I listen. And you can tell by how they all react - they know how good this was.
The amount of talent on that stage just blows my mind. I cannot even handle it!!!
Perfect harmonies, Madison Cunningham spot on. Amazing performance.
I’d love to see a full collaboration with Sara and Madison!

“Damn” (not dam), but, yeah, I get your point.

Amazing! I was waiting for this!
Kinda liked her before I saw her on Chris' show; now a huge fan.
So good!

WOW!! AWESOME!!!
What type of guitar is Jude Law playing in this video? I’ve never seen it before
Gonna assume the "Jude Law" comment is a joke, and answer that the instrument appears to be an octave mandolin.
this comment made me laugh out loud
It's a bouzouki.

Whooo!
Wow, with Madison Cunningham
First time I've seen Chris with a Mandocello. Or is it an octave mandolin? Are they different?
