  • Did you ever wonder how hospitals keep all their equipment clean and safe?
Much of the work that keeps the lights on and patients safe at Johns Hopkins Bayview happens so seamlessly it goes unnoticed. We celebrate the work of our everyday heroes, no matter how visible their jobs are.

This is a wonderful video! I am not sure what we would do without this incredible team that we never see. We only know our instruments were always clean, sterilized, packaged, and ready to go whenever we needed them for a case. If a certain instrument was needed urgently, Central Sterile was only a phone call away. Their team not only completed the job timely, but picked up and delivered our specialized instruments. When one thinks about an area called often throughout the work week, Central comes to mind right away. Thank you CSP for keeping us ready to care for patients 24 hours a day. You are appreciated!

I respect this career soooo much! My son was a trauma patient and those ppl had to be ready to receive him from the ambulance. Those instruments had to be ready too! I saw a lot of things and his journey was intense for a short while. God is good. I’m thankful for this profession. One dirty instrument is all it takes….

Another important group in the hospital team. Thank you CSP! It would be nice to have a short video on all areas in the hospital system to help us understand how EVERYONE plays an important role.

I'm a CNA who has been working in nursing homes and assisted living facilities for about eight years now. I did want to be a nurse but I keep thinking less and less about it for a number of reasons.
I have been thinking about a few other career paths that only require a certification, such as: Phlebotomy, Sterile Processing Technician, Qualified Medication Aide(Indiana) and Medical Assistant. If anyone has any insight on these careers or can make any other suggestions, please fill me in.

0:39 "I prefer to brush my instrument NOT submerged underwater...that way bioburden is rapidly splattered in all directions, especially with the help of the spraying nozzle"!!
1:03 "we only check the tips of instruments under the mag-light, never the box lock...patient safety isn't important enough to inspect the entire instrument" LOL
1:50 white middle shelf rack, second shelf up from the bottom...the bottom pan doesn't have a lock. NICE
