Scrombles is so scrombled that Behemoth has actually been running the show for a time now. She still gets his advice but issues the orders.
"Scrombles? Would you like to go smash some Capellans?"
"Scrombles LOVE, will scrombles get smash scorpin?"
"Yes scrombles there will be scorpions"
"Will scrombles get many cbill?"
"Many many cbill"
"SCROMBLES SMASH!!"
"Come here big daddy"
Well at least it's post retcon behemoth. Pre namechange they were uhhhh. Not a good person.
I feel that you have Scrombles being a little to wordy.
I feel that his responses would be more like this:
"Scrambles SMASH! Scrombles smash Scorpids?"
"Scrombles Cbill?"
"SCROMBLES SMASH!"
Remember Scrombles is a man of few words... very few and mostly single syllable words. Two syllables at the most. Words like "will" and "get" maybe to complex for Scrombles to use because they are used in proper, well thought out English sentences. That is very hard for Scrombles to understand let alone use in sentence structure so well. But my view of Scrombles is very much based on Tex's 1 Intelligence run of original Fallout... this Scrombles could be smarter.
Oh maybe Tex and the BPL could make some kind lore for Scrombles from the Fallout run being on a periphery planet which was orbitally bombarded with nukes and the vaults were a Discount Dan scam... I mean product which somehow worked. But they only had alternative history videos for entertainment and educational purposes. So they now believe that as true history of their reason for being in the vaults. This Scrombles is a descendant of the Scrombles who emerged from that vault. The bloodline of Scrombles is a very proud, very Very strong, but very Very VERY DUMB bloodline. The biggest and strongest of them is always the leader and their name always becomes SCROMBLES!
@@Winterydee hes trying his best okay?
@@jimnpen8451 - Anyone's best is all anyone else can ask for.
"A Warhammer is a light recon mech"
"THAT IS LIGHT RECON!?"
"Yes would you like to see heavy recon?"
The heavy recon unit: STEINER SCOUT SQUAD!
My recon king crabs can hold 4 gauss rifle...
And my shark has a artillery cannon... For... Recon
I have gotten into the habit of listening to this while playing Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries, to enjoy both turn based and real-time goodness at the same time.
Hmm, should save this for when done work. Sounds like good idea.
I thought I was alone haha goof shit m8
90 ton assault Highlander is also labeled Elite Scout. Oh Taurians.
If you think about it there is a reason Highlanders look like like an observation Bunker ate all their vegetables while growing up
Elite Scout is the pilot. Been a minute since I've played, but each combination of specialties is given a title. Lancer, Gladiator, Scout, Sentinel, etc. I think Scouts have sensors, Master Tactition, & Sure Footed. Elite = high level, like an 8+ or 3.
Pro Tip - kill the Lancers.
It has jumpjets, that makes it a scout mech
I admire Tex's adamant refusal to stand in the magic trees that reduce incoming damage. Actually not true- but I DO admire his total dedication to just having fun on his own terms and not wasting a second worrying about how other people play.
"Abandon compassion for fellow man..." Jeff Bezos vibes here.
That would imply that he has compassion
@@DwarfElvishDiplomacy True, very true...
@@DwarfElvishDiplomacy that would imply that he's human...
@@darrianweathington1923 he used to be human
Thoroughly enjoy every bit of rambling really. It's nice hearing someone be passionate about the things they like and disagree just as much with anyone trying to dictate in which way you got to enjoy the things you do.
People tend to forget everyones unique in their own way and there's beauty in that... ain't a problem until people make it one.
well said.
I like running Large Lasers in a warhammer. Imo it's much more versatile. I like aiming for the cockpit. That's where they hide off button.
I just run gauss rifle, ER PPC and LRM's 15 with 0 armor on everything I can so I can just make things go KABOOM from 600+ meters
"I like aiming for the cockpit. That's where they hide off button." I'm stealing that.
"I don't want to be good at games. I want to enjoy them."
This phrase resonates with me so much.
Just got my clan box, these models are amazing. I agree, HBS should have spun up a group to make another of these and have it go into the clan era using this engine and maybe bring in some of their mod creators.
Microsoft still owns the video game rights. TV rights, too, I think. Tell them to "Let Mitch make another Battletech game."
I suspect that HBS has been caught up with the Paradox Interactive project shuffle. I think Battletech was moderately successful, but not enormously profitable - which makes funding a sequel somewhat difficult without publisher buy-in. And Paradox has been having some difficulties across a lot of studios. I also wouldn't be surprised if HBS wanted to work on something different - 4+ years of daily work on a property can get boring. The developers are, first and foremost, artists - and I won't ever blame someone for getting tired of a project.
There was a light plan for a story set in (IIRC) the 3030's, but they actually lost both their multiplayer person and their lore person (very different circumstances). I do expect we'll see another property before a Battletech 2, tho.
Just to stir some noodles, one of the permutations for BT2 might have been following an officer from Wolf's Dragoons as he battles & then befriends a merc company. Eventually fighting alongside them. I believe this would have been about the 4th(?) Succession War. About 1 generation before The Invasion.
@@kmcd6140 sounds like what was rolled into MW5.
I would love another HBS Battletech game.
Battletech is good fun. The memory leaks are still a ball ache with a beefy PC, unfortunately. If Mechwarrior 5 went on sale, my buddy and I would buy it in an instant. Thanks for the morning entertainment, Tex. You've got a good head on your shoulders. Good luck in your struggles.
Get that shit. The co-op with at least 1 fire team partner makes it so worth it. 1 fren is all you need. 3 makes one hell of a goob time.
@@RoKKr023i I just want to add: check the computer requirements before buying it. I have a decent computer but not a "gaming rig." It runs MWO just fine, but MechWarrior 5 ended up having fewer frames than seconds on it. I later learned that MWO's engine relies heavily on the CPU, while MW5 relies more on the GPU.
Mod it out to you own way fam
It's on sale on Steam. Not at an amazing discount though.
Yeah, the leaks are a Unity thing. Not much any dev can do. As I understand it, they updated to a newer version of Unity midway because it was supposed to run better.
The Quebec joke was so satisfactory.
Every damn time Tex drops a new one of these wonderful videos I automatically watch it... and then end up obsessively playing _BattleTech_ for like 10 hours straight.
If HBS would make a BattleTech II I would pay through the nose for it. And that is *exactly* what they should call it; just _BattleTech II._
I do need that armor, Tex. It's what keeps me alive...
Except this time.
Yes! HBS Battletech Clan Invasion era! Then for the third game maybe focus on the IS counter attack. I'd love to kick Smoke Jaguar's teeth in. Or if they want to leave it more open maybe Jihad era (bleh but I'd still play it). I'd back that in a heartbeat.
Already two games set during Operation Bulldog. I'd kinda like something set during the Amaris Civil War.
@@MrCatfishable Ooohhhhh good call. That would be awesome.
Tex you’re literally one of the major reasons I’m getting back into battletech. I’m with you, an updated and moddable rerelease would be fucking amazing.
Oh man, I would LOVE if HBS BT had the same evolution that Firaxis XCOM had. Jake making the second game so easily moddable was a brilliant idea, and if HBS did the same for a BT sequel...
Archer is a fantastic Mech! I love My Archer in MWO, in BattleTech, in Table Top, Morgan Kell wasn't wrong, it's a great Mech.
The Agincourt in MW5 is an SRM6 nightmare.
The Archer is a solid mech, but I always liked the Catapult more.
Get the 2W variant when you can - you can do amazing things with all those hard points lol
@@jimnpen8451 Yeah Agincourt is pretty amazing indeed. Usually ends up being My Command Mech.
@@zachelkins1229 I see that, then raise You an ECM Archer like Tempest in MWO.
A similar mantra has almost become a catch phrase in my Final Fantasy 6 randomizer playthroughs: "I said this is my favorite game from my childhood, I never said I was any good at it!"
I love how Tex just rambles an casually departs wisdom. He's just a down to earth man that's not afraid of what to say. An that's just fantastic. Have alot of love for you man.
UPDATE: ALBANIA WILL NOT SELL US MIGS AND REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE US.
TIME TO STEAL NORTH KOREAN MUSIC OFF THEIR TWITCH FOR RED DRAGON THEN....
I'm not a fan of turn based strategy games, but Battletech (along with Living Legends) helps satiate my stompy death robot desire.
YES! Jeff B. definitely gives off a Lex Luthor vibe and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so!
But yeah man, as you've said before, Liking things shouldn't be hard. And I can honestly say that it is extremely easy to like listening to you ramble while playing games at whatever level of skill you are able, so just keep doing what you're doing. Thanks for the great video, it made my Wednesday all the more enjoyable, and stay safe out there!
Tex, thank you for these words of wisdom and guidance. You are the quality over quantity type of youtuber i like. You say your not good at some of the games you play, but rather want to have fun with it, and i like people like that. Keep up the great work.
I can almost understand why there hasn't been much said about a sequel - the mod community has risen to the occasion incredibly.
I have yet to pull the trigger on MW5 because I hear the AI is pretty awful - not sure if the mod community can/has addressed it.
Totally agree regarding "make it and we buy" but we really don't want crappy adaptations.
I find myself at 51 coming back to Battletech with financial means far beyond what I had waaay back lol
That Warhammer build hurt my soul.
really the only question i ever have when watching tex play battletech is "why does this man not use cover more," and the answer is usually "SCROMBLES PUNCH"
Tex: "i'm not good at vidya games, I don't want to ever lead you on in thinking that"
Me: Tex, whether or not youre good at games has nothing to do with the reasons why any of us are here. We're here for the chill times, shitposts, memes, big stompy robots, etc. Game fluency is not essential and most of us don't even think about or pay attention to, or even notice in the slightest gameplay skill levels. We're here for you, period.
Thanks for saying so. That's rather nice.
@@theblackpantslegion my apologies if my statement came off a bit brash, it was said from a place of love and appreciation, just kinda sounded a bit blunt coming back to this a couple weeks later, heh..
“Not that… that’s expensive…”
I felt that.
James P Hogan's Giant series (which I recommend) noted humanity's near inability to let someone do anything without butting in to advise, help or take over if they believe they can do it better.
I read somewhere that HBS was interested in a sequel, but was committed to other projects that had to be completed first.
Morning Coffee, blunt and Tex. Life is good.
Gotta cultivate and water that rekindled interest in battletech. Drip feed weekly or daily the Tex man talking. Can't let it wither on the vine! Only crazy people would let all these parched folks wandering the desert of content and not create more when they're only asking "please sir, can we have sum'more?"
Also need BPL themed boxers with scrombles screaming on the rear, for charity obviously.
Plus we all know Tex is just pretending to be weak at battletech video games to lull everyone into a false sense of security. Then, when the time is right he will reveal that he is stronk and will strike mercilessly once everyone has fallen for the ruse. Clearly several parallel dimensions ahead of the rest of us!
Tex knows more than anyone. he just does the wrong stuff to troll us all. to keep us grounded in the real where nothing is optimal, and shit just happens as it happens.
The Taurian Warham has Snubs! oh shit. i'd pilot that.
Tex BTA 3062 is a great mod. I don't usually download mods for games but with the recent patch they added it has completely changed the experience I have had with Battletech 2018. Could not recommend it enough. Keep up the great content!
If Bezos is Lex Luthor, then Elon Musk is Green Arrow.
I get everything you were saying. Have fun first and ignore the pushers and complaining. I love your “in your face” play style in BattleTech! 😁
Awesome as always my dude. Love having your videos on the background while i work. Thanks for making them!
I've always felt more like... If Lex Luthor ran the Wallmart from Idiocracy. That's the specific vibe I'm getting from ol Berf Jersus.
Keep on keeping on Tex.
Your talk about the competitive nature of games and enjoyment, as well as the created notion that you have to the absolute best at all of your hobbies or you are somehow less than someone else, rings very true with me and appreciate hearing you talk about it. I have played competitively in several games only to really lose that love of the game when I get to the upper tiers.
"I don't want to be good at games, I want to enjoy them."
As someone who has spent countless hours getting my shit pushed in in Dark Souls, whose Tuesday night group can't finish Back 4 Blood on Nightmare, and countless other examples, I feel seen.
YESSS IT'S SCROMBLES TIME.
Scrombulation o' clock.
The 3062 Advanced Mod is great.
I am a simple man. I see Scrombles. I punch like button.
Damn you almost made me tear up and feel wholly heartened with that closing statement
Scrombles got scrombled!
That's OK, though. It means that there is no blood in the cockpit; it's just ketchup for the scrombled eggs.
YAY!! More Scrombles!! :) Awwww... ganged up on by Assaults... still in interesting battle and fun commentary. Hope to see more Tex!
I could really go for an Amaris coupe grand campaign of a battle tech game playing as the SLDF. Start during the periphery uprising as a mech pilot scrub, to kicking in Amaris's palace as a commander of a battle mech division. If you don't screw up or die along the way. Or also be able to play the other side as an Amaris goon for war crimes o'clock.
I Kickstarted this game back in 2015... I have not been disappointed. I would Kickstart a sequel in a heartbeat.
You’re great at games, you’re clearly always having fun, and that’s great!
Eldoniousrex gave me permission to use some of his art on my van. Scrombles dropping this morning is quite the serendipity
make it happen. Fucking van art is glorious.
Please make a Van with Rex art. What are you thinking? Van art is Metal as fuck.
@@RoKKr023i well you can see my van in my profile picture. I already have white perforated vinyl on my rear windows. But after painting my friends VW olive drab with a black racing stripe, I was thinking about doing an appearance upgrade on the van. Make it more nerdy and less pervy. I'm looking at some kind of camo pattern and then using some assorted Eldoniousrex art printed out on perforated vinyl for the windows. So if you know a place that prints vinyl hook me up. PS I work in a body shop so this wont be too jank.
@@theblackpantslegion I'm taking the wheelchair lift out of the back of it. It has a seal leaking on one of the hydraulic cylinders (which I will have repaired) if you know someone in the BPL who needs one or needs one to help take care of a parent. I used it to haul my buddy to his wedding a few years ago in Colorado Springs of all places. Now he goes everywhere with his wife and well, I'm ready for full on camper van and need the space. Anyway I can throw it on a palette and ship it to wherever if someone wants to pay shipping. These things can be very expensive and apart from the leak this one works flawlessly.
All hail Scrombles!
I just beat the campaign yesterday, really good, wish it was longer, would buy another one. HBS, make more... needs Atlas 3...
Also wish I could have more pilots. I don't even use them all, just want to collect all the Kickstarter and special pilots
Thank you for the video content, an no the market is not saturated, the low quality market is saturated. The high quality interesting or honest stuff is incredibly rare... that's you btw.
I do love what you do Tex. Don't ever stop.
I agree Tex. I play World of Tanks Blitz a lot. If I really wanted focus on winning I’d play the latest, fastest, pay to win tank. That’s not for me. I enjoy the historical, big, slow, troll-cannon tanks. I don’t win as much but, I have fun.
As a console pleb this is unfortunately not an option for me (but been having fun with MW5, thank you GamePass)... you spoke of nostalgia hits and getting back into Batttletech has certainly been one. Had fun diving back into the universe after being introduced to it by MW2 way back when 😁... looking forward to more and stay frosty gents!
Thanks Tex. Always a pleasure. Stay safe.
Remember the Renown!
Dunking on Québec: Hey Tex, stay in your lane. That's the rest of Canada's job. :p
Good morning from Texas fellas...
games dont fill the sad unless they can be enjoyed with friends is exactly how i feel about it.
"I MUST BE THE BEST AT THIS! MUST MUST MUST BE THA BEST'" = misplaced self worth they don't want to try to find inside themselves.
Ouchie but fun as hell to watch and always love listening to Mr Tex.
Thanks for another awesome episode of Scrombles Punch.
Even when you're getting your arse royally kicked it's still time well spent to watch...
Oh, and I mean they're games right weren't they specifically created to have fun, (well other than the whole making money thing which it takes a fun game to do)?
At least fun's why we used to play games and some still do, myself included...
Hbs knocked this out of the ball park imo. They should absolutely make another, and maybe in life some larger scale warfare to take part in.
Scrambles the scrombulator!
I really like listening to you Tex. Keep up with the good work.
I think there have been quite a few new members of the battle tech fandom from mech warrior 5 being added to Xbox game pass, that’s how I got into it and now I have played mech warrior online, many, many, hours of mech warrior 5, I have gone through the entire grey death saga and listened to many more hours of tex and others digging into and detailing the lore
Hey, I think I heard more than I saw. The points you made about the game content were spot on. I'd rather see a goofy, crappy player who can make me laugh, than a pro who is dry as cardboard and arrogant. My son and I appreciate what you do and like the group of friends you have collected in your journey's. Good friends are hard to come by. I would to see an old school Neverwinter Nights play through! Love Ya Tex!
EDIT: would...love to see.....^
You know, I love how existential in a positive way things get when Tex plays games. It's like listening to the Mr Rogers of war crimes.
Imagine if they got Black Pants Legion to narrate the in-game lore for another game.
Tex taking about Dark Souls was almost a description of LobosJr challenge runs.
Looks gorgeous with the new setup.
oh yeah scrombles is back..yea
Keep it up bud. Thanks to arch I found you. Damn happy I did.
In MW 5 my hero Archer just looks at things and a second later that thing is gone.
Thanks Tex. I appreciate you!
SCROMBLES!!
I think in my case it's a perfectionist streak that causes me to get irked when obviously bad decisions are made in games. I'm far from "good" but I'm alright and I generally aim to play well most of the time. I quite often don't play meta but I aim to play solid even with weird choices, and I generally get enjoyment out of beating whatever's supposed to be better than my crap.
Good Scrombles ramble, hope you get back into Battletech (2018) sometime soon.
Oh good, Scrombles is out of the ball-pit and ready to rock!
There’s a Scrombles The Chunky Cat in my neighborhood.
Scrombles Chunky Cats is an amazing merc company name
HBS is located in Seattle. That explains why they can't do common sense things to make money.
Tex, I can't speak for others obviously but I think I'd rather play with you and your attitude towards the game than any number of the uptight "experts." Yes, there are some really good players who actually DON'T have sticks up their nethers (like Baradul, who I think would be fun to play with, too,) but - well, it gets to the point where I wonder if the people actually enjoy the game they're playing, whatever it is.
Yeah. I watch you because you play the game for the sake of "hey, this looks like fun" (and, yes, you're also relaxing and funny to listen to.) I might watch an expert if I'm stuck somewhere I can't figure out how to get past something, but ... I rarely go back.
Honestly, I had a simliar sort of conversation (well, response) to someone in another game, where they wanted to make concepts but eventually got into the tyranny of THE NUMBERS. He can't make that because THE NUMBERS weren't right, defense wasn't capped, he couldn't get recharge bumped up if he took THAT power, but taking that one instead, etc, etc. And there's a meta there of perma-available-this, defense-capped that, recharge, recharge, play only at max settings.
For me, that's just not fun. I can do it, yes. I have th eknowledge, but it's *boring as hell.* So I hang out with the roleplaying crowd, take powers that look fun, are interesting, or fit flavor - I may not speed run a task force designed for a full team on my own at max settings, but I'm having fun, and I try to encourage others to try just having fun as well.
16:49 Exactly. I only play themed armies. I rarely win (when I do, it surprises me) but I always have fun.
The problem is there parent company. Paradox is going through a crazy time right now.
I have no idea, which dicked up exit I took off Interstate Real Life, to end up here, but it is a fucking hoot.
I have watched this playlist through twice, evilly cackling the entire time. Shit talking, such as this, I have not heard, since my Grunt in the field days. Drive on. There is more I could say, but brevity is the soul of wit, or some such hot sauce.
One final comment, should I ever win the Lottery, at the point they ask the "what are your plans?" I solemnly swear to say, "Coke and Hookers, then Hookers and Coke", as I walk out.
Hail Tex of Cargonia, Long may his rambling lectures go on
And a Retirement check how? i mean you are now spraying out the cockpit with whats left of him.
Bezos is Lex Luthor.
Musk is a Bond villain.
Zuck is Skynet.
Fight me.
I got 3 marauders run 2 ac5++ and 4 med laser+++ lol love the headshooting I commit and all that wonderful salvo
A sequel needs multiple story campaigns and an era selector
Scrombles got his butt kicked. Good fight though. I look forward to the next one.
long time viewer, enjoying your channel. Hoping you will give Age of War; Wolf Dragoons; and the Houses an in-depth review like you did with the Clans and Star League. Keep up the great work.
I too, really want another BT game sequel. Not necessarily a DLC but maybe a classic Clan Invasion northern-galaxy-in-the-path-of-the-clan-corridor-horrifying-clan-slaughter. Maybe follow the actual BattleTech Somerset Strikers (because for t3h lulz)
This shall make the compost run far more enjoyable.
I would love a sequel as well however I think it didn't make enough initially for an instant green light. Also paradox have been dealing with some management snafus that could have gummed up the works.
man that is great mach
I don't even play this game but I would fund a sequel just to watch Tex play it. lmao
Play it... It's great!
Yeah! More Scrombels.
