holding the throw ready with the spear should also slow you down some i think, the 1 shot foot shots are super silly though
I think those are the proper two adjustments. Though, Crytek only adjusts with a sledgehammer unfortunately.
Despite how dumb it is on paper and in game, I still think it’s pretty balanced. Maybe decrease light melee damage and speed, but other than that…you only get one spear and it takes up a lot of stamina.

The spear seems like it should be a 1-slot weapon, or do less damage. Otherwise it's like a pocket crossbow. Even better than a crossbow, it one-shots with arm shots and leg shots.

I can accept the spear one shotting the whole torso, but legs and arms is too much...
Waist down, above the knee, maybe half health heavy bleed. Below the knee, maybe 1/4 HP light bleed. Foot, one small health chunk light bleed

I think the spear should have some kind of nerf. For example:
- Imprecise at larger distances
- No instant kill when hitting extremities
- Slowdown the hunter when charging
- Only throw from a forward sprint
What do you think could be good nerfs or balancing changes?
Imprecise at range is a can or RNG worms that always feels bad in FPS. The better solution usually used is damage drop off. You can still hit at long range if your aim is good, but it won’t do all the damage it would inside the range of its intended use.
Its the only "weapon" were you can sprint and shoot at the same time. So it defently needs a nerf
Spear is perfect, hope they never touch it. Best addition since bow + throwing axe back during light the shadow.

you know this video made me think more in depth about the spear... and i kind of like it!
my main two loadouts are officer carbine/silence nagant or sparks/officer nagant and i ALWAYS take pennyshot darringer now that its a thing bc it immensely helps me in pushes compete against shotty campers and i think the spear might just be crytecs 2nd answer to that issue!!!
i do think its way to powerful as is, i think upper torso, head should kill for a GOOD distance idk what is fair exactly but far
lower torso should be like 135ish with heavy bleed
legs should be like 100 with heavy maybe medium bleed
dont like taking shotguns but dont mind giving up a tool slot? lets rejoice that crytec is trying to balance this "meta"/issue

Now, my problem with the spear is, that leg or arm hit from any distance is lethal, that is just straight up stupid. Anything except body/head shot, above 10m lets say, should not be lethal.

Spear is a tad too strong. Toe shots shouldn't kill.
Bow too weak - arm shots should kill if the torso is behind the arm. The same should be true for the spear - arm shots only killing when the spear goes through the arm and hits the torso, not when hitting a hand with nothing behind it
(like it used to be for the bow when it was first introduced - the pickrate-stats were wild because it was new, not because it was too strong)
Bow doesn't need a buff at all. It's been broken since launch.

I agree re the one shot BUT, if it's not a one shot kill, then it might present an animation or object colission headache with people running around with a spear sticking out of their foot?
I'm always more terrified of spear players over nitro players. Spear 1 tap feels more reliable than nitro regular ammo
imo the spear should be same dmg as tomahawk, or just make it a weapon slot

I agree the worst types of players dont play the game and just dont fight. I always respect when players take the fight whether they win or lose. After I die I will without fail see a prestige 30 dude just in the middle of nowhere. Not near the boss compound. Not near any fighting. Just doing nothing with a scoped weapon and then extracting. Like what is the point at that point of playing the game lol.
I will say that the throwing spear being as strong as it is out the gate feels like Riot releasing a new champion that is WAY over tuned, and eventually gets corrected. Throwing spear, being essentially similar to the Tomahawk in a lot of ways, has no right being THAT much better than the Tomahawk. Its fun, yes, but it shouldn't be that crazy. Maybe keep that overpowered-ness for AI, not bosses, and definitely not for players. If we don't need to worry about where we hit hunters to get kills, that changes a lot of what makes the game what it is compared to others out on the market. A one shot to not even the big toe doesn't feel as earned or as rewarding as a well placed head or torso hit.

The fact that a Nitro doesn't one shot to arms and legs tells you all you need to know about having the spear nerfed so its similar.
it should not 1 shot in limbs, the game is not counter strike, and the spear is no awp.

Spear should get reduced damage to limbs like every other weapon in the game. The fact the spear doesn't is really broken.
They should also just delete heavy knife from the game at this point along with throwing knives and axes.

I am 100% fine with the spear one-shotting everywhere. At least, for once, it's actually something that takes skill and aim compared to RNG bullsh*t like Fanning which is way worse for game balance than a one-shotting spear.
