    Jerry, thanks for the videos. I know that they are time consuming to make and require a lot of thought and planning, which makes them valued documents. You are doing a worthwhile job in explaining the quite complex structure of the FR8X, and your efforts are really appreciated. Great presentation style as well. Thanks once again. Ian.

      Hi Ian, thanks for commenting! They do take their fair share of time, about 1-2 hours per minute, but I enjoy it and thanks to people like yourself, makes it all worth it for me.

      Thanks for posting Guy, SUPER appreciated it! I've just been so busy, but I am making SMALL advancements for the coming videos. My thoughts, to shorten the amount of time in between videos, is to maybe make them smaller. Thanks again!

      @@JerryPH Looking forward to whatever you have time to include in future 8X videos. Just out of curiosity what drew you to playing digital accordions and do you now have a preference (acoustic versus digital) ?Thanks, Guy

    • @JerryPH
      @JerryPH  Год назад +1

      Hi Guy! I started accordion at a young age and even had a good stint at the Royal Conservatory of Toronto. That said I always had a preference for acoustic accordion but had electric accordions since the early 80's, owning an Iorio and Elka Vox. When I returned back to the accordion after a 35 year hiatus, a lot of it had to do with the 8X and how I found it. I have a perfect balance of preferences between the 2, each has a strong advantage that the other has not... so why limit myself to just one? :)

    Your tip on "last button hit" when layering was something I didn't know, and I'm sure it's messed me up in live performances several times, so thanks for that! I learned pretty early on that you have to be fairly precise pressing the buttons, and sometimes that's hard to do on the fly since the buttons are so small, and that motivated me to create some user programs to avoid having to mess with the buttons.

    • @JerryPH

      Yes, done right it can be done during a live gig, but definitely custom UPG's are the way to go! :)

      I can remember the first week or so that I had my 8X, it was almost a horrible experience, I can see how initially people would not like the 8X, but it is the most complex digital accordion to date, and it has a lot to offer, to those that take the time and go slowly. Thank-you kindly for your comment.

    • @JerryPH
      @JerryPH  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Ernie, than-you for the nice post! Believe it or not, those are "plastic gems" and cost around $1 in many "Dollar Store" locations. Though they look nice and help me better find specific registers faster, they are certainly not expensive and are easy to just stick on.

    Dude, YOU ROCK! Both of your videos from Mild to Wild are outstanding! Getting my 8X delivered tomorrow, looking forward to checking it out and making the learning curve as quick as possible. Looking forward to M2W3. How was the backup done for the fun part of this video? I didn't see a USB stick in the USB slot, but I'm not sure how it all works yet.

      Thanks for your kind words and congrats on your new 8X, may it give you all the fun and pleasure I've received from mine! When I make recordings I usually go from the 8X to an external recorder for highest quality and best opportunity for post production editing.

    That was a brilliant explanation as I am thinking of getting one.
    Where did the percussion sound come from at the end?
    Can it be programmed to sound like an Alpine Accordion?
    Ie...Austrian and Slovenian music?

    • @JerryPH
      @JerryPH  Год назад

      The backing track comes courtesy of the Roland BK-7m arranger on this video, and to answer your question, yes, there is a way to get the 8X to have a very nice Alpine sound. Thanks so much for posting!

    Good that you are back with more info Jerry. Perhaps in the future you could do something about the bellows.I hate the bellows on my FR8X and have to use them in ‘fixed mode’.no matter how I adjust them they never feel right.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    • @JerryPH
      @JerryPH  5 лет назад +2

      John, first, thank-you for your comment. Concerning the bellows, this is going to always be a point of contention with many. Though the accordion has great latitude to accommodate most users via it's settings, it won't please everyone 100% because we have to remember that it is a digital accordion and doesn't work in the same way. That said, though it won't ever feel 100% the same as an acoustic accordion, there are some settings that we could look at in a future video that touch on the needs of different people that could help make things a bit better. Thank-you for the great suggestion!

    • @GalacticoUC
      @GalacticoUC 5 лет назад +1

      @@JerryPH i totally agree with John, for my dad, the bellows is a problem without a solution. I saw in the video you use dinamic bellow behavior on, with resistance +20, so it is super hard. My dad use DBB off, resistance -20, and still feels the bellow too rigid and unnatural.

      @raider2119 5 лет назад +2

      @@JerryPH This is an issue I hope you address in the near future. At factory settings it takes a good deal more pressure to push/pull and I tire out quickly..... When I reset to where it is comfortable to play, I get a bothersome hissing of air bypassing the bellows.... HELP!!! :)

    • @JerryPH
      @JerryPH  5 лет назад +2

      @@raider2119 Wow, a couple of comments about the bellows! Ok, lets see if I can help a bit. First, that little hissing is the dynamic valve inside and is completely normal. Once you start playing it becomes less noticeable. As for making the bellows easier, for you and Fernando Gallardo's father, I will see if I can make a mini-video and blog posting on my website, and add that info in a future video. I am out of town this week, but please give me 2-3 weeks and I will do something for you gents! :)

    I have an FRx8. Bought last year and I love it. How do you clean it? Especially on top where I am breathing on it all the time. I don’t want to spoil it or mark it with anything. What shall I use? 👍😁

      Lol! A couple years ago I had to take my FR-8X in to the guy who sold it to me (and is a fantastic accordion tech) for an issue on the left hand. I had just finished a nine day Oktoberfest playing up to ten hours a day, and the LCD and top of the accordion was pretty spotted up. He gave me hell for it, saying "It looks like you spilled something on there, you really need to be careful about that!" I said, "That's spit! I'm playing professionally and I sing...a lot! What do you expect?" But, of course, when I got it home I cleaned it thoroughly. 😉
