    You have done what Roland should have done years ago. I've had the FR-8X for a year and I'm finally comfortable enough to play in front of an audience but there is still so much more to learn so I'm looking forward to your next videos. Jerry - thank you very much. Yours will quickly become the go-to video for the FR-8X.

    Thanks for taking the time to create the videos Jerry..... You have produced a brilliant video that is of benefit to all peeps who have bought an FX 8.
    I am surprised Roland haven't done this already..... I treated myself to a Roland 8x, got it home and was so disappointed when I opened it and hadn't a clue how to use it (I am a traditional accordionist). I was confronted with an enormous toilet paper thin manual that I didn't want to confront. The bellows weren't functioning and as a result I didn't touch the Roland for about 6 months. With the help of my son, we found out how to get the bellows to work and I could then begin to play this fantastic instrument. I am left thinking, since the vast number of instruments sold are to actual traditional accordionists, why wouldn't the default setting be to the traditional instrument (with already functioning bellows) settings and go from there? Needless to say I have gradually started to use more of the functionality of the instrument as time has gone on. Your videos are fantastic and I have learned from each video, so thank you for that.
    I hope you will continue to produce more videos in the same easy to understand, well explained style.
    I appreciate that all the information is 'in the manual' , but as a visual person (as are the majority of the population) the video teaching method totally complements my preferred way of learning. Thanks again.

      Thank-you for your great post! I am slowly getting things together and will continue to create some content for the FR-8X including completing the 3 and final explanation of the front panel and then moving on to making a few videos on how to teach people how to program it and customize the sounds for their needs. Stay tuned!

    Thank you Jerry, I found your video very informative and excellent. As much as I am tempted to buy the Roland 8X, I am still waiting for the Bugari EVO to be available in the U.S. Thank You again.

      Hi Vincent, thank-you for the comment. In all sincerity, I was also very interested in the EVO, however, I was quick to learn that back a few years ago, if I was going to wait for Bugari to come to North America, I would be waiting a long time, possibly even forever.
      Currently, the Evo and FR-8X are electronically 100% the same though the keyboard action is of slightly lower quality as well as a few other features. Cory Pesaturo and dozens of other wonderful accordionists had NO issues making incredible music on a Roland 7X and 8X, so I accepted that and bought an 8X and in the meantime saved myself over two years loss of waiting for something that even today is *still* not available in Canada and no one from Bugari (not even Marco himself), was willing to say that it would ever come here. In the meantime, however, I have had years of pleasure and music.
      I learned from the world of high-end photography, that one can waste decades waiting for the next best item to come out... but the wiser thing is to just to buy the best you can afford TODAY... and enjoy. We are here once, there is not a lot of time to waste.
      I wish you great luck and happiness with any accordion you get... we are kind of a rare thing today, and as accordionists, we are all from one family as far as I am concerned. :)
      Thank-you for taking the time to post, I appreciate it!

      Thank-you fir posting! the 80's was indeed a good time for accordions, the push for electronic sounds was the start of what we see today. Yamaha nade some great sound modules and I still even have a Yamaha FB-01. I aksi have a couple of the older accordions with "vintage" electronic sounds and they still work well today, though sadly I can see a time when they will just stop working.

    Thank you for your detailed presentation. I don't know if this has been presented and I have missed it, but is it possible to remove the reverb at 25:50 from the samples? They sound great, but the reverb is awful. Thanks in advance. Cheers!

    • @JerryPH
      @JerryPH  4 года назад +1

      Thank-you for taking the time to post! A few comments if I may... first, yes the reverb is adjustable from none to perhaps 3 times more than what is heard... no this video is not editable once on RUclips. Second, this recording was not meant to be a quality sound capture, it was clearly just a demo of what it sounds like doing nothing but turning it on and the manner in which the sound was captured was the worst of all possible means, by video camera microphone. Lastly, reverb in any use from none to full overblown is very subjective/personal. Some don't want any, some like a little, some want a lot. The V-accordion can accommodate all manners of tastes in this area.

      @@JerryPH Perfect. Thank you very much for your detailed response. I didn't mean to sound rude with my question (as you said, it is indeed a matter of personal taste and it's great that the V-accordion can accommodate all needs). The fact that it can behave exactly like an acoustic accordion was one of the features i was most interested in, and it was a bit hard to find out from what videos of this model are available on RUclips. Thanks again! Cheers!

    Hi Jerry
    Have you ever connected to an iPad and used GarageBand? I tried going out of the USB port, but got a message on the iPad saying “not recognized format”. I have an FR4.

    • @JerryPH
      @JerryPH  6 лет назад +2

      Currently Roland makes no IOS compatible apps and the Roland format is proprietary, so basically that means that there is no official iPad support. That said, there are some IOS devices out there that can send MIDI signals to the Roland (I own an 8X and honestly, have not even seen a 4X in person yet). Some people are able to have apps change register and set settings while displaying a PDF file. These are things that I will learn about in the future. Right now, as limited as my time is, I am in to many other projects in life.
      I hope that answers your question... at least a little! :-)

    Dear Jerry, I have to thank you for the help you gave me to better understand FR8X.
    I bought this fantastic instrument from a professional musician who has it a little
    scrambled.
    Everything works but the real problem is the very noisy keyboard like old typewriter machine!
    My question is: do you know a tutorial how to disassemble this keyboard? the technician
    electronic says he does not know how to repair the keyboard and the traditional accordion technician says
    who does not know how to disassemble an electronic tool. Nice problem ..
    Do you have something to suggest? Thanks my friend (sorry for my English i am Italian)

      Giangi, you are welcome, thanks for taking the time to post! Yes, mechanically the 8X are not the best thing out there, but they are a LOT of fun and can make awesome music.

    Yep. My Fr7v is malfunctioning and Roland took 1 year to tell me they no longer repair the model. $6000.00 turned into unusable trash. Just in a 12 yr span. Don't think I'll do that again.

      @@JerryPH Sordina switch does not work, set buttons only navigate up,demo does not wrk.(d.n.w) Main master switch d.n.w. as i play the left hand may change sounds and right hand sound fades in n out. If i did not have my foot pedal I would not b able to play it at all. This all happened at once too. I can't play in public or on commission because of the accordions mind does what it does on its own. I was prepared to send it to Roland. Took them 8 months of me calling, emailing just to get an answer of we no longer have parts for this model. Fr7 ser.#zv30848.
