- Not A Normal Restaurant Experience 🇵🇭 Philippines
Here in Cebu City, Philippines, you have to try lechon! Even though you come to this restaurant for lechon, I found a different Filipino food that was my favorite, not lechon. The Philippines has various foods throughout the country, but here I eat my favorite Filipino food. Another aspect of this Filipino restaurant that stood out from the rest was the friendliness and hospitality shown to me by the staff here! Thank you for watching!

"Cebu Lechon" is the Best in the World. According to Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmerman who visited Cebu, Philippines 🇵🇭. Both of them are Chef Cook, Author, Americans and have a Food Network Channel in the U.S.A. You can eat Lechon with your hand or fork, spoon, chopsticks, whichever you prefer, we Filipinos eat it with our hands..😂 I always subscribe to your Channel Jonathan, always: God Bless, "Amping" meaning in Bisaya dialect Take Care!...
The best in the Philippines. Not in the world..
#Overproud
Lechon is a must in Cebu! 3:58 They also serve classic Bibingka & Puto Bumbong. 8:25 Kinilaw and Baked Scallops NICE! 😋👍
Filipino hospitality is extremely wholesome ❤Enjoy Brother Jonathan 😊
I completely agree! Thank you for watching!
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL Hey Bro 😎 Happy New Year 🎆 I presume you’re still in the USA 🇺🇸 I’ll be going back to the Philippines 🇵🇭 soon. Stay safe
OMG bring on the food. I’ve heard so many good things about that place. Definitely on the food bucket list.
That's the place to go in Cebu City!
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL In which place were you? There are, like, four places of the House of Lechon, in Cebu.
Really? I didn't know that. This was near Ayala Mall in the Business district @@i-am-your-conscience
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL there is even one from them on Bohol now, in Tagbilaran, if I remember correctly ;)
Oh my gosh the customer service is amazing!! They were just super happy to serve you. I have never received that type of customer service in Canada ahahahh
It is a hard competition for Lechon in Cebu.. But most people you ask will say either House of Lechon or Ricos Lechon.. In terms of the big places..
I prefer this one, "House of Lechon" because they also have a good selection of other authentic filipino dishes in a good quality.
I love how they informed you the way to eat the kinilaw with the rice cracker. I would definitely have the vinegar, soy sauce and calamansi sauce for the lechon., though I would try the spicy sauce. When you were dipping the lechon in the vinegar, soy sauce and calamansi sauce, I swear I smelled the lechon for a second 😂. I would definitely visit this place. Thanks for the video on this!
My wife is Filipina from Mindanao. We’ve been married for 30 years and live in CT. My son is also Filipino and his wife. They told me the best Lechon is in Talisay, Cebu.
Hi Jonathan, I think from watching your videos that the hospitality and friendliness of the people always takes first place when in the Philippines. It is great advertising to the local restaurants in which you eat.
Hi Jonathan ! Wow I can’t believe you’re there close to where i leave. At downtown Cebu City ! If you get a chance, come visit the “Temple of Leah “ , and theres a restaurant there called “ Cebu Tops “ which is overlooking the mountain view . Also check out the Sirao Garden . Have fun exploring the city of Cebu ! 😁🇵🇭❤️
oohh that's the viewpoint place!? I wanted to go there but didn't get a chance! I already left but will have to do it next time! Thanks for the suggestion!
@@travelescapesOFFICIALyes i think so . Lol
Ya visit it next time when you come back. Ayu-ayu ! ❤😁
The way everyone happily took the pig back just so you could record it being brought in was amazing lol. What a nice and hospitable group. That lechon looks delicious.
Wow Jonathan, I am now starving. Love watching your videos. My wife is from Cebu. Been married to my Filipino now for eight years and I love Filipino food here in LA California.
hahah sorry for making you hungry! I made myself hungry editing this one. Oh yeah, I bet there are a lot of Filipino restaurants on the west coast since it's "closer" to the Philippines. Thank you for watching the videos!
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL I do have one question some of the episodes you have this girl name Ann do you know her age? My wife and I have a bet
Man, avoid saying "my Filipino". Filipinos having been colonised and treated like lower class citizens or even slaves by the Spanish and then the Americans, it gives off a degrading tone like owning someone as an object (or a slave). Say "my Filipino wife" instead. Just a friendly tip 😊
lechon can be eaten either by using your hand (fingers) or with a fork
@@Yjn75i guess even american have some typo errors sometimes 🙂
I love that place!!! So dang good. Can't wait to go back! Great video...
it's sooo good!
I'll be back in February to video some knife makers and visit my Filipino family. Hit me up then and we'll do a collaboration vid. Perhaps an old fashioned Lechon roast in the heart of Bamboo village. If you're in town. @@travelescapesOFFICIAL
Makes me want to fly to Cebu and just eat!
😂
Great video again. The food videos and just hanging out with the locals are always some of my favorites.
Thanks Jason! Plenty more of those types of videos to come!
30.November i am back in Cebu ans try the food at House of Lechon !!!
Best Regards,
Erwin Zado
you definitely should! Try that kinilaw with the coconut milk! It's served over ice, so it's nice and cold!
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL I try it and let you know if i like it !
Keep doing videos my man you're energy and cheerful disposition in life is what brings out the best in everyone you meet. So much fun watching your vids ❤
Thank you for saying that! All of their energy in this video definitely brought out my positive mood here too! They were a super fun staff at this restaurant!
How do you not get fat just eating all the time? 🤣🤣
I eat healthier off camera. My rule is that when I'm filming, I can eat anything. When the camera is off it's a lot of exercise and hard boiled eggs haha
Has someone ever told you that you look like Chris Daughtry?
Hahaha back in high school when he was on American idol people used to call me that. I forgot about him !
Hey Jon...thanks for sharing your lunch with us. Yes...my mouth was watering! Are you easy to find when U.S. foreigners arrive for a chat?
Hey Dave! I'm hard to track down honestly haha... I'm always traveling to make videos. In the last couple months I made videos in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Davao city, Samal, Siquijor, Cebu city, Moalboal, and Carmen. I'm rarely in one place for too long so it makes it difficult, but I run into viewers all the time! It's definitely possible we run into each other!
I went to this same restaurant a few months ago lol. Probably the best food I had during my visit in cebu
I agree! Great restaurant!
Thank you, Jonathan. Cebu and House of Lechon are places I need to add to my bucket list.
Wow so must be very special 😂 they’re doing it for you!!! ❤
Hey Mitch! Thanks for watching! Doing what for me?
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL the letchon take two so you can get nice shots
Jonathan, how do you get around? Do you have a bike or take public transport?
I tried to get my license here in cebu but they said only permanent residents can get it. Curious if you've had similar issues
I’m Cebu I was just walking and taking taxis. I’m not sure about the process of getting the local license though
Hi Jonathan, there's a House of Lechon here in Tagbilaran, Bohol also. The food is very good also especially the kinilaw & baked scallops. We celebrated our mother's 2nd death anniversary by having our lunch there last October 28. Ayo-ayo, amazing ❤️
You should also try CNT lechon..very tasty one!
Hi Jonathan. I'm a newer follower and love your videos. Thank you
Ooo nice thank you!!
If you eat spicy food in Cebu, it is really spicy. In Manila, it may not be that spicy. Try the Bicol express in Bicol.
Oooo maybe food in Cebu is spicier then?! That’s the only island where I noticed things being spicy actually. And I’ll have to try that if I get to Bicol!
You just got a new subscriber. Subscribed not only because you do Philippines based content, but because I can tell that you genuinely love and enjoy everything you do here. On behalf of filipinos, we watching your videos is our own way of saying "I know right" to every foreigner saying "this is so good".
Also, did you just say you love food with coconut milk and that you love spicy? Sir, may I borrow a moment of your time to introduce the Express that is made out of Bicol
The only mistake is......... WHY THE F YOURE DRIKING WATER WITH ALL THE FOOD!!!!!.... all of that is best pulutan.
Bro when the manager comes out like that try to ask them to let you in the kitchen see the process they probably want to show their restaurant it's win-win
They actually contacted me months ago about doing something like that, but this trip to Cebu was short-notice, so I didn't speak with them before coming that day... I still feel like I got excellent customer service that day! But you're right, seeing the whole process would have been better!
You picked the correct Kinilaw. Always go for the Tanigue. Tanigue is Spanish Mackerel.
Wow my favorite lechon ..So yummy cebu is the best lechon u ever had ❤🎉😊
It definitely is the best spot for Lechon!
It is probably better to make Vlog alone or more in private because of privacy issues. Yes, it certainly is a form of promotion for Local business but not everybody wants to be video taped. You almost would need special permission of the business owner. Too much crowded place would also leed to too much noise or interferences (Like the baby crying or yelling). I guess you also must avoid places that plays a lot of music. The restaurant looks great! 🤓 ❤ 👍👍 👁
Wow! I’m drooling 🤤 🤤 those foods are looking super lami 😋😋 . Kinilaw Tangigue isda ( Tangigue is a Mackerel type of fish ) . Baked scallops 🤤🤤🤤 yummmmmy. Does anyone know where this House of Lechon located in Cebu ?
Thank you for visiting Cebu, my birthplace, hope to visit in a couple of years❤❤
Omg you are in Cebu. I hope you could come and visit Zamboanga City. I would be happy to welcome you with open arms.Enjoy your stay in the Philippines.
You vlogging businesses will definitely help boost a certain establishement helping them in so many ways.So nice ok f them to give you complimentary food. ❤❤❤❤

Hi I'm a filipina watching from Kuwait
Thank you for watching from Kuwait!
I just retired and I’m planning a trip to the Philippines and I will look for your videos for more information. Thank you for sharing your trips bro 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hello Sir! Thank you for appreciating the Filipino people and the food. For your question, you can eat it with your bare hand or with fork and spoon. Usually in the province we eat it with our hands especially if we eat with our family or friends like the boodle fight. I hope you enjoy your staying here in the Philippines. God bless you and take care.
I'm going yo Rico's someday.Been dreaming of trying their food.Awesome staff and gorgeous place.
13:40 We'd eat anything with our hands if we feel like it. I wonder if you've tried the 'Takubo' kinilaw. A huge clam shell. I miss that dish. Just gotta make sure it's really fresh though. So do find a reliable source if you want to try it.
That lemon grass tea drink is the best. I always make it at home cos it's my family's favourite drink. Kinilaw with gata (coconut milk) is super delish 😋 and paired with lechon, wow ! What a meal 😋🤩 keep safe Jonathan and God bless you always 🙏 🤗🍀🙌❤️
I have to start making that iced lemongrass tea at home also! It might be a life changer 😂 and yes! I was very happy with my food choices here! Thank you for watching!
Lami kaayo ang Excellent customer service. Kudos!!!🎉
Fun fact, Kinilaw is older than Saviche, considering the style and use of coconut vinigar, it is likely that Kinilaw influenced mexicans through the galleon trade and saviche was born.
Kinilaw is pre-hispanic.
Oh really?! I didn’t know that!
As a vegan, I just couldn’t watch the chopping of the whole pig.
Yeah, I understand that. Thank you for watching the other videos though!
Hey Jonathan ! Do you have any plans on visiting Bantayon Island ? I would love to see how that compares to Bohol.
That’s been super high on my list for a long time! The only reason I haven’t visited is the long trip up there! 😂 I’d like to get up there before too long though!
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL cool. I’m sending my fiancé over to Bohol next week. Probably starting at Anda and exploring back towards the ferry area. Going through your videos looking for a nice place to build a house. I’ve narrowed down to Bantayon , Bohol ,Siargao or Dauin area. I figured you spent lots of time in Bohol , you know that island well. Thanks 😊
Have you ever beenin sunburst fried chicken i highly recommend for anybody who loves fried chicken i thin it had transfered in mango ave. the place was formerely rustans
That kinilaw fish is king mackerel 😊 and it’s making me hungry 😂😂😂😂😂
Watching and subscribing from Mindanao! God bless you and be safe always.
Can't wait to go to Cebu and try that, I'm a huge scallops fan and those look delicious! Also, when I was in Baguio I found a very nice little Cafe that had the best hot lemon grass tea....I miss the philippines so much!
Edit....I think your waiter likes you!....lol
I actually couldn’t even taste the scallops though 😂 the cheese flavor was the most prominent flavor in those. All of the food was very good though!
Letchon is eaten with hands. More lami than using forks😅. Hate you bro, you made me crave letchon😅
Tangigue (bisaya)
Tanigue (tagalog)
is spanish mackerel.
That fish kinilaw is tangigi is spanish mackerel in english.
if possible... we eat everything with our hands, even if its a very saucy adobo on rice... it just makes everything taste a lot better
I have eaten here multiple times. This is near to my office before pandemic. It's not just lechon that's delicious here.
7:46
“Tangingi” is kingfish.
There’s no rule whether or not “lechon” is eaten with the silverware or with the hand.
The “kinilaw” on the rice cracker, I believe, is for a crackling texture against the softened fish in sauce.
*mang tomas (liver sauce)* is still the best pair or the best sauce for lechon baboy
that's according to many filipinos i know
The left over bring it hime you can make taco 🌮 litchun, i’m slobbering with that fish 🐠 kinilaw,
oh that would be good! I gave it to someone on the street that day, though.
I was there, but nobody greet you as they did in this video, they were all busy.Lechon ok.but not what i expected. Maybe not my day.
You should try Bicol Express..that dish with coconut milk too..
Also try bagnet from ilocos and crispy pata. Just take some cholesterol medication after
I can say that you are a vlogger who truly embrace our culture because you spend most of your time in the province where life is not so very convenient compared to the city life. You come to experience Filipinos resilience.
Lechon hospitality and a hospital in case your high blood pressure shoots up, bring your heart medication.
Another incredible video ….. I’m sure we all can say, “We are hungry for Lechon”. The food looks better than any US Restaurant that I’ve been to. Every time you mention “Kinilaw” it makes me want to try it more and more. Thank you again for such a wonderful video.
been there. good lechon! we visited at night and we were so worried that there are no more lechon left. more often it goes out so fast.
Oooo it sells out throughout the day?! I suppose that makes sense as I’m sure they want fresh Lechon and very day there. Maybe it’s better for go for lunch then it possible
💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕thank for promoting our food 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Last time I was there, they ran out of lechon, I was mad as hell,
Fortunately one of the hostesses was able to allocate a kilo of lechon, I was so grateful!
Proud guy here in Canada!! Born and race in cebu city!! 12 years never been home i miss my city!! Shout out all my cebuanos people !! Always watching your vlog right now !Stay safe and enjoy your travel in Philippines🫰🫰🫰
Love the food videos as I will never have the opportunity to eat those things. Keep up the good work.
Mister limpo is my favorite in cebu,or down at the food court in carbon market
funny the owners are the ones worried about you, when they see a camera they are worried about their business, having the girls there would have been better
We usually eat inasal or lechon with our hands with poso or hanging rice.
Now missing all those food, especially the fresh seafood there.
Impossible to be spicey the mdat is to thick for the spice to penetrate the meat
That food looks great...
What was the name of that restaurant
It was! House of Lechon
Awww. They did a Lil reality TV in the beginning. They so nice. Thanks for the vid sir
I actually Ike seeing you eating and getting the instant reaction.
😂 I wasn’t expecting all of that from the staff there! Haha thank you for watching!
You are making my mouth water! I miss lechon.
I thought Jonathan doesn't eat dairy products
Couldn't help but wonder how much cholesterol are in those foods you ate there lol
It's better to eat with your hand you feel delicious
suggestion: Loboc floating restaurant
Kinilaw it takes at least an hour to marinate the raw fish in all the ingredients, try also the lato sea weeds
I wonder if going to cebu has anything to do with going to osmena peak is it?
That was one of the plans.. I was in Moalboal but then had to go back to Cebu to see a doctor. Trip got canceled unfortunately
