    it's very practical to work without a closed box. is there a way to achieve this using the sun and sky system?
    Thanks!

    Hello Micheal, I have a quick question, i see you connecting the Redshift Dome Light in to the Portal Light. But is this step really needed? I have never done this before, for example if I already have a Dome light in the scene and create a Portal Light afterwards, it looks like its working just fine. Does the PortalLight.EnvironmentShader need to have a input connection to a dome light? Does this give better results? in the Redshift help files it says that its for overruling the Redshift Environment Output Settings. So i think that means that if you already have a environment setup, that you can make the portal light use a different Dome for quering / taking the rays from?

    so, the CORRECT way is disabling affect diffuse and specular at domelight?

    • @SmallRobotStudio
      @SmallRobotStudio  7 лет назад

      It's the only way that I'm aware of.

      Small Robot Studio didnt knew that. so the portal has no effect if we dont disable spec and diffuse at domelight huh? just trying to verify because i never think that this way lol

      The portal will still work however the domelight will still light your scene as well as the portal, if you're just looking to have the portal light be the light source then yes you will have to disable diffuse/spec on the dome light. If you're just wanting extra light through a window or something and still want the dome light to light the scene you can leave spec/diff enabled.

    Is it possible to put an alpha mask in the portal transparency tab ? thanks for your tuts ! I will soon buy a redshift licence that I will use with maya and houdini

      Yes but you'd need to have your black value slightly above 0 for it to work, white value can still be 1 however.

      Bro! Go Windows>Relationship Editors>Light Linking> Object Centric --- select the object you want and what lights you want to have affect it.

    Thank you for this video, i was just wondering what kind of pc spec do you have?
    I have gtx 980m 8gb. should i buy redshift? How fast is redshift? Thank you very much for this video. Make more, Liked and subscribed

      +Mr Fox I have an intel i7 6700k and a gtx 1070 (desktop) as well as 32gb of RAM. If you want to see how an 980 fares so far as render speed goes check out my Redshift first impressions video I was using my old computer there that had a 980 (also desktop) and a i7 3770. I'd recommend getting the trial to decide if it's right for you (trial is free) then you'll be able to decide for yourself whether it's worth it :)
