On maya 2016.5 and higher, you need to set the Viewport 2.0 rendering engine to "OpenGL - legacy", the lights also display correctly in the legacy and HQ viewport. (this is a known issue, on maya 2016.5+ the legacy lights are different but the guys on RS need to implement this..) To set the Open GL to legacy go to: Windows settings and preferences preferences look for display and on display go to viewport 2.0 Change the rendering engine from "Open GL - Core Profile to OpenGL - legacy The downside from this is that you loose much of the great things from the Core profile.
Subscribed man waiting for the next episode, keep it up , no one is posting tutorials for redshift if you go fast and nice with a quality redshift series you will be the go to place to learn redshift and get some quality loyal subscribers. Thank you for this high quality informative tutorial keep it coming :).
Im working right now on 2 tutorials for physical sky, one for indoors and one for outdoors and also the dome light tutorial, first week of January www.artstation.com/artwork/435q2 this is the indoor scene ( I'm going to let people download the scene also )
I have been quite busy these days I will do my best to take time to finish the two tutorials that I have on queue. Physical Sky for indoors and outdoors
Hey! @Jesus Fernandez Thank you for the very in depth tutorial on lighting in Redshift! I'm on the fence of picking up a copy or not, playing around with the tutorial. It was very informative and great! thanks!
Thank you so much bob, Yes you can look into my channel I have some more tutorials here, and try to upload one per week. Also I have some premium tutorials on my Patreon page. www.patreon.com/jesusfc Where you can download scenes an more content.
hey man, great tutorial. it was so helpful tbh. i have a request. would you please make tutorial for maya dynamics redshift render (liquid, fire, smoke etc)
Hola!
Hello Eyedin, what you need to do is to first select the mesh that you want to have as an emitter, after that hold shift and select the light and look for the link attribute on the physical link and click it. That should make the link
the light fog part is not working in my PC,my video card is 2080ti,Why it's not working?I do exactly what U said.first create a atmosphere-redshiftVolumnescattering,then improve the number of Contribution scale, and nothing happens.
im getting an issue with redshift when i try to use it with ncloth. Anything with a passive collider or any kind of ncloth properties shows up as a red surface shader material in IPR. any ideas? this is a really weird redshift issue and i cant seem to find an answer anywhere.
RS reads ncloth as particles, try to hide the ncloth parts on the outliner. ncloth is basically particles so you see them that way, that is a Known bug. sorry for the late answer, a lot of freelances
thanks for the tut. I have a question, when I create a physical light in redshift it does not appear expect if I change viewport 2.0 to legacy default viewport, is it normal ?

You now can make better instances with Mash and has native support, that could be easier with mash than with xgen. for the texturing fur tutorial I have some on my Patreon and I need to finish the one that I have here the from concept to render series.www.patreon.com/jesusfc
good tutarial for me thanks! , i need for architectural ................................................................................................
This is extremely helpful! There's no one doing any tutorials on Redshift besides you. Hope you continue doing this and cover as much as possible. Will you be doing only lighting or will you cover other stuff as well? Like using it with X-Gen?
I will try to cover everything that I know of, but I will start from the basics, and yes xgen is a big one for me ( you can follow me on my livestreams mostly xgen there)
the icons for my redshift physical lights arent showing up in viewport, any idea whats going on? they work fine in the renders. sorry im a huge noob to redshift but super excited about it. great video :)
how can i exclude light shape being reflected and refraction on the surface of the objects , its annoying i know u can turn of specular and diffuse contribution but it doesnt work well
That's weird, It should work normally. Its the same configuration that I'm using. Maybe you could try reinstalling Redshift, the only option that I can think of its that you don't have it active, on preferences, plugin manager.
man i test it in maya 2016 now .. working fine redshift available under Arnold Renderer but in 2017 something wrong .. anyway thank man for helpful tutorial
who care about voice if is it clear i have watch tutorials with google man voice translateor :( @jesus fernandez can u explane best setting light in a cinematic not in studio thax great tut btw sub
cant see the lights in the viewports in maya 2017, know a solution for this?
On maya 2016.5 and higher, you need to set the Viewport 2.0 rendering engine to "OpenGL - legacy", the lights also display correctly in the legacy and HQ viewport. (this is a known issue, on maya 2016.5+ the legacy lights are different but the guys on RS need to implement this..)
To set the Open GL to legacy go to:
Windows
settings and preferences
preferences
look for display
and on display go to viewport 2.0
Change the rendering engine from "Open GL - Core Profile
to OpenGL - legacy
The downside from this is that you loose much of the great things from the Core profile.
Thanks again! :D
been looking for this solution forever
I realize Im kinda randomly asking but do anybody know a good place to stream new series online ?
@Angelo Yehuda flixportal :D
One of the best redshift tutorials.
Don't stop,we need more tutorials for redshift.
I will try to keep the flow one tutorial per week

Nice work, did you do post processing on that image?
I used a little of post enhancing the golden reflections.
I just downloaded and starting messing around with Redshift today. Its so fast! Im super excited about this tutorial series :)
Thanks I'm working on dome light and physical sky tutorials right now.
I cant wait :)
this is one of the two scenes for the tutorial jesusfc.net/redshift/scene-physical-sky-tutorial/
Yes, finally someone covering Redshift. Subscribed
I have been quite busy these days I will do my best to take time to finish the two tutorials that I have on queue. Physical Sky for indoors and outdoors
this is a very clear and helpful tutorial. I am excited to watch the others! thank you!

Thank you so much! I'm glad that you found it useful!
really great tutorial! Informative, but concise and straightforward.
Nice work Jesus, thanks for sharing. have you made new tutorials?

Thank you
thanks for this great tutorial dude !
Glad that you like it!
I love those videos
great stuff man I've subscribed looking forward to the next tutorial. You can do this for a side job on RUclips probably. Best of luck
I will try to, It takes a tool on the time but almost done with the second tutorial.

very nice.
What do you do Redshift the light mesh? I can't follow the manual.

Thank you!!
Thanks for the support!
Good tutorial! A question? Do you know how to load a redshift shelf in maya? Thanks
im getting an issue with redshift when i try to use it with ncloth. Anything with a passive collider or any kind of ncloth properties shows up as a red surface shader material in IPR. any ideas? this is a really weird redshift issue and i cant seem to find an answer anywhere.

no worries, thanks for the help! hiding all the nrigids in the outliner did it :)
I think that this issue is going to be fixed if not fixed already on the new releases.
thanks for the tut. I have a question, when I create a physical light in redshift it does not appear expect if I change viewport 2.0 to legacy default viewport, is it normal ?

Can you make a tut on texturing fur and instances with xgen with redshift?
You now can make better instances with Mash and has native support, that could be easier with mash than with xgen. for the texturing fur tutorial I have some on my Patreon and I need to finish the one that I have here the from concept to render series.www.patreon.com/jesusfc
I have a question, could you or anyone tell me how to model the butterflies part in maya? Is this particles or something else?
good tutarial for me thanks! , i need for architectural
................................................................................................
I will go for Archviz a little bit on the physical sky for indoors
please share it with us . thank you !!
Hi! Can u make a tutorial for Emissives on Redshift for Maya, Im trying to input a material with some Emissive splash
This is extremely helpful! There's no one doing any tutorials on Redshift besides you.

nvm! just went through comments and found the answer to this. thanks for being so helpful!
Glad I could help you!.
how can i exclude light shape being reflected and refraction on the surface of the objects , its annoying
i know u can turn of specular and diffuse contribution but it doesnt work well
The best way to do it is to use the break light links on the rendering tab.
thank you man it worked
i just forget about the lightlinking in maya
@@JesusFernandez14 How do you exclude light form a specific object? Thanks. The light linking in relationship editor doesn't work
how to render xgen groom in redshif (in preview/output .. output setting tap) only arnold available
Which version of redshift and maya do you use? It should be available on the Preview/Output just under Arnold Renderer
2.0.79
maya 2017
That's weird, It should work normally. Its the same configuration that I'm using. Maybe you could try reinstalling Redshift, the only option that I can think of its that you don't have it active, on preferences, plugin manager.
man i test it in maya 2016 now .. working fine redshift available under Arnold Renderer but in 2017 something wrong .. anyway thank man for helpful tutorial
thanks it was helpfull !!!
i am confused, why do i need passes, criptomitte, ids, i am really confused

de donde eres amigo?
gracias por este hermoso tutorial
De Costa Rica, Con gusto!
part 2 ?
Incoming, almost done actually. some freelance work hit me really hard and almost no free time but I have the video recorded already.

Is that your voice? sounds kinda robotic.
I'm a robot from the future, that found really hard to pronounce the irst sound on First.
Is it a yes or a no? e.e
it is
