  • This is a compilation of several 35 mm Kodak Kodachrome color slides taken August 23-25, 1972 in St. Louis, Pacific, and Eureka, Missouri. It starts off in Forest Park at the Saint Louis Zoological Park and moves to a theme park known as Six Flags St. Louis. Listed in my father's journal is a mule-powered merry-go-round, ski ride, roller coaster, log ride, Columnade Restaurant, antique car ride, tilting whip ride, lost parents caboose, miniature autos, and the parking lot train. dolphin show, and various park shots. One photo of The Black Madonna Shrine in Pacific, MO. There is a exterior shot of the Anheuser Busch Plant and a Budweiser Clydesdale. After that are a few scenes from atop the Gateway Arch. Mom is looking out the window, a couple of shots of Busch Stadium, Old Courthouse, Santa Maria replica and a riverboat, The famous Eads Bridge, and a few other scenes. Lastly, a trip to the Museum Of Transportation. I'm inside the cab of the electric Milwaukee Road locomotive cab. A shot of the old 4-4 steam locomotive. There is a shot of the 9908 Silver Charger, which drew the General Pershing Zephyr train and the Frisco 2-10-0 numbered 502 I am walking in front of.

These photos are incredible. The clarity would make you think they were taken just last week.

Was there ever a better time to be alive? We lived in O’Fallon. This hits me right in the chest. Thank you, sir.

Nice to see The Sky-Way again. We rode it like crazy in 1978 days before that stupid accident. It was my favorite ride and I never got to ride it again after that.

I remember riding it a few times. Ive even got some old 8mm film my dad shot of it, the sports cars and other things, just guessing its probably from back in the mid 70's, probably 76-78

That is my friend Elfi doing the dolphin show at Six Flags. We were in college at St Louis University at the time. I have wonderful memories of watching that show, and Elfi allowing us to pet the dolphins.

Very cool. I grew up in St Louis. I was two when these were taken. The mule powered merry go round was gone by the time I got to Six Flags.
