You could have just said Jojo's Bizarre Advanture - Fate, lol. That's literally how to sum it up. For example the themes of luck and courage were already explored in part 1, or may I say the themes of luck and pluck. Legacy is basically present in every part, it is not peculiar to part 3, even in part 1, Jonathan, Dio and William were influenced by the decisions of their parents. Gravity and resolve were present in part 4 as well, with Hazamada explaining that stand users' are attracted to eachothers and Joseph's comment on the "golden heart" of the young people in Morioh. Resolve is also present in part 6, that determination that guided Jolyne, Emporio and the others towards the right path. And seeing how the lava rock's mechanism is working in part 9, it isn't really that different from how the arrow worked in parts 4, 5 and 6. They are all different manifestations of the same concept of fate and its relationship with human nature

I really like how mysterious the lava rock still is. We are only scratching the surface of how its mechanism operates, and it's both exciting and horrifying to think about what could happen because of it. It's a real monkey's-paw situation.
Maybe the lava rock will create some monkey's paw scenarios, you receive what you want but you never know what will be sacrificed for it to happen, maybe nothing, maybe everything.
some stand out characterization moments i wanna point out that i liked. Paco: He comments on the absurdity and cruelty of a bystander, in this case the clerk to suffer harshly by simply being in the vicinity of a conflict she isn't a part of or even aware of. Paco is a nice guy, but everyone that knows him so far only sees him for the klepto that he seemingly is. Usagi: The Matte Kudasai already "subtly" hinted at this facet of his character, but i think it's here that i find it is really obvious now. Usagi is incredibly depedent on other people...Or I guess more accurately he's really desperate for approval. Considering the circumstances though I can't really blame him for breaking down the way he did here and the previous chapter...
something i also wanna point out is that before Dragona informed Jodio that he had grabbed the stand. we have a scene of Jodio in distress. and a brief single panel. of Jodio showing a rare emotion for him so far. He shows disbelief and seems on the verge of tears
I think it's very interesting how the lava rock has potentially caused the death of this receptionist lady. The lava rock seems to manipulate fate with improbable, but possible events to facilitate transfers of ownership, so it stands to reason it would have to force some people into extreme situations to do something as significant as giving Jodio's gang the ownership over Howler's land.

Unlike previous protagonists, Jodio developed his powers pretty early on in his childhood, and we are supposed to believe that by the start of the series, he, Dragona and Paco are already experienced stand users. They are nothing like Jotaro, part 4 Josuke, Jolyne or Johnny who at the start of the story just got their stands or are still un'esperienced with them. They are more similar to Giorno and part 8 Josuke who already had been using their stands from a bit before the start of their adventure, even though Giorno was new to stand battles and part 8 Josuke lost his memory as Josefumi and the fusion with Kira had altered the stand's ability like he discovers later. Jodio, Dragona and Paco have been working for Meryl Qi for years it seems. And even Usagi and Charming Man seem to be somehow experienced in the use of their stands. They aren't noobs like the previous protagonists
If the Lava Rock actually ends up being a twist Villain im going to have the biggest grin on my face. Jodio must claim the mechisms for his own, or be stuck forever as a cog to grand fated mechanisms.
You know, I'm actually getting similar vibes to Chariot Requiem from how the Lava Rock has been acting. Twice out of the the three times we've seen it draw in wealth it's made a Stand act unconsciously, much like how Chariot Requiem did at the endnof part 5. This is probably just scattershot speculation because Bags Groove is an automatic type, so it's not like the little girl was losing control over it like Dragona was, but it is at least an interesting theory to consider for early part speculation.
Not all of them, tho. Obviously the antagonists will most likely all be stand users but Howler Co. seems to be a mega corporation it would be strange if everyone was a Stand user.
This isn’t related to the video but I’m confused with something in stone ocean. Why can’t Pucci take every stand that he wants to use against Jolyne (and the others) and use them himself? For example, when Jolyne is in the maximum security part of the prison, Pucci sends 4 stand users to kill her. Couldn’t he take all of the 4 stand discs and use them himself?
Im worried about the extent of the lava rock. Its bad storytelling to be like "characters have no agency, everyones being influenced by the rock and cant make choices". It hasnt got to that point yet but hopefully Araki avoids that issue.
MY theory is still that the longer the rock needs to attract wealth the more value it will lose, like wehn Dragona and Usagi tried out the watch it was like 10000$ but when Dragona got it back it only was 30$.

Nothing like a new video by Ham on Beets Once again the lava rock's ability is considered as both absurd and a mechanism, Jodio sees the world through "mechanisms" the idea that everything follows a certain logic that once understood can be used to his advantage, Dragona sees the world as "absurd" and that the things around them are unknowable and uncontrollable and that there's no point in trying to understand them. The lava rock somehow exhibits both attributes simultaneously and I dread to know who else will be sacrificed by its absurd mechanisms
I'm curious if the final antagonist of the part will either have or eventually gain the power to fully control these absurd mechanisms to favor them alone similar to the Lava stone because it could be interesting thematically for Jodio and the gang having to fight the thing that's been helping them this part. The only thing stopping me from fully believing in this idea is that it might be too similar to Wonder of U's calamity and I don't think Araki would have a final antagonist's main powers from back-to-back parts be the same, so IDK just a thought I had.
I think the rock's mechanism it the rule of equvivalent exchange applied to fate. It will bend the fate of others and the user to give the user the requested item or concept of value. But it will also give the user a trial that they must endure to claim it. For example in obtaining the diamond they had to fight Rohan and the cats. And to obtain the watch they had to fight Charming man. And now to obtain the deeds fully they will have to fight the forces of Howler. It's a extremly powerfull item since it probably could atleast bend fate itself. What if the item of value wasn't monetary but something else? Like long life or prosperity? Would the rock react to that and bend faith to make it happen?
Could Sophie dying also tie into what Charmingman had said when he first joined the gang as he talked about how Jodio will learn the true “mechanism” of the lava rock?
I wonder if we could retroactively see the influence of 'absurd' in parts 7 and 8. In theory it's a similar system. Flow is a baseline line of events, Calamity is the negative quality of the flow. And absurd, appears to be conjoining the flow into a desired effect. In theory, both WoU and Ticket to Ride as well as Love Train all generated absurd on the side
Give me some more apathetic, nihilistic villains. Toru touched on that element a bit, being indifferent to the calamity he caused to innocent civilians for his goals, but he was also a rock human and acted more like an opportunistic scavenger than a man who just wanted to watch the world burn. And most of the bad guys who help the main villains are either mercenaries with no true loyalty or devoted followers of their leader's ambitions. Having to fight bad guys who are just like "It's just a job to me" adds a level of nuance I'm really interested in seeing Araki explore.
The idea of the main villain being just an organization is interesting but businesses are still led by people with personal motivations. Like how Jodio's MO is to get "filthy rich", a seemingly selfish and un-JoJolike goal, we know that theres still personal and emotional backing behind his reasoning to get rich, and i think the CEO or president of Howler is loke thay as well, just maybe for not as noble reasons. I think Howler will be more like the Rock Human group or La Squadra

I think Howler planted the stand there so whoever takes the deeds would get attack so both of them the girl and the team weren't targeted they just triggered the trap early. As for the reason behind the big bad I think it will be Greed with them doing anything to get more while the team's greed is for others and they won't do anything to get it but as they are on the righteous side fate will benefit them.

Jojolands: Absurd Mechanism Events. I wonder if Howler is a message to corporations greed and only caring about assets. It could be that since American corporate ideologies are getting worse by day. Jojolands been very good so far. You cant tell how this part will end like but i think the chapter we have seen, show that Araki wants this part to unbelievably surprise fans.
I wonder if jodio was under the effect of a lava rock desire as a kid all along and thats why dragona was targeted. I feel like it has to deal with the absent father somehow as he was an insurance agent for something important and the daughter school kid was associated with howler too right?
For araki forgot: If diavolo can’t interact with anything’s while in skipped time, then how is he able to walk without being able to touch the floor. If king crimson can generate a surface for him then does that mean it just makes one wherever his feet are? Can diavolo walk through walls? On that matter, how do his clothes stay on? Though I can somewhat forgive that since it’s not important to the plot. Also, I find it difficult to believe that diavolo would be able to pick up everything in the room in 10 seconds.
Most of these apply to time-stop as well. And since people moving within time-stop are shown to be able to walk and move without any trouble, I fail to see how King Crimson's time skip ability (which acts similarly to time-stop) is an Araki-forgot.

I think Howler planted the stand there so whoever takes the deeds would get attack so both of them the girl and the team weren't targeted they just triggered the trap early.
As for the reason behind the big bad I think it will be Greed with them doing anything to get more while the team's greed is for others and they won't do anything to get it but as they are on the righteous side fate will benefit them.

If diavolo can’t interact with anything’s while in skipped time, then how is he able to walk without being able to touch the floor. If king crimson can generate a surface for him then does that mean it just makes one wherever his feet are? Can diavolo walk through walls? On that matter, how do his clothes stay on? Though I can somewhat forgive that since it’s not important to the plot. Also, I find it difficult to believe that diavolo would be able to pick up everything in the room in 10 seconds.

Most of these apply to time-stop as well. And since people moving within time-stop are shown to be able to walk and move without any trouble, I fail to see how King Crimson's time skip ability (which acts similarly to time-stop) is an Araki-forgot.

My favourite part about this argument people make is how the isolate that completely ignoring how the plot, design and even how dragona addresses herself in the manga all pointing to being trans or gender non conforming and assume Araki the guy known for being incredibly caring about the meaning behind character design apparently just decided to add a femboy for the shit and giggles
