Absolute fantastic podcast, I'm Christian and it's awesome to finally here a Christian man talk like this, not all Christians or angels carry harps, some have swords!
Indeed. Churches ignore the temple, they ignore David's Mighty Men, they ignore that the disciples "talked roughly" aka cussed like the sailors that they were. Churches preach about smoking, drinking, cussing, and porn as being "evils" while ignoring the 10 Commandments. The preachers in many of the churches today aren't preaching from the Bible. They preach about gaining wealth, drinking, smoking etc and the "flock" leaves knowing even less about the Bible than they did when they walked in.

Mike please keep looking. I have spent my adult life in the military and law enforcement I have seen the evil that man can bring. I kept looking and found the love God brings to my life. Open your heart and you can find him too.
I would definitely reaffirm your ideology as it's culling through division on any level. Your love you found is your experience through the worst and the best. With out duality we cannot experience anything. You have to be careful what you classify as love, because unconditional love means the answer to everything is yes. Meditate on that. So if you want be a criminal the answer is yes, if you want to be a cop the answer is yes, you want to be a drug addict the answer is yes, and on and on. Freedom is the ultimate reasonability, which we're currently finding out! This is merely a playground for souls. I struggled with Mike’s question for many years. I reconciled it this way…We have children knowing they will suffer . They will have pain, they will have loss, they will do wrong. We still have children because we know they also will have success, love, and triumphs. I think that is God’s dilemma. Life is both. To give us the good the bad has to come with it. He loves us enough that he wants us to have life despite the pain. But he promises to be there with us through that pain. I don’t have all the answers. But this is my answer.
We live in a fallen state. When Adam and Eve failed they gave life to death. In this world we will have problems because of this fallen state. It is through Jesus we are reconciled back to God. The problems if this world is not Gods blame but ours, our desires to sin based on our fallen nature. Your a smart man Mr Ritland and I hope God reaches you where you are bro.
I would respectfully add the perspective of time. Just like a parent that disciplines a child, or the child falls off of their bike and scrapes their knee, it is a temporary pain to gain a lifetime of knowledge. In God's eyes, 10 years of pain is still worth it because that person can gain a billion plus years of perfect life. A child that dies of cancer has a year or two of pain, then has a billion plus years of perfect life. Without the perspective of time, many questions such as Mike's in the podcast, are focusing on the temporary bad, and ignoring the everlasting good that easily outweighs any bad.
Just wanted to add this comment on the off chance that you might see it Mike, since you liked one reply on this thread. I mentioned it on another comment but decided to put it here as well just in case. Full disclosure, I am a Christian also non-practicing in the church but I still feel close to God. The part of the podcast where you were questioning God's decision to give complete free will to mankind and you mentioned you would probably dial it back due to the heinous things that happened worldwide and even here in our country is what I would like to address (also happen to question the same exact dichotomy). In my opinion, and this is just my opinion on the matter, you would never know the love you feel for a child either watching them being born or the pride and love you feel while that child is growing and succeeding. I don't know your personal life, but I did happen to meet my soulmate. I was lucky I know, but it is a different type of love but no less powerful though still different. I happen to have the best dog I've ever had in my life att and I was raised with hunting dogs, this dog is not a hunting dog he is a mutt but he is the best dog I've ever had in my life and I love him almost like a child (I have put the time and effort to train him as a family dog). I different type of love, but love no less. I don't think we would be able to feel all these types of loves in our life if we did not have the capability to be the antithesis of love. If we could not destroy we could not create. If we could not hate we could not love. If we could not kill we could not create. Sorry for the long diatribe but it was just something I wanted to share. @@MakerInMotion I agree. All cards on the table though, I am a Christian. The only thing I would like to add is about the part of the podcast when Mike says he can't square all the evil in the world because of God giving free will, and that he wood dial it back if he could. My opinion on that, and this is just my opinion, is that if you did not have that complete free will to do the most heinous things to a human being as he describes you would not have the capacity to know the love of/for your soulmate. You would never know the different type of love that you have for your children. These completely different but no less powerful loves I think you would never know if you did not have the choice to act in the complete antithesis of that feeling. If that makes any kind of sense.
I can see your point. I agree with Kyle; this type of discussion is a huge and lengthy one that does not happen in a day. However, I would say that, Biblically, it does seem to indicate that there are different levels of Hell. Two, I’ve also heard the argument that people will be judged based on how they responded to whatever God sent them, as in, a missionary or even one page of Scripture, etc. One thing I will say, and this goes for ANYBODY, Christian or no, is that life is grey. It’s not as simple as the story you just said or even what I said. Like we can argue back and forth ALL DAY about Scripture, but you can NEVER tell me I haven’t experienced what I have experienced, nor can I tell you. That, in my opinion, is where the Holy Spirit works in people. The rest is up to them. But, respectfully, I can understand your comment.

Another great podcast. I appreciate mike that you play devil's advocate so all the issues can be viewed. Though we differ on opinions I love your authenticity. As a Christian I appreciate the views you brought forward because they do exist and we can't deny that. Keep up the good work. 👍
To continue with the warrior Christian theme, John Lovell with Warrior Poet Society, does an excellent job without being in your face about the faith basis. A Mike Drop with John would be outstanding. Battle of the beards.
Have to say, I was skeptical going into this podcast not knowing who Kyle was. After listening to this, one of the most down to earth church-folk I've heard speak. Definitely food for thought.
Great topics- tough conversations and good intentions. I hope we all come together and stand united to become communities and families and real humans again. God bless
Well put..I feel I should mention that the amount of intelligent discourse is eye opening...I found myself proud(?) of my fellow listeners. Deep stuff from a group of toxic males..good stuff Mike! Thanks for keeping it free!
This is one of your best, and one of the best I have heard (in my opinion). Nothing sugarcoated. No worries about cancel-culture. No hiding from the truth. This is the example for others to follow. Thank you.
Mike, thanks for having a guest who is outside the normal realm. I know a lot of veterans don’t care for religion but the spiritual realm is an important part of our being and needs attention. I’d argue that those of us who have seen the dark side of humanity need to consider the spiritual realm a lot more than we are comfortable with. Thanks for letting Kyle share his story with us!
Mike you’re seriously a man I look up to and I’ve learned so much from your podcast therefore I would challenge you in good order to watch 3 RUclips videos of Robert Morris’ series “how do I know” only 30 min each…so refreshing to hear a civilized conversation around Christianity without so much hate and real adoration between parties…best episode by far and hands down
Appreciate the views from both sides of the table tonight, furthermore Mr. Mike, you're not the only one that has asked those questions regarding God. I would say 99% of folks that believe, have asked those questions. If not out loud, then definitely to themselves.
@@johnmacri7440 In a dream world. In the real world, faith includes doubt. Unless you're above doubt, or without doubt, than I call you either lucky, or full of shit.
Much like many comments here, I really like seeing a quality conversation. As a believer, I look at it like this. No one can physically prove God is real, but. If I live my whole life believing in God and when I die God isn't, it costed me nothing other than trying to be a good person. Conversely, if I don't believe in God and do whatever I want and when I die, God was real and I intentionally ignored it, then it will cost me everything for eternity.
The school mentioned by Kyle is in Vail AZ. If you need more info contact the owner of Viva Coffee House in Tucson. He has a whole story of his own. Great people. Dinesh D’Souza will be a guest there in August.
I agree with Mike on most of his takes but this one where he took the Stephen Fry approach solidified my appreciation for his outlook. He literally put a lot of my agnostic thoughts into words I never thought I’d hear so eloquently put. (Long story short I believe in everything, all at once, all at the same time. We just don’t have the science to observe it all yet. Whatever drives molecular motion would be the “controller”. We’ll know when we invest in the science to understand it.) Although hearing Mike have these in depth conversations really makes you understand what they mean when former guys say the teams are made of all walks of life. You’d think they’re all loaded with knowledge purely regarding “operational pursuits” but in reality the stereotype couldn’t be further from the truth. Mike is an excellent example of that and all of his guests!
Food for thought.... God created everything in perfect. It wasn't until the fall of man until all the corruption came about. I do appreciate y'all's opinion or out look on that topic of God. I think more people need to talk about it.
I'm retired military, a friend told me about this conversation. This was a great topic. I've been saying many of these issues for years, glad Your bringing this up. We are in a strange time. I consider myself a warrior for Jesus, But not a wimp and sometimes catch flack over it, but that's OK.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this episode. I loved it 👍🏼👍🏼 2:01:09 Great point. Every problem is not a shooting problem. There are some problems where shooting will get you life in prison. Knowing how to use a lesser safer form of violence like jiu jitsu or wrestling can keep you safe and more importantly not in prison.
Mr.Ritland... It's been a while sir, But you knocked it out of the park again imo. Thank you for what you have done and what you are doing. Please Keep it up and do what you do. Thank you Sir🤘
I listen to all of your podcasts and you’ve had some awesome ones to date, for sure. This guest was by far my favorite. This is what America needs more of. No more sitting on the fence on major, life altering issues.
Epic podcast. Finally able to see some warrior Christians, instead of these weak-sauced, money grubbing Christians focused on their Christian signing career. 😡
@Ryan Wood are Christian Pastors who drive Ferraris, fly in Gulfstreams and live in mega mansions warrior Christians or are they just money grubbing con artists working a grift?
@@mickfunny4185 I don’t see anything wrong with anyone making a decent living. However, as a Pastor, I don’t believe it’s appropriate to live in excess. It’s contradictory to their “calling.”
On the topic of “if God exists then why is the world so messed up”… The way it was explained to me is- you can’t have good without evil, and you can’t have love without hatred. And within the concept of love is the power to choose and make your own decisions because if you really love someone, that doesn’t mean you’re forcing them to do something they don’t want to do. You love them no matter what, for who they are, despite all the mistakes they make. If as a human that’s how we define love, then Gods love for the people he created is infinitely times more than that.
“It” is a baby, “it” is a life. I agree with you on most things but I’m shocked you took that stance. Like Tom Macdonald said in his rap about how stupid people are “bacteria on Mars is life but a heartbeat on earth isn’t?”
The adult conversation is yes it is in fact at in some way life and yes I am for the option (to not be taken lightly at all) to be there for people to make that decision legally and medically safe, with right and left limits. But no one seems to have the balls to say that
I love how you ask a question and then sit back and let your guests talk. A lot of Podcasters interrupt their guests or do most of the talking. Keep up the good work!
Mike, we are the same! My thoughts are the same as yours. Thank you for this podcast. I was raised religious, and I want it to be true, but I struggle every day like you.
Great interview, Mike! I always enjoy your podcast! I can really relate to Kyle as a late-comer to faith and former hoodlum… and now a Free Methodist pastor. Praying for you all! 🙏 PS - I subscribed to Kyle’s channel!
41:10 it’s the parent’s fault. We live in the era of bulldozer parents. They believe their kid should face no adversity what so ever. It breeds entitlement and narcissism.
This is one of the best podcasts I've heard in awhile and I agree with Mike's views (I worked in the horse business and training horses gives the same perspective as training dogs, theres always more to learn and dont pick at the little things), I tend to be exactly in the middle on everything but will always listen to others views, I'm in my early 30s and technically a millenial bit luckily I have a wonderful family and parents to instilled "think for yourself and listen to peoples stories and learn the life lesson", its been hard for me because I have alot of friends who I would put in the woke crowd and in the last year I've been struggling with whether I want to continue having them in my life as they have the view they're right everyone else is wrong with no discussion 😕
Mike, I’m happy to see you willing to engage and challenge yourself. As a Christian, I recommend you listen to some of Dr. James White’s debates defending the faith. Excellent stuff! Your authenticity is refreshing. Love the pod cast!
I have yet to stop a podcast and go subscribe to another podcast and come back to the original podcast as fast as I did with this one. Thank you guys. Amazing conversation!
Late to the party. Watching this interview with my wife right now. I was walking in your shoes 2 years ago. Policing and life in general had crushed me. The evil that men do, can’t be explained, it’s always been there always will be. Love actually saved me. You can’t see it, can’t hold it or touch it. But it’s real, you feel it when it’s real it consumes and comforts and brings hope. That feeling of love is God. Love you give and love you receive is God in you. Actually a verse in the Bible, God is love. You’re a Dog guy, I have Shepherds myself always have. Why do they love you like they do, it ain’t the food you give the ball you throw or the praise you give, dude it’s God. Matter of fact Dog is just God spelled backwards. I will be praying for you, I hope you find what I found, Jesus Christ is the answer. I haven’t seen him or touched him but he sees me and his words guide my actions. I can tell you beyond a shadow of doubt I’m a better man to myself and everyone around me and look at the world through new eyes. Praying you find faith.
Happy is the man who keeps on enduring trial, because on becoming approved, he will receive the crown of life, which Jehovah promised to those who continue loving him. When under trial, let no one say: "I am being tried by God." For with evil things God cannot be tried, nor does he himself try anyone. But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn sin, when it has been carried out, brings forth death.
At about an hour and 7 to 8 minutes in, the discussion is how people do bad things to one another and God allows it. I think there is something that is overlooked by so many, and I don't want to get into the whole {Why does a good God allow suffering:) debate, but have we ever stopped to think about how short life really is? We are here for a time and then our lives are eternal. This leads me to believe that God's view on life is WAY different than our views and thoughts on life. This thing we call life is a rehearsal for our real life.
I think it was an unintentional incorrect statement on Kyle's part, but for the benefit of anyone who may have taken it as intentional and correct, it was not correct to say that God (the Father) created Jesus (the Son). Jesus is one of the three in the Trinity that God is, and He as the Son is as fully God as is God the Father. In fact, Jesus, Himself, is the Creator. He is the part or Person of God that created all things. And by the way, not only did He walk the earth as a man, but He is still a man. God is a man.
Great interview , Mike ! I want to suggest taking a listen to both Bart Ehrman and C.S. Lewis’s work . They talk about God and religion from different perspectives . One a theist to an atheist , and the other vice versa . Both I find to be of high integrity . It is very interesting and insightful to try and understand their journeys . Listening to your channel , I find that you and me are of like mind on many subjects . Including this one … I myself am very open minded on the subject of religion and a creator . I found that these two gentlemen helped me tremendously on my journey . Didn’t come to any conclusion 😁 But I have a better understanding . Hope it may help you as well .
@@timerson41 The concept of God vs the storyfied agenda of religion? If that’s what you mean I think I agree but I look at it even simpler. I take human intent out of it entirely because, arguably, the only thing straight from God, without an intermediary human conveying the message via spoken/written word, are the 10 Commandments. They are supposed to have been chiseled into stone atop Mt. Sinai by God himself codifying Gods covenant with man. However, even that is still a story disseminated as a factual event through mans writings. Anything filtered through man is going to take on mans inherently imperfect qualities regardless of the positive or negative perception of the agenda of the man.
@@chiefro7 I mean more of God as in Life; creation and destruction. If you think of it like that everything is alive. Creation is mearly the act of rearrangement (destruction) and assembly.
@@timerson41 Agreed. I definitely believe in creation by a higher power. Far too much interconnection for life to be just a random series of coincidental happenstances.
To mike about judgment since none of us are good enough in moral law. When we accept Jesus we are covered and forgiven. We are judged on his works. That’s why Jesus commands us to go tell others about his love! The gospel is good news! Following Jesus helps us become better people. He transforms our Hearts and minds on the journey with him. Because he cares about relationship.
A man having a strong religious philosophy is an honest & good man. My bf is a Lutheran & I'm a Buddhist. He hunts & eats meat. I don't. Somehow it works for us! This is good. I hope you continue to seek and search for truth. Please keep Up the good work. I like this because I believe God used you as an instrument as a Seal to fight evil. How you do not have more subscribers I will never know but I thoroughly enjoy your podcast!
As Christian men we should be the hardest men on the planet for the glory of God. Too often it is the softest men in the buffet line on Sunday afternoon after the service.
Not according to the apostle Paul. We are all made in God's image. But we are not to serve God in the same way or have the same jobs or look the same way. Christians are all shapes and sizes ages and races. Men and women boys and girls. If you can work out and be in shape great. Man looks on the outward appearance but the Lord looks on the heart.
I don’t ever reply to things because my primary reason for commenting is the algorithm. That being said, I am referring to the idolatry of food. Not being able to control oneself in a buffet line after church is no different from not being able to keep oneself from pornography after church. I think Paul would agree with that sentiment. Sorry if my comment did not make that clear.

That, in my opinion, is where the Holy Spirit works in people. The rest is up to them. But, respectfully, I can understand your comment.
The story of the shepherd boy turned King David is a great start to endurance and redemption, Amen.
I am so glad you are back! Finally I have a great podcast to listen to. Beats the hell out of 99% of the crap out there.
To continue with the warrior Christian theme, John Lovell with Warrior Poet Society, does an excellent job without being in your face about the faith basis. A Mike Drop with John would be outstanding. Battle of the beards.
Fully agree.
💯
Yesssss, at once.

Finally he's back I can stop choking myself also it should be mandatory for every guest to get in a bite suit and get tickled up by a pooch
Mike , thank you so much for having this guest on your podcast. You are the man. Brother.
Happy you’re back mike
This is one of your best, and one of the best I have heard (in my opinion). Nothing sugarcoated. No worries about cancel-culture. No hiding from the truth. This is the example for others to follow. Thank you.
Respect to You Both. Thank You for Leading by Example.
Religion is a stumbling block between man and God, God wants a relationship with you.
👌🏿🔥👌🏿🔥👌🏿🔥 hit the nail on the head here! Couldn't have said it better myself!
Amen. Faith in Christ alone. Jesus Christ lives, rules, and saves.
There’s a great quote by some author and she said, “in life one must choose between boredom and suffering”.
I'll take suffering 😉
Good to see another Mike Drop broadcast!
The best Podcast I've heard in a very long time! God Bless these two!
Superb dialog. Well done Mike and Kyle.
Mike you’re seriously a man I look up to and I’ve learned so much from your podcast therefore I would challenge you in good order to watch 3 RUclips videos of Robert Morris’ series “how do I know” only 30 min each…so refreshing to hear a civilized conversation around Christianity without so much hate and real adoration between parties…best episode by far and hands down
Outstanding show. Thank you for having Kyle on. Strong godly men are under attack and in short supply. Sharing Kyle's message is absolutely needed.
Appreciate the views from both sides of the table tonight, furthermore Mr. Mike, you're not the only one that has asked those questions regarding God. I would say 99% of folks that believe, have asked those questions. If not out loud, then definitely to themselves.
Faith doesn’t include doubt
@@johnmacri7440 In a dream world. In the real world, faith includes doubt. Unless you're above doubt, or without doubt, than I call you either lucky, or full of shit.
@@thetruth7046 💯 with you in that one.
Welcome Back Mike!! We missed you the past couple months. You never disappoint!
We’ll know when we invest in the science to understand it.)
Although hearing Mike have these in depth conversations really makes you understand what they mean when former guys say the teams are made of all walks of life.
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE SHOW MIKE!!!! POWERFUL
I loved it 👍🏼👍🏼

Great point. Every problem is not a shooting problem. There are some problems where shooting will get you life in prison. Knowing how to use a lesser safer form of violence like jiu jitsu or wrestling can keep you safe and more importantly not in prison.
What a great podcast!!!
Eye opening. Great podcast. A 4th book can't wait.

On the topic of “if God exists then why is the world so messed up”…
The way it was explained to me is- you can’t have good without evil, and you can’t have love without hatred.
Very well said 🙌🏻
Fantastic show and awesome conversation. I thoroughly enjoyed the hearing the different perspectives. It made me think and want to learn more.
Great job thanks. Semper Fi
Awesome podcast, really enlightening
Excellent podcast. "I don’t care what you feel personally. I care what you do publicly." | Mike Drop moment.
Wow Mike listening to you speak about religion was like listening to my own thoughts. I agree with you 100%
Another episode fully worth the wait.
Good to see real men discussing issues, we need to take our nation back from globalists
Thank you for another one Mike
Missed the podcast, Mike. Glad it’s back and congrats on the new studio 👍🏻
Great to see you’re back shipmate
Hands down one of the best MikeDrop podcast ever , thanks Mike
Haven’t even watched it and I’m just glad you’re back brotha
“It” is a baby, “it” is a life.
I agree with you on most things but I’m shocked you took that stance. Like Tom Macdonald said in his rap about how stupid people are “bacteria on Mars is life but a heartbeat on earth isn’t?”

MIKE DROP 4 PRESIDENT
I love how you ask a question and then sit back and let your guests talk. A lot of Podcasters interrupt their guests or do most of the talking. Keep up the good work!
Great show guys! You are absolutely right concerning children and discipline!
Dude!!!! So happy for the upload!!!! Thanks @Ritland!
Awesome podcast God Bless both of you!
PS - I subscribed to Kyle’s channel!
I just went back on a Mike Drop watching binge…glad that it’s finally back
Best podcast you have produced so far
Love this!
41:10 it’s the parent’s fault. We live in the era of bulldozer parents. They believe their kid should face no adversity what so ever. It breeds entitlement and narcissism.
Relationship with Jesus is the point. God cares about relationship.

Another great podcast! Mike never disappoints!! Love the new studio!

Good podcast Mike! wicked.
Glad your back Pastor Ritland.
I want to suggest taking a listen to both
Bart Ehrman and C.S.
Including this one …
I myself am very open minded on the subject of religion and a creator . I found that these two gentlemen helped me tremendously on my journey . Didn’t come to any conclusion 😁
But I have a better understanding .
Hope it may help you as well .
He memorized Ravi Zacharius’ argument about good and evil. Smart man
The difference between God and religion is mans interpretation. I believe in God, not religion.
Concept (creation and destruction) vs Storyfied Agenda
This is what I was looking for. 👍🏻
Having Faith is hard work, following Christ is hard work. Working on yourself is hard work.
