I know I'm really late in seeing this for the first, but I'm so glad I found this pod cast ! It was so awesome to listen to. I love the humor, the common sense, and the true caring of people and country.
Great episode. I agree with the thought that people are starving for good leaders. I have no military background, but I listen to you guys over some of the other podcasts out there. It's because you guys have lived through some of the most insane heinous conditions known to man. You've seen the harsh reality of human nature unchecked and lived to tell the tale. I'll take people with real world, battle tested experience any day of the week and twice on Sundays. I want my son listening to people like you 100%.
Not a guy or a veteran but this grandma follows all 3 of you and I love listening to your common sense and interesting guests. (And yeah Andy is handsome! lol) You all think the way the people I grew up around thought and the world needs more of it.
The military was it was just a chapter of my life yet that's all I talk about, brand my companies with, and the only people I talk to or hang out with.
I live in Eugene Oregon and we are open for all homeless. It’s sick how much crime has gone up hear from stabbing/slashing , gun shots on a weekly base.
As far as I know the U of O police and EPD keep the crime and homeless as far away as they can. The big thing on campus is theft from bicycle to snatch and grabs out of cars.
I think Instructor Earl is pretty cool. "Get Tacticalized!" This was awesome to listen to, one of the first times I listened to every minute. I wish my young "Hipster" nephew to watch this.
Love the podcast Andy. Always enjoy listening to Evan and Mike. Tom Spooner roomed with me at Shot Show in 2016, we were introduced through a mutual friend. He is an amazing individual and I would gladly pay his way if you could ever get him on the podcast!
Love to see you guys podcast. I totally support the leadership message you guys experienced through the military.. thanks for output of trained leadership..I lookup too you guys .take care.
There is a unrelenting amount of eye contact in this podcast. I love it. People don't make eye contact now days and it's like I am speaking to a robot.
Fun stuff @19:04 to unpack. "The less you know about a subject the greater you can expound upon it because you're not inhibited by the facts". I can't remember who said it but it seems to hold value.
I enjoyed the discussion about the representation of actual life versus the reproduction of it in movies. I grew up watching war movies. I loved them. I’m sure that ‘war’ entertainment played a major role in driving me to join the army. I do realise that storytelling is important and we should have stories told about war and killing and horror, yet the discrepancy between story and reality rarely, if ever has produced an actual ‘true’ or ‘real’ experience. I served in Iraq and I can remember every single one of us in the barracks jumping for joy at going overseas. Every single one of us wanted to go, there was not a single soldier who wouldn’t have gone. Injured soldiers suddenly got up and walked. All of us had grown up watching war movies, documentaries and also the men we had met who had been there. Stories, parades, veteran ‘status’ captures a certain element of young men. It’s like we were desperate to join the army, to experience the stories we had grown up with. There is no universal military truth or experience but the difference between the stories we grew up with and the individual experiences once at the coalface does not exist in any shape or form. My deployment was ‘easy’, it was calm and we had zero combat. Yes, we saw some of the horrible effects, dead people including children and it was fearful a lot of the time. Yet, we did not kill, we did not get killed or maimed. It was frustrating and we were so fucking arrogant and basically felt hard done by! We realised that the majority of soldiers doing the killing and dying and maiming were special forces. We were babysitters and even now years later there is a vacuum in that all of the years of our training and our youthful enthusiasm and also as stupid as it is we felt cheated. Again this is one experience and other than one single vehicle explosion and one single mortar drop on our position (like three) we went home frustrated and unfulfilled as soldiers. I’m not the only member of our unit who do not attend veteran type events because from the stories, films, documentaries and the oral histories we grew up with we did nothing. Stories fill the need for the thousands upon thousands of men who did not ‘get some’. Childish yes, but every single one of my mates in Iraq feels the same. We got close but not close enough. When we watch and read about soldiers who did 15 tours of active service it is laughable because we soldiers as a unit, as a group had no idea that special forces in the western military mindset have due to the overwhelming use of intelligence, the amazing technology and supremacy of force has created a hollow space were traditional soldiers in battalions, filled with tough, willing young soldiers who are patriotic and focused to do their job without the opportunity to prove themselves as soldiers who have spent thousands of hours of training. It left the regular soldier feeling redundant.
Andy thank you for being a voice of humility and balanced perspective. It is amazing to me how humans intuitively believe that expertise and competence in one area translates to their expertise and competence in other fields where they have little to no expertise or experience . If you are looking for reliable information about any specific area you should look to people who have extensive education, experience and success in that field. The Halo Effect is real, just because you admire someone that doesnt make them a reliable source of information on every topic they may have an opinion on.
I love listening to Andy and Mike, and now Evan too, but this is first time really seeing Evan with them all 3 together. They click well together and love there podcasts.
I know I'm really late in seeing this for the first, but I'm so glad I found this pod cast ! It was so awesome to listen to. I love the humor, the common sense, and the true caring of people and country.
Evan and Mike - Andy drops an early Christmas gift.

How is the university of Oregon affected?
As far as I know the U of O police and EPD keep the crime and homeless as far away as they can. The big thing on campus is theft from bicycle to snatch and grabs out of cars.
Great show guys! We need Mike on jre. I'd love to hear that conversation.

That was freakin awesome. Would love to see Andy roll with Keanu Reeves.
Dick Meadows died in 1995 and was a huge inspiration to all SF .
I'd love to sit with these guys for an hour.
“Wow no shoes” from Evan sent me and they didn’t even acknowledge it lmao
Even and Mike hell yeah!!!
Evan gets so much hate for not being a hateful person. He’s a single issue voters worst nightmare 😂 Evan if you see this, you the man.
