Aliens (1986) Aliens is a 1986 science fiction action film written and directed by James Cameron. It is the sequel to the 1979 science fiction horror film Alien, and the second film in the Alien franchise. Set in the far future, it stars Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley, the sole survivor of an alien attack on her ship. When communications are lost with a human colony on the moon where her crew first saw the alien creatures, Ripley agrees to return to the site with a unit of Colonial Marines to investigate. Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser, Lance Henriksen and Carrie Henn are featured in supporting roles.
The absolute peak of physical special effects. No CGI here.
For a movie that is nearly 40 years old, it is still better than some of the more modern films with digital effects. Shows what a talented crew can do with good practical effects.
Can you believe, this is just James Cameron’s second film? First being Terminator?!?
Oh Grandpa, here's your jello cup
Hands down, one of the best sci-fi and action and sequel movies ever made. Period. Watching first-time reactions is so amazing.
I've always loved how the Queen immediately gets the hint when Ripley aims the flamethrower at the eggs and then signals to the drones to back off. Not only does it show some intelligence, but it shows the hierarchy in the species and gives them some depth that the first one didn't.
They were actually Warrior Xenos but yeah it showed how intelligent the Xenomorphs are and how they can Understand situations like that
Mother vs. Mother. They understood eachother.
And it was a calculated risk that worked. Brilliant, really. Otherwise she just goes down while taking a few out with her.
In the theater when she came out in the Power Loader and said, "Get away from her you bitch!", the theater ROARED.
I believe it.
that's the mark of a strong woman character: makes everyone cheer
I was there at 16 years old! It was an amazing experience. I still haven't forgotten how loud the theater was. I'm going on 55 now.
The Queen was a fantastically created design. This massive beast sitting on a throne made of organic material, breathing heavily and just watching...and the music! My god, it was perfect.
Poor Centane, falling in love with the Alien franchise after Aliens. There's nothing but pain ahead :(
Imagining her watching the Prometheus films is horrifying!
Agreed. Sadly I have to agree. Aliens 3 has some kudos but not much. After that well.....not much else needs to be said.
@@TheDissident77 I know Covenant isn't everyone's cup of tea but I loved it, and seeing it on the Thursday Night Preview in a special theater with my dad was a great cinematic experience. The musical score, sound, and atmosphere made these two tickets well spent.
@@TheRecklessMetalhead That's cool. That's the best thing about films, some can like something, others can hate it. Neither is more important.
She is definitely not going to like what happened to Ripley and Co. in Alien 3, lol.
The best sequel ever. Masterpiece ever.
Terminator 2 would like a word with you...
@@adamlone5548 The Godfather part II will join the conversation.
“Aliens” is moviemaking at its absolute finest. I love seeing these reactions!
“Watch your leg, watch your leg now, watch your leg”- the most hilarious reaction to Aliens- EVER 😂😂😂
Sigourney Weaver is just amazing !! She is the Queen
THE thing I like most about Ripley is that she is scarred shitless the whole time but she still takes care of business, that is what courage looks like
Asia trying to cover her face but can't look away always cracks me up!
😂 I love Asia’s finger mask.
She's a batwoman😂
What I love the most about Ripley is how she reacts exactly like a loving mother would. She put aside her own ptsd and fear to gear up and go into the hive alone, a literal Hell, to rescue her child.
Fun fact: there was supposed to be a scene with Ripley on earth earlier in the movie hearing about her daughter (whom she obviously missed out on 57 years of her life) and choosing not to meet her. It would have given more depth to the way she takes such a motherly attachment to Newt.
I once came across a full-size statue of a Xenomorph queen at Planet Hollywood. And at 14 feet, it's intimidating, believe me!
I saw a fancy dress one that looked enough to be a prop, would have been fun on halloween.
I saw this theaters in 86 at 11 years old. I am still scarred. What a masterpiece!
Fun fact: Sigourney Weaver had a point of not going on set until the puppeteers were out of sight and had the Queen in character when they were filming.
Ellen Ripley is the greatest heroine in modern film.
Sarah Conner might have something to say about that.
@@LyndonswingEowyn as well
calling Ripley mum made me tear up as well
If you look for the word EPIC in the dictionary, it will have the poster for Aliens as a result. lol
I absolutely LOVE how Hicks is in the dropship sedated the entire time, lol!
Like, "hey guys! What did I miss?"
feel sorry for the last girl who said she loved the same characters the third film kills off in the opening credits...
Sok, we all felt the same back in the day.
That’s why I hate the third film and still refuse to watch it again. That beginning really pisses me off, considering what the characters went through in “Aliens”. I just pretend that “Alien 3” doesn’t exist.
The giant airlock is terrifying. Most current spaceships are claustrophobic because they have to be launched in pieces small enough to be lifted by current rocket technology, but that airlock alone is bigger than half the International Space Station. And the floor drops into a hole that has no end, like falling off a skyscraper and never, ever, _ever_ hitting the ground! I am a space fanatic, but that pit with the bottomless drop at the bottom gives me nightmares.
Fun little nerdy tangent: Near-zero-g environments, like the asteroid belt and Saturn's rings, contain many, many multiple times the total mineral resources of Earth. Once we begin mining, refining, and manufacturing in space (likely with unmanned drones and facilities, at first), we will have unlocked enough resources to never have to extract basically anything from Earth, ever again, and we will never have to launch anything from Earth's gravity well and atmosphere (except people, and we probably won't be sending up many of them, either). In that setting, we can build space structures and vessels of nearly any size -- vast, grandiose constructions that could make the largest buildings on Earth look like blades of grass. Mass would still be a limitation for vessels that need to accelerate/decelerate, though. (i.e., ships built to travel between stars) Anyway...
Didnt expect to cry. Huge fan of the movies and never cried. Great reactions
1:44 the lady on the left is entranced and in the next shot she covers her eyes with open fingers and younsee her eyes darting around. 😂 😅😂
Ripley is THE best female action hero ever!
To be honest as right as you are, I do also believe Sarah Connor is at the top of that list there, both of them as bad ass as the other.
Can you believe, this is just James Cameron’s second film? First being Terminator?!?
This is a lot of fun watching various reactions at the same time and the different responses to the same scenes. Keep it going.
This is how you write a "strong female character"!
Aliens 1986 is a Masterpiece
I saw Aliens in the theater a few times when it came out. Just a awesome movie experience
And everyone felt the same way when we saw it in the theater all those years ago.
Great reactors are gifted; most of us would completely fail at it
Queen takes Bishop
There is no franchise.Alien and Aliens, that’s it,done and dusted.
"You're gonna need a weapon of some sort."
Ohhhhhhh, we can do better than that....
NO CGI !!!!!!!
This is such a great scene except for one thing she should not have used so much ammo or at least used some of it on the queen as it was important for them to get out quickly also that powerloader is easily one of the greatest alien weapons ever
She thought that whole tubing system was the Queen, so she was firing at the Queen. Second, if she fired directly at the face of the queen then the rest of the movie wouldn’t happen. It’s like saying “why didn’t they send in androids/Bishops into the hive?” It’s so that the movie can happen.
There you have a strong female character...way before it was cool!
Movies need to get back to using more practical effects and real sets they age way better than CGI this movie is decades old and still the effects are amazing!
I was like 6 years old when I watched this movie the first time ☠️😂
Watch 3 shes super bad ass
3 is rubbish. Killed off Newt and Hicks. Unacceptable after all this.
They are great films and the Predator one's
Maybe after such movies modern generation will understand what real strong female character is
Fun fact: there were 3 people in the queen alien suit making it move.
All this and they throw it away in the next two movies
Alien and Aliens... absolute masterworks of film... then fox and their movie by committee ruins it with Alien 3 and 4 and what the hell was Prometheus and Covenant? By the way, Alien Romulus, despite having a brilliant design/art-direction was a dumpster fire for a screenplay...
They should have had Bishop lasso newt with a piece of his intestines
It doesn't seem to be anything like that. Is Ripley protecting the child?
And Alien 3 crapped all over this beautiful movie.
Punch it Bishop!!!!!!!
There’s also “Punch it, Chewy!”
what is she saying at the 4:12 mark she needs what?
She said, “I knew you’d come.”
Fun fact: this movie doesn't exist. Jennifer Lawrence was the first female action star.
Yeah the 1st action I got. She got 20$ and is a only fans star now
that aint no fun fact
You must be fun at parties, obsessive POS.
😂😂😂
Hahaha if it wasn't for Jen there'd be no Ripley
This film was good enough to win best picture (obviously it didn’t)
And why do you have such a reaction to movies? I'm sorry for the question. I'm from Russia.?
My idea for an alien tv-series is as follows: It takes places just before the events in the first alien movie and happens on a planet near where the nostromo spaceship
is shipping ore.Weyland-Yutani is on the planet and have terraformed it for years, when they discovers a cave with lots of xenomorph eggs.
One of them get's infected and a xenomorph is born. It turns out to be a queen, and a lot of the Weyland-Yutani humans are infected and then
a war breaks out.All the humans on the planet are wiped out and only a few manage to escape in a spaceship. Then they nuke the planet from orbit.
Then Weyland-Yutani regrets the decision and a hunt for the xenomorph begins. They get a tip that there's a crashed spaceship on lv426 and sends
the robot Ash on the Nostromo spaceship. But they are informed that the mission has failed and that Nostromo has gone missing. Then Weyland-Yutani get's
a tip about an xenomorph on Fiorina161 and sends a team of researchers there. They finds a surviving prisoner that is impreagnated and a queen is born.
Weyland-Yutani then wants to use the xenomorphs on the planets where the engineers are located because they want the technology to seed planets with life.
They also want the elixir that provides humans with prolongued life. After they have managed to give birth to a flock of xenomorphs, they drops them
on an engineer planet and causes everyone of them to die. Then they get hold of the blue elixir that gives
prolongued life. But several ships with engineers that where away from their planet when Weyland-Yutani wiped the
population out, pursue them and manages to get the elixir back, but gets trapped on the planet where both parties
crash. Then a battle takes place and the crew from Weyland-Yutani gets the elixir that gives them prolongued life
for thousands of years, but they are now trapped on the planet, with no means to get anywhere. But then
they see a light aproaching, but is the spaceship friends or foes ?
An actual strong female character and we never even got her pronouns.
So according to Jennifer Lawrence she is the first female action lead...
Yeah, get over yourself.
I wish they showed the reactions of EVERYONR with the "Get away form her, you bitch" line. But we only saw the guy's reaction, which was lame.
I was so rooting for Siggie!
