The fact that Iowa's Offense has averaged 5 points per game and their defense has 4 points. They are awful.

Quarterback's throwing motion and trajectory of the ball are gonna keep causing interceptions on short and mid-field passes.
How cute, it also reminds me of the times when Iowa state would try to figure out a possible route to the National Championship game with a 3-9 record. No you shouldn’t have won by 20-30 points, I hate to break your heart….and both teams suck.

@@Yyyyyy5 uhhhhh ISU should have beat Iowa by 20 or more. Iow got lucky on 2 block punts, a weird fumble on the goal line, a miscommunication throw, and another int in the end zone. Iowa got the best chance to beat ISU, and yet they shat themselves on offense.
Amazing Iowa even scored 7 points considering what happened against South Dakota State.

It wasn’t pretty, but ISU still got the W! I’m a junior in college and it had been since I was in *JUNIOR HIGH* when ISU beat Iowa. Finally we got the job done. Good luck to Iowa on the rest of the season. I’ll be cheering for y’all.

When i was a freshman at ISU, we beat Iowa 15-13 without scoring a TD.

Why would any offensive recruit coming out of HS want to come to Iowa at this point? Our system obviously doesn’t work and looks like it would be absolutely soul crushing to play in

Because kirk Ferentz "likes his personality" or some shit. He always has a hard on for the seniors, doesn't matter what their actual skill level is. He doesn't want to admit he was wrong with Petras, so he's keeping him in for two reasons: 1) he's a senior, and 2) he's hoping that miraculously Petras will eventually have a decent game and he can say, "see? I told you he was good!"

As an Iowa fan and speaking for all Iowa fans. We’re all absolutely disgusted.
Nepotism with Brian is obvious and has already been covered. The situation with Petra’s obviously being a 3rd string QB at best has been covered.
All these situations were covered last year and here we are worse in every way offensively. Petras is statistically the worst quarterback we’ve ever had along with our offense as a whole.
If our defense hadn’t been in the top 5 nationally the past two years we would have been waiting at the woodshed after the game.
Something seriously has to change even if it means cleaning house. But we won’t, We’ll offer an extension for 10 years like we normally do.
Iowa could have hired Not Dakota States coach 4 years ago. This sh$t show has gone on far too long!
Meanwhile Cam Miller from Solon Iowa who is only a sophomore this year has already won his first National championship with North Dakota State. Now how did Ferentz miss him?
You the fan base will say who else are we going to hire while the team is mediocre year after year. Iowa's coach would have bet fired a long time ago at other places.

I’ve been waiting since elementary school and now I finally understand football way more and this year felt different coming into the game. I’m so happy it happened and in kinnick in the rain just like it rained last year in ames. Im now in college as a freshman and what a way to start out, go clones!

Petras is entertaining to watch. Any 2-5 yard pass from him looks like a 15 yard pass attempt since he overthrows it all the time.

Iowa defense is tough. Gritty. Pesky. But not elite. Or phenomenal. The big ten champ game last year proved that running the ball. Purdue proved that throwing the ball. Clifffod proved that last year. They are nice Top 15-20 defense. But not nearly as good some like to think.
The Iowa offense is completely screwed because the running game is laughable this year.
@@MINNESOTA_PTSD it’s easy to say that the defense isn’t elite, when in fact they are. You don’t get rated as high as they do without being elite. All the teams above them have a competent offense. The defense just can’t carry the load of the offense anymore with how much it has regressed. They were on the field soooo long today. Same with every single game you pointed to. The commonality is defense gave them a chance in every single game, but did the offense respond? No for some, and the defense continued to be on the field, got tired, and broke. The B1G title game was 14-3 at half I believe, by no means a blow out. The beginning of Penn State last year, they started out rough, every team is entitled to have a bad day. Elite defense can have teams that just have their number, Purdue is that for Iowa, ISU is that for okie state and Oklahoma. Heck, listen to Matt Campbell’s press conference today and he even says after today’s game, “make no mistake, that is an elite defense. (referring to Iowa)”
@@TenaciousStudent they are not as good as you think they are. Also special teams really help them on weekly basis. All they do is play this zone and force teams to be extremely patient.
If a team has a good or pretty decent QB, or WR.. they get exposed. Purdue has torched them repeatedly. I’m not saying they suck. I’m saying they aren’t Georgia or Clemson. That is elite. Iowa has a tough defense. Top 10-15.
Put an elite offense vs Iowa defense. Like USC. Iowa would give up 40+ and 500+ yards. Just like against Michigan. They can shut Down Uni, and weaker big ten schools. But real elites offenses would shred Iowa. But not Georgia. And not Clemson.
@@MINNESOTA_PTSD it’s funny you bring all that up. They are as good as I think they are. Elite doesn’t mean unbeatable, especially given when they are on the field all game. Did they get shredded by Michigan? Yeah, after they had been on the field the entire game because the offense kept having 3 and outs. I’m glad you brought up Georgia, guess what, they lost to Alabama last year. A qb torched them too. I’m really glad you brought up Clemson, ISU could have beat them last year, along with a number of other teams. That in part was due to a similar thing as iowa, their offense just wasn’t good, but a heck of a lot better than Iowa’s. You know what iowa was number 1 in last year? Takeaways. They were top 10 in a number of defensive statistical categories and that’s without having the insane recruits like a Georgia or Clemson have. They are doing it with players who most would consider average. They gave their team a chance to win games as long as they had a halfway functioning offense, they would have won many of them, but they don’t have an offense. Iowa’s offense was so dog water last year, I think it was 5th to last in FBS. This year’s is worse. What happens when you combine a top tier defense with a bottom of the barrel offense, you likely lose because somewhere you have to get points.

Something just doesn’t sit right with me knowing our kicker who shanked the game tying kick and our WR1 who tripped himself from scoring a TD both bet on their own games including the unders.

A very good defense can make any offense look bad...but a good defense wasn't required to make both of these offenses look horrible.
I don't mind low scoring games, actually prefer them if bodies are being carried off the field.
However, this game had it's tense moments but no excitement.
