Big 12 /ISU fan here. I enjoyed the CBS broadcast, Brad Nessler, & pxp Gary Danielson. Even if it wasn't an Iowa State game, another Big 12 game would have been infinitely better than any SEC game. I won't watch SEC or the B1G anymore, maybe unless they are playing a non P2 team. They and the higher ups are strangling college athletics.
Still feels really weird hearing Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson on the call for this game and not Georgia-Florida or the Iron Bowl. Gonna take some getting used to.
truth is they used to call Big 10 games in their early ESPN years. And both are from the Big 10 original geographical area. Gary is from Detroit and played college ball for Purdue, Brad is from Minnesota. But yes, the SEC on CBS was a big era. It will be weird for a while
Am pre-genX & pre-Xenniel: I remember cbs broadcasting b1g fb in 1985 - b4 cbs became the all-goober-all-the-time (🤨) network. a matter of not having a shallow, millenial-only perspective. there was a past sports history when now-revered, goober sec fb progrums had stretches of mid play (ala, uf & lsu) - and did not rule college sports. for long stretches between early 70s and 2013 (w some exceptions), both miss. schools were often near the bottom of the sec standings.
Nah, same old spineless coaching by kirk the dinosaur. Why even pay an offensive coordinator I'd you're not going to let him run the offense. Should have just spent that money on a new qb and had one of the waterboys call the plays. Trying to play 1980's football in 2024.
imo: iowa vs nebby, rutgers and Washington could all be close games. iowa, on-paper, should defeat sparty - but who knows? and then there's the ohioSt matchup also looming. ouch.
This makes the game look a bit different than it was. Iowa had multiple chances to put the game away and failed to do so. Credit to the Cyclones for making them pay and pulling out the win. But for most of the game it seemed like Iowa State had no business even being in the game.
Didn't show where Iowa went for 2 and didn't convert, when they went up 19 to 7? Odd. That ended up being possibly the most crucial decision in the game!
Fire Ferentz. Goes for two when they can't get it in twice in the red zone and as usual, plays to conserve the lead instead of building it. Sick of it.
this game proves what everyone knows...no matter what OC iowa hires nothings gonna change until kirks gone. 3 passes the entire second half an not one completion. so predictable
Being from Ames, just a couple streets down from Jack. I have to listen to the game via radio app from Montana. Could not have hoped for a better game. Then to be able to watch highlights, was absolutely awesome!
As an Iowa fan, Cade gave me so much hope after the second half of week 1. Now that we're back to normal terrible offense, I can say that I'm not surprised. As much as I like Kirk as a person, it's time to move on and play modern football.
eh. Iowa's defense is elite and ISU has had one of the top defenses in the Big 12 the last several years. Higgins and Noel are going to have big seasons.
Congrats to the Cyclones for an impressive rivalry win! Getting into field goal range and then drilling a long FG after missing one earlier was awesome. While I watched as a neutral fan, this is an example of what I love about college football.
Ditch chickens lose again to State. Welcome back Ferentz. Ready to retire yet? I’m excited to see Iowa’s program spiral into the toilet and end up at the sewage treatment plant below the Southern Hills Mall in Sioux City.
Just imagine if Iowa state wasn’t so injured. They’d be a legitimate threat to make the playoffs. They wouldn’t win, but they could sneak into a 12 spot.
Ferentz is so selfish and stubborn. He’s hanging on to set the record for most wins by a B10 coach, when he should have stepped down 4 years ago. He’s a dinosaur. It’s beyond time to move on to the future.
Settled for too many field goals, missed too many plays in the endzone... classic Ferentz game here at least it bit them this time. This play to not lose instead of playing to win has to stop at some point.
Is college defense just optional anymore? I mean Jesus, almost every college game the defenses look like a good high school team could lock em down........
@orig.bigTen fans: please kindly stfu, at least for '24, around how iowa plays "great d'." false: 4 bad plays by hawks on pass d' + a win for isu wr higgins on a 50-50 ball in the end zone. '24 iowa DBs? #29: blown assignment + the defensive right-side of iowa's pass d' were exploited at least 2x. frankly, maybe the qb play of b1gWest, in recent years, was no great shakes. the '24 b1g features noticeably elevated qb play: hawks could realistically lose 3-5 regular season games - bc iowa, at least in '24, is no longer facing wack, b1gWest QBs. iowa's "great d'" vs washington & nebby? 👀 - all the 🍿.
Credit the Iowa State football team for making this a grind out game
props, isu, 4 completing fwd passes[cough] - 😂
ISU missed a FG
Iowa missed a 2 point conversion
No matter how you look at this game it was an absolute classic
Nice to see Iowa State beat Iowa in their college football game!
Wow! A 54-yard field goal!
Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel are NFL WRs
The Hawkeyes got hit by a Cyclone 😂😂

You on crack...Iowa always sucks and you're team suxs... UGA would have blown your team to outer space 64 to 0 lol
Kirk said at halftime that based on his experience, the game was far from over... He was right!
Still feels really weird hearing Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson on the call for this game and not Georgia-Florida or the Iron Bowl. Gonna take some getting used to.

And again, I thought they were both very good. Just never had the desire to watch SEC or B1G games before. More so now.
@otaviofrn_adv exactly this. danielson played hs ball in s.e. michigan & then qb at purdue.

That missed 2 pt conversion was costly for Iowa. You live my the sword and you die by the sword
im a little sad they did not show it i missed most of this game watching ND lose

That missed field goal by isu was costly. Wouldn’t have mattered either way then ;)
imo: iowa vs nebby, rutgers and Washington could all be close games. iowa, on-paper, should defeat sparty - but who knows? and then there's the ohioSt matchup also looming. ouch.
It’s a CYCLONE state!
A ton of upsets through the first 2 weeks. I don't ever remember it being this crazy lol. Wish Michigan would have kept McNamara lol
This makes the game look a bit different than it was. Iowa had multiple chances to put the game away and failed to do so. Credit to the Cyclones for making them pay and pulling out the win. But for most of the game it seemed like Iowa State had no business even being in the game.
A game of two halfs
Remember that ISU had plenty of mistakes too...
Go Clones!!
9:20 And he got it!!
White Lisa Walker William Robinson Amy

So Iowa's QB can't throw to end zone from 50 yard line? I thought he was a big name transferred from Michigan.
Welcome to the year 2024, where lots of kickers can kick field goals of 50+ yards now.
Martinez Betty Moore Carol Perez Cynthia

I preferred the SEC on CBS 😢
How you have a 9 min highlight video and miss half the key plays smh
Fire Ferentz. Goes for two when they can't get it in twice in the red zone and as usual, plays to conserve the lead instead of building it. Sick of it.

Iowa State's kicker is a freshman!?
Homegrown kid from Iowa as well. Grew up on the Hawkeye side of the state...
and Dummy Iowa coach went for 2 way too early.
my dynasty team on cfb25 😂 mind you im from bama. good w
Both of these teams are offensively challenged
eh. Iowa's defense is elite and ISU has had one of the top defenses in the Big 12 the last several years. Higgins and Noel are going to have big seasons.

Holy shit and he nailed it easy he could probably hit from 60. That’s a true freshman holy shit he’s gonna be the #1 pick in 2 or 3 years
Saturday was a great day for underdog teams, so many ranked teams got stuffed.
Iowa State's defense was really impressive considering they have 4 injured linebackers. Incredible effort.
Iowa coaching staff lost this game. So terrible
Iowa State only lead for six seconds, but it was the most important six seconds🤣🤣🤣 go state
Ditch chickens lose again to State. Welcome back Ferentz. Ready to retire yet? I’m excited to see Iowa’s program spiral into the toilet and end up at the sewage treatment plant below the Southern Hills Mall in Sioux City.

I mean, the Big 12's wide open...
Got greedy going got that 2 point conversion and it cost them.

Good to see Iowas offense is in mid-season form! Especially the QB play man making huge improvements in that department!!
McNamara still sucks! I think Kirk should be suspended again for having this kid come to Iowa.
And that’s the kid that got him suspended in the first place 😂
A good day in college football when Iowa loses.
Someone's upset
Nice that ISU is winning games before October for once ☝️💯🤣
Doesn’t matter how you start lol.
Good to see Iowas offense is in mid-season form!
IS there not a full game replay anywhere? Not seeing it on CBS or Paramount...
Settled for too many field goals, missed too many plays in the endzone... classic Ferentz game here at least it bit them this time. This play to not lose instead of playing to win has to stop at some point.
Same old Kirk same thing hopefully this is last year it's time for new coach
Is college defense just optional anymore? I mean Jesus, almost every college game the defenses look like a good high school team could lock em down........
Gets harder every year to be a hawkeye fan. New offensive coordinator, same shitty plays. Keep playing that "Iowa style football" boys.
Lol at 8:57 the clown coach thinks he's so tough.
Pathetic play call on first down!
Brown Paul Lee Sandra Miller Kenneth
Shouldn't this be considered a neutral game since both teams play in Iowa😭🤣
Nothing neutral about going into your rival schools stadium as a fan or player lmao
No, it’s majority Iowa fans, just as next year it will be majority Iowa State fans in Ames. It is a home and home series for a reason
SIC 'EM CYCLONES
