Little fun fact fyi: you can see Floor going full windmill with all the band members except Simone (Epica singer) just because the latter was pregnant at the time and she can't headbang too much in order to keep her baby safe.❤️👶❤️

Have you done and Beste Zangers? It's a Dutch TV show Floor went on in 2019.. While Floor and Nightwish are known around the world for many years, Metal is not as popular where she is from in The Netherlands, so she is relatively unknown.. In this TV show "Beste Zangers" they get 7 Dutch singers from different genera styles, Opera, Folk etc.. Each week one is spotlighted as "on the couch". The other six research their life, career, etc. find a perform a song for them.. The song usually has some sort of personal significance to the performer on the couch. You really get to see Floor's brilliance and versatility as she blows away the wide variety of songs she performs..

Also to recommend is the duet with Anneke van Giersbergen and Sharon den Adel. They are also from the Netherlands. Anneke was the reason that Floor is singing synfonic metal. The song called Somewhere. Also you have to try Areyon with Floor and Anneke the song named the Valley of Queens.

They don't usually tour with the full orchestra and choir, this was a special show celebrating their 10 years.
This band has similarities with Nightwish, but their sound is different, it's generally more heavy, uses more orchestra (specially violins) and the guy who yells "Floor Jansen" in the end does harsh vocals in some of the songs. He also worked with Floor in a previous band, After Forever.

Just a brief comment on the lyrics. They were written by Simone, the singer. The story is about a suicide bomber who dies on his mission and finds himself in the afterlife, not in Heaven as he always believed, but in Hell. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on your viewpoint, he is quite happy there.

Great reaction. Are you slowly turning into a metalhead? Floor and Simone did another awesome performance together at this show. A Christian Hymn from the 13th century (lyrics) with music composed in the 18th century and the whole venue full of metalheads, fell silent to "Stabat Mater Dolorosa". So beautiful.

Floor was in a band years ago with called After forever with Mark, one of the guitarists of Epica till Mark left the band in 2002. Simone the singer of Epica was Marks girlfriend back then(they have not been together for years). They symphonic metal community is very tight knit community.
true, and not only the symphonic metal bands are involved. Floors husband Hannes van Dahl (drummer of Sabaton) and Floor have a 3yr. old daughter (Freja). Simone is in a long term partnernship with Oliver Palotai the keyboard player of Kamelot with whom she has a 6yr. (or is he 9yrs. already? don't know exactly) old son. I don't remember that Tia has done a reaction to Sabaton or Kamelot yet.

Another suggestion I have is for you to look into "Delain." They are a Dutch symphonic metal band with Charlotte Wessels as their front woman. One of my favorites is the song "Stardust," but there is a great live performance of Charlotte with Marco (from Nightwish) at Masters of Rock where they sing "The Gathering." I have a feeling you'll like the lyrics as well!

The key is their powerful voices are supported by by great instrumentation and a well written song. A pop singers may have a good voice, but with an electronic backbeat and heavy production to the sound.

This is a truly epic performance, and your reaction definitely reflects most people's feelings when listening to what these two Valkyrie Bards conjure from within. It simply is out of this world. Interestingly, Floor herself once said that she wasn't into metal initially, because it was just noise. I agree, I can't handle the loud, screaming, guttural stuff either, but symphonic metal has an ethereal, magic quality to it, a story wrapped in an aura of angelic power that has to be heard to be cherished. It is the tales told that makes this kind of music so remarkable.

I get if you don't like the heaviness because I was also very much like that. It is definitely an acquired taste. I started with some pretty light stuff and it just got heavier over time. Some stuff I would suggest is:
• Ignea - Alga
• Vintersea - Illuminated
• Unleash the Archers - Awakening
• Ad Infinitum - Marching on Versailles
• Imminence - Infectious
Those should be only slightly heavier than Epica

I should have clarified, I don't like the excessive screaming/growling kind that makes it virtually impossible to understand the lyrics. So, I suppose I was more referring to Death Metal, but not Metal as a whole, that would be wrong. I do know "Unleash the Archers," but I'll check the others out, thanks for those.
@@moriiyanis3526 Yeah, I get what you mean. With screaming you kinda start to understand what they are saying after awhile. I can pretty much understand most vocalist that I encounter(except for when it gets really really really heavy). Enjoy those those bands that I have mentioned!

I don’t listen to symphonic metal that much but Epic is pretty cool but usually too light. I have only encountered one other band that has a full on orchestra in one of their songs is Ignea and the song is “Alga”. There is a band that has a choir in one of there songs which is Heilung - Alfadhirhaiti. There are some bands that have a prerecorded orchestra like Ihsahn - Stridig. And there are plenty of bands that have a prerecorded choir like Shadow of Intent - The Heretic Prevails.
Yes! I definitely wouldn’t say it was heavy but they did throw in that head banging break 🙌🏼😊 & So interesting! I feel like it’s pretty rare for modern bands to include a choir!

This is a song of her ReVamp period, it never gets reacted to. Maybe better that way, but at least have a look at it. I think it is important when you want to know Floor a little better. One of the reasons Floor was able to replace Anette during the North American tour of Nightwish (01-10-2012) , was because her own band (ReVamp) was on a temporarily hiatus because she was suffering from a burnout. When she received the call from Nightwish (if she was available and wanted to replace Anette for the remainder of their world tour) she had just healed from that. FYI, European Metal Bands (plus 1 American, Kamelot), especially the female vocalists, are usually support each other and collaborate well. The guitarist, rough vocalist and founder of Epica, Mark Jansen (no family relation to Floor) and Floor Jansen used to be in After Forever, so they musically easier to collaborate. Floor is a Soprano and Simone Simmons is Mezzo Soprano.

@@TiaHope It's a complicated spiderweb of friendships and kinship, there is a documentary film called "Soaring High and Brutal Low" (2015) that told stories of 5-6 female metal vocalists lifestyle (surprisingly strong and clean feministic vibes) and struggles, including Floor Jansen, Doro Pesch, Anneke, Charlotte Wessel, Simone Simmons, etc. I recommend you watch it.

Are you open to other styles, or just metal? If you are, I have two suggestions. Both are all-female bands from Japan. The first are called Band-Maid, and they play hard rock. This is good stuff, not like the big hair and spandex rock from the 80s, and they can really play.
