This is a great performance, but my favorite thing about it is the way the two ladies interact on stage. There's so much respect and affection here (like that head bump at 4:55), where the normal expectation is that they would be competitive with each other. It's so nice when you learn that the artists whose music you love are also nice people.
That's why among her peers, no one considers her a Diva and she is as far as I can tell, well liked by most of them. She puts the performance before herself and doesn't make it all about her. It's also why most of the other vocalists are willing to perform duets with her.
I like when people do this one after they’ve already heard Epica on their own without Floor first. Most people look at this one first and stare at Floor and don’t often look beyond her. I’m glad you’re looking at everything and appreciating everything!
That friendship though! The chemistry between those two women on the stage amplifies the effectiveness of this performance so much imo. I love Simone and she is amazing but Floor has this special talent of matching other people's registers/tonality of their voices!
I am charmed by the fact that the female choir, who likely spend most of their peformance time doing classical music and church music, are having an obviously difficult time not launching into all-out headbanging as the song progresses.

They usually comment on this song after three Nightwish songs and they focus on what they are familiar with, I suppose. I would probably just add to Chase´s assesment of their individual timbres that Simone is a mezzo-soprano while Floor is a soprano, which is something that allows Floor to reach higher notes with much more ease. But I really like Simone´s timbre when she goes lower with her voice. I think she has not used it yet in Chase´s reactions.

Hi Chase, I am not aware of any official music education of Simone, but she started her music education of with flute, stopped with that at age 12, followed by jazz and pop lessons, and then hearing Nightwish's Oceanborn she went into classical. The latter was at age 15 :). She is considered to be a mezzo-soprano, while Floor is considered to be a full soprano. To me it looks and sounds like singing is easier for Floor than for Simone, but I may be completely wrong on that, as a total non-expert. Simone's singing is great, however. Interesting tidbit is that both originate from the south of the Netherlands (as do I incidentally, but I can't sing at all :)). And they are very good friends. Thank you for your, as usual, marvelous, insightful and educational reaction! Warm regards, Wim

Love everything you mentioned about how different their voices are! It’s something I see a lot in symphonic metal-people confusing tone and technique. Simone and Floor are classically trained so of course they approach a lot of things the same way and produce similar sounds, but their tones are quite different-Floor’s voice is a bit more warm and she approaches from a lower place in her chest, while Simone’s voice is very bright and more airy. I see the same thing happen with Tarja a lot, where people comment that she can only sing operatic, and it’s like, no, she just has a very naturally dark and warm tone. Also love what you mentioned about Simone’s theatrical diction bc it’s one of my favorite things about listening to her-it’s always very easy to understand what she’s saying and her voic really cuts above the instrumental beautifully. What an amazing performance!! I love this song and having the duet with Floor is just a cherry on top. Collabs like this are my favorite thing in symphonic metal, just getting to see all the camaraderie and joy that exists between the different bands.

Yet, when this show happened i was completely blown away.
Not only they managed to play live with a frigging orchestra and record it flawlessly (engineers ftw); they had Floor the metal godess singing along. I hope you can get hands on the Retrospect DVD some day. It's an impressive masterpiece.
Once this pandemic is over, i'm all in for a series of reactions of "Tank & Chase". It even has a ring to it, right? Like an 80's series.
I love your reactions! you're the best.
It's like you can understand the richness and depth of every song which I haven't seen anyone do; you really pay attention and analyze every bit of it.
I've heard this song a million of times and never understood the whole thing until I found your reaction.
Thank you! it's also very fun to see the faces you do while you hear, I can totally relate haha
Thank you for your kind words, Yasmin. 🙏🙏🙏
@@ChaseCarneson Thank you for sharing your reactions!
5:57 - 6:18 By far my favorite part of the reaction. Your face and hand gestures were PRICELESS!
Thank you Chase for reacting to this masterpiece!
Greetings from Romania!😊
One of the best 'breakdown' reactions to Sancta Terra - Thanks!! Cheers from an Ancient Medic.
Thank you for this! 🙏🙏🙏
I loved that you mentioned Simone's enunciation
I have the whole DVD they sold of this concert, I wish I could share it because there's a lot of good stuff in this show. Maybe one day they'll upload more of it
I cant believe i watched most of your 7 month journey in 4 5 days man 10 hours a day probably lol BEST REACTION CHANNEL EVER! You know what would be cool? TOOL REACTION! Sober(live) is a good starting point :)
Wow, thanks! I appreciate you
Love everything you mentioned about how different their voices are!
Chase, you are the quintessential SYMPHONIC METAL reactor!!! 🎻🎸🎻🎸 NO one does it better, dude!!!!
Best wishes from Namibia 🤟🏻🇳🇦🤟🏻
Aaaah thank you so much 🇳🇦
Love watching you when it's this good 😆 you're like a kid at Christmas
Cannot help myself.
Damn I've heard this version so many times, It's the first time I hear the horns after you mention it.
Very, very nice review again Chase! Much respect!
Been waiting for this one for a while.
Love your reaction to this Chase, morphing into a Rebecca or Elizabeth with those expressions.
