Filmed in the woods across the road from Silverstone as a promo for Charringtons Oils - then title sponsors of the RAC Historic Rally... a forerunner of the now Roger Albert clark Rally, I guess. Was a great day out filming.
Great stuff, from a great era for the sport in the UK. Now, not only don't we have a WRC qualifier, the event doesn't even run - how has that happened?
In the video for the 1992 British championship there was a little feature on it one rally. I think it was the Scottish Rally because there was a short interview with all 3 McRaes - Jimmy McRae mentioned he didn’t have to contend with buttons on the steering wheel. I’ve got a feeling it was mentioned again on the Manx
@@d-d-i Sort of exactly what I was wondering , I remember when the f2 fwd escorts had Sequential in the late 90s it was like a revolution but where did this tech go was it banned for a few years or something 🤔👌🤙
Thanks from the USA. Cool to see three legends (and legendary cars) mix it up. Funny now to see a Group A Legacy being referred to as high-tech. In relation to the Cortina, I suppose!
Does anyone know why Prodrive didn't bring in the paddle shift gearbox until 1999, given they had this system in 1992? Maybe it was a reliability thing?
Wait what , I didn't know the Legacy had a semi Auto Gearbox 😳 the first Impeza didn't have it though from what I remember, 🤙was it banned for a year maybe ?
Don't think it was banned. Think it needed testing - at every possible opportunity. It was definitely used on at least one national (maybe Scottish championship) event in the Legacy, I'm sure. But this filming day would have been another good opportunity to run with it outside of competition.
Love that last remark from Roger, "All the prizes are at the finish"
Albert, Colin, Lotus Cortina. All boxes ticked. Wonderful 🥰
I know!!
RIP to two great Legends of Rallying, Colin McRae and Roger Clark
So weird watching the gearstick move on its own...😆.
Legends, all three of them!
All the prizes are at the finish *wink-wink. Finish the ralley Colin
The best advice of all!

What a joy to watch
The legend of Roger Clark just need to see him in his Mark 2 Escort with Cossack sponsorship.
LAR 800P 🙂
OMG what a great material!!
I can vaguely remeber watcing this when it aired. Cheers for the upload ;)
Great clip
Super upload thanks!

Most welcome 😊
Thanks for the upload. Wonderful to see and really interesting to see them mix n match.
Glad you enjoyed it
Automatic gearbox, now that's something haven't seen before in these old clips.

Yeah, I thought I was seeing things when I saw the shifter moving without him touching it. LOL
@@jack4688 So they had sort of sequential system already in the early 90's ? Yet, Subaru's had manual stick shifting still in 1999.

@@PaceWorks Well it wasn't banned, since Mitsubishi had it already in 1995 iirc, and WRC Escort got it in 1997. Subaru was very late to the party.
Thanks from the USA.

great video
What the hell a button shifter? Never seen that before especially on that car

I wonder what forest that was filmed...

@@VHSRallies Thank you ye I never remember this system being used but I was only born in 92 🤣🤙👌💯
Maybe just too complicated for a mass-produced road car...
You got the one where RC did a rally with some reporter? Great stuff as always.
In at the deep end, with Chris Searle? Yup. ruclips.net/video/4kdW4DRWPBw/видео.html
@@VHSRallies That's the one. Cheers
