Salamat Ate Gi. My wife surprised me the other day that she wants to retire in PH maybe spending 6 months there and 6 months in UK. I thought we will be staying full time in the UK for our retirement but I have since been thinking about what she said. We plan on early retirement in our early 60s. By the time we retire we would have been living overseas for over 40 years. Glad to have found your channel to help us on this journey.
I'm glad to hear its helpful. It's a huge adjustment to return and live in the Philippines after many years abroad. My goal is to ease our return through preparation. Salamat po!
It was a fulfilling retirement for us. My husband and I are now connected in our parish where we moved. We are doing volunteer works such as being lectors, members of a choir. Also my husband teaches bible study, cathechism and help couples to complete their confirmation class. So fulfilling. We go to Pinas and stay about 3 to four months since now we have a new house somewhere in Rizal. In other words, in any phase of life, it is how you make it. 🙏💗
AWESOME video. My wife and I have been retired for 17 years and we have enjoyed every minute of it! We are in our mid-50s now. I achieved financial independence and retired early(FIRE)with just one income(mine) through hard work(6-7 days a week X 20 yrs). We made sacrifices, saved, invested and planned our retirement. I did not want to become homeless or become a Wal-Mart greeter in my 60s or 70s. I refused to become a victim and just focused on my goal of FIRE. RETIRED with fat FIRE and high net worth. We have been debt-free for over 20 years and life is good. Freedom to do anything we want, any time we want is great. Retiring in Southern California is convenient and comfortable for us. We just travel to nice destinations in the world when we feel a bit adventurous. We also enjoy our home so we stay home most of the time. We do not work at all in retirement, our money works for us as we are too young to collect Social Security. Those who get bored in retirement are boring people to begin with. Gotta have hobbies, not vices. 😊

Congratulations on planning for your retirement! The journey for me isn’t linear because I learnt that I am both on stage 1 and 3 at the moment. Stage 2 was rough but glad that I am able to slowly embrace my new slow paced life now. I am 38 and my husband is 43 (no kids) and we reached FIRE last year so we resigned from our jobs recently. This year, my husband and I will be experimenting with spending six months in our PH vacation home in the province as I spend quality time with my still strong 85 year old lola who raised me and six months in our home here in EU where we have been naturalised already.
Wow! I'm so impressed. You are FIRE'd (no oun intended), and retired so young. I wish I had known FIRE earlier in my life. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Enjoy your long retirement. Thank you for watching.
I started following your channel a few months ago. I too am also nearing my retirement stage. I have planned out and am very near to my financial goals for retirement. I started investing in stocks when I turned 18. I was blessed by my wonderful parents who guided me through the intricacies of financial knowledge. With that in mind, my roots are also in the Philippines although most of my family were in the military I never really got a chance to see my homeland. My father was stationed in various areas of Europe I've had more exposure in the European continent than anywhere else. Fast forward to today settling down in Carmel, being so in love with the ocean I've always yearned to one day go back home and experience what I've been missing all this time. Thanks to these stages, I believe that I will be able to cover these insights you bestowd on this video. I will feel like an adventurer once I settle down over there. What a wonderful stage that will be. Keep up these videos take care and God Bless you Ate Gi.

My definition of retirement is when your money is working for you, as opposed to you working for money. It’s the opportunity to pursue your passions ( if your job was not your passion), learn new things, but most importantly , have the time to devote on physical fitness and mental development on a daily basis.
@@chemistIT I totally agree! Financial freedom is freedom from the rat race. Whether people love their job or not, there will be a point in their life that the body will say NO to work even if their mind says YES . Having the option to quit working due to financial freedom is liberating. No more meetings, no more stress, no more deadlines, no more commutes, and the best of all, no need to ask permission to go on vacation!

I love your channel so much, I could relate 100%, from raising our only child to where I am right. I’m retiring next month after 24 years from a prestigious hospital in Orange Co. Going back home hopefully early next year, I just have to make sure that my daughter is stable enough to live on her own, making sure my daughter will not be homeless in NYC, her happy place. One good way to deal with retirement is be able to commit one’s self in enriching one’s faith “spiritually.” Volunteerism in a nearby church or faith that we have. And from it, move on. That's true. I actually feel the same way. I often ask my retired friends if they had qualms about retiring because of the stop of regular work income. But they always remind me that we can always make more money, but we can not make more time. We never know how many "good years" we have after retirement. So the faster we take it, the better. As for the money, they said that they adjusted to the money they have saved. And those who saved really well said, they actually have more money than what they need. But all that is relative. Depends on how we live, if we have fewer needs.

In Pinas, make sure you have a very good health insurance because if ever you get into an accident or be seriously sick, you'll go bankrupt with the cost of medical bills. Also, hope not to get into a legal litigation with anyone, if you do it will go on and on for a long time and the legal bills will make you poor in no time, not to mention the frustration and depression you'll experience in dealing with the system.
This is very enlightening. Thank you! Would you please consider touching on taxation policy when retiring in the Philippines after working and living in the US? Are Filipinos double taxed for retirement income from IRA accounts in the US?
Retirement is sacrifice and joyful. Why sacrifice. If you are the boss at work and you are enjoying that position now you have to give it up. Why enjoyable? no more headaches, unless you don't have funds to retire. So for those people who wants to retire in the USA or other countries make sure you have to plan it very seriously. Specially your funds. That is the most important. Are you going to depend on social security. How much is your social security when you retire? Do you have 401k or IRA or savings like CD or Bonds. Did you invest in stocks, silver or Gold. Or you had a good time while you are young and did not think of Retirement. Some of us are Bless. I consider my self to that. But i been through alot in life. But God Almighty still Bless me and my wife with good life. So for those who are thinking to retire make sure you have the funds to do so. And you have medical insurance. Specially if you are planning to retire in the Philippines. That is your first agenda before good time or vacation 😊. God Bless to all who are getting close to Retirement.❤🎉😊
Maganda po yung mga video nyo pero just looking at it I know it involves a lot of editing. Try nyo rin po i minimize yung sobrang dami ng video para di kayo mahirapan mag stitch ng mga video nyo. Ako, I don't believe sa absolute stages of retirement. It's never a one size fits all application. But what I will say that will always benefit everyone is to prepare for your retirement income as early as your mid 30's (pension plans). Purchase a house no later than your 40th birthday. Be healthy. Make sure to purchase health insurance for retirement. Get a life insurance or at least set aside some money or a plan for your parting. When you have all of those 5 items, you are set for retirement.
Also to consider other forms of long term investments other than real state. It’s very important to teach ourselves wealth management, know all our investment options and understand our risk tolerance.
@@paengguin9381 ... Of course, but we all know young people in their 20's never think of retirement even if you tell them. I've been there, hahahahaha.
@chemistIT ... Yes, you can add 50 more things on the list for a better retirement. But I just wanted to touch on the must-have minimum for a decent retirement. Retirement for millionaires is a whole different list.
@@Gemini530 Mutual funds, employee contributions to 401k, and employee stock purchase plan are some options of those who work in publicly traded companies here in US.
It's good to retire in the Philippines. However, for those who are from the U.S., just keep in mind that if you're going to rely on Medicare for your health needs, it is not extended in the Philippines. There are options to just get a private health insurance coverage but may cost a little. Other than that, if you have a place to retire then you are set. Enjoy!

Your stages of retirement is like 5 stages of grief. At this point, you are over thinking and over planning your retirement. It is good that you have identified the retirement stages, but don’t let those stages define your retirement. It is just a suggestion. If you are in great shape physically and financially, there should be no worries. Stop stressing yourself.
I'm not stressing. I'm just preparing po, especially financially. Healthwise, we can never be too sure. I've seen people in great shape, in good physical condition, but gets a stroke or a heart attack all of sudden, then becomes disabled.
@@official_ate_gi_channel one of the main key item in retirement is financial security. SSS, stocks and bonds, IRA and pensions are good sources of continuous stream of income in retirement. A lot of people bring a finite source of income in retirement in the Philippines. This does not last. In my view, 4k$ in continuous monthly income flow is more than enough to enjoy your retirement and finance your medical bills.
You only have to have a serious hobby like fishing, hiking or maybe golf, arts etc in order to retire..otherwise, keep on working. For me, I would retire now if I could because I know I have hobbies and interests that will keep me busy. I have family to spend time with. We'll, this is assuming you are financially able for retirement of course.

@@JunRoss-pp3mv sounds like a great retirement. Home is truly where the family is.
I totally agree with you.

She does not want to come back to OC after college.
I’m 60+ I live in Australia but I don’t want to go back to the Philippines as the problems of the systems in the Philippines is really overwhelming. And besides my grandchildren were born and lives here my only child doesn’t want to go back to the Pinas. We prefer the lifestyle here. Good luck to both of you and God bless.

@chemistIT ... Yes, you can add 50 more things on the list for a better retirement. But I just wanted to touch on the must-have minimum for a decent retirement. Retirement for millionaires is a whole different list.

I wonder Ate Gi if most of the Filipino retired early or past 65? Is the basis for the retirement age or financial matters?
