I actually returned my 7950x and bought the 7600x instead. People said I was mad but with the extra money I got a new m.2 drive,PSU, and new keyboard & mouse as well as a new cooler. It was just about getting on the new Zen4 architecture. And with the 3D versions on the way early next year i would have most likely sold the 7950x anyways and at much less value. £780 for 5 months of use felt pointless to me.
I just purchased a 7600x and I'm very happy with it. It was a HUGE upgrade from my 3770K system. The 7600x will be extremely fast for many years until AM5 is replaced, you don't notice the difference in gaming performance on AM5 today. Save your cash and buy the last great chip on the AM5 platform in a few years. ie. 5800x3D on AM4.

X4 Foundations will not benefit from any more than 2 cores. Ryzen 5 7600 will simply run the game just as well as Ryzen 9 7950X, especially when you overclock the 7600 to have more than 5.3GHz single-core. I was also surprised how well it runs on my Ryzen 7 6800H on battery power with 2.5 hour battery life on the laptop (at 15W TDP). To think that I can have a playable X4 Foundations experience on battery power already just shows how good Ryzen 6000 APUs are.
All modern high-end GPUs are limited in Flight Simulator by the constant stuttering caused by the program pinging Microsoft servers and streaming in large chunks of data. You'll get stuttering no matter how good your hardware is.
Save yourself some money, and get the Ryzen 5. The performance will be more than acceptable, at least until games start demanding more cores and threads than the Ryzen 5 can provide.
For the people who have no idea... The higher the resolution, the less relevant is the CPU.. In this showcase, it was shown at 1080p, so on the lower resolution where CPU gets slightly involved more. But everything higher above 1080p, there is practically no difference between any of these CPU's. And instead of spending 100,200,300 bucks extra on a CPU, you should invest that money in a better GPU and get a LOT more value back. 7600x is the way to go. Every pc tech youtuber will tell you the same. Its literally the best value you can have.

There is not much difference in 7700x 7900x and 7950x because games only use 2 to 4 cores above that it doesn’t matter the L2 cache is also nearly same but there is a difference in the cache in r5 and r7 even the Ryzen 7 5800x3d outperforms the R9 because it have much more l2 cache.Also the higher end cpus aren’t meant for gaming if I are a streamer and a gamer the 7700x is enough and if u want some more flexibility in rendering and video editing then you may buy 7900x 7950x is just way to over kill plus takes a lot of power.

I am about to buy new AM5 motherboard AMD cpu to replace my 6 year old 7700k intel, Games like red dead 2 and cyberpunk cant run at 60 fps cause of my processor bottlenech with a 3070ti. That basically tells you that high resolutions are still only dependent on the graphics card. Im using a 3700X with a 3080 in 4k and it runs perfectly fine. Wont need to upgrade CPU for at least another 2 generations.
At higher resolutions CPU makes less of a difference. Think of it as the CPU feeds X amount of frames to the GPU. If the GPU can only handle a certain amount of frames a better cpu wont make a difference. So you'll only notice diffrences in performance for these cpus at lower resolution.
8 core seems to be the new norm in this day and age with just about every new game being able to take advantage of the higher core count as seen with the higher frame rates in comparison to the 6 core design. But yea 6 cores will get you by, for now anyway. But as more and more new and more core demanding games arise and older games fade, octa core will eventually become a necessity decent frame rates

There won’t be much of a difference between them, go ahead and save the money. You can buy a better ssd or ram with it. The difference between them is just not worth 100$. But if u use apps like blender and such 7700x will be a better choice(about 33%).
Benchmarks like this uses very powerful gpus to eliminate bottleneck from the gpu (so the cpu is the weakest point here, to see how much it can push) if your gpu is slower you wouldn't have those numbers

Yeah it definitely struggled there compared to the other chips. Hopefully that's something that will be better optimized in the future through patches and BIOS updates.

because you see the performance of the CPUs at 1080p where as at 4K you're GPU Bound so the GPU holds the CPU back. this is the best way to see the improvements on CPU's
A processor is tested for its capabilities at 720p, 1080p and low graphics settings, otherwise the graphics card enters the equation and the processor becomes the bottleneck, don't go crazy with processors if your resolution is above 1080p buy a better graphics card, a 5600x or 12600k is more than enough for 2k, 4k with ultra graphics.
U can only test cpu properly on 1080p 🤷🏻♂️ doing 1440p or4k will make u gpu bound so the cpu doesn’t really matter at that point cuz the different between most latest cpu will be minimal. This test is done to show the difference in performance of each cpu and not gpu hence the test was done by guy who post this is on 1080p.
At 1080p, the point of using an overkill GPU is to ensure the CPU is the bottleneck, not the GPU. It's the most effective way to show the limitations of these chips.

I think you made the right choice - for gaming the 7950x offers nothing over the 7600x except more power draw

You need to add flight sim 2020 in your videos. That's an ultimate test for hardware.

The difference between 7600X and 7700X is bigger then the difference between 7700X and 7950X.

Pretty much anything up to a 4080, the 4070 (non ti) coming out might be the ideal choice atm if it really costs 599

The Ryzen 9 is a lot faster, not 2x the money faster or 2x the wattage faster.

7700x is best. Use that extra money on the x3d on a better gpu. It’s better to wait till the 10k series of x3d if you really need those extra 7 frames

Who uses a $700 CPU to play in 1080???
U can only test cpu properly on 1080p 🤷🏻♂️ doing 1440p or4k will make u gpu bound so the cpu doesn’t really matter at that point cuz the different between most latest cpu will be minimal. This test is done to show the difference in performance of each cpu and not gpu hence the test was done by guy who post this is on 1080p.

At 1080p, the point of using an overkill GPU is to ensure the CPU is the bottleneck, not the GPU. It's the most effective way to show the limitations of these chips.
