Mike, you saved my life. I run an Airbnb. My guests are coming in two days. Toilet stopped filling up, and I was in full panic mode. No emergency plumbers out here in the country. I tried this hack, and it worked like a charm. Thank you, thank you!!!!
That's great to hear! Glad it helped you
@@MikeKlimek Pure genius, having the same problem, just replaced my deteriorated flapper, and now the fill valve won't fill, everyone suggests replace it.. but your video is the first that said clean it.. lol I also believe it is debri from the old flapper.
When I shut my water off I still hear the fill valve making noise is that normal?
I am gonna try this tonight when I get home from work!!
Will let you know if it works..

@@chriscangelosi9438 Thank you LOL! I would say if your fill valve is making noises with the water off, that is unusual.
My fill valve is sporadic. It fills then pauses and then fills a little then pauses and does that until all the way fill. I will try this and see what's up
Holy cow, this just fixed it! I've been dealing with this issue for a year and my landlord never sent anyone in to look at it. I never knew the fix was this simple. Thank you so much for the easy to follow tips!

My pleasure Toni!
watched your video, the wife wanted to call a plumber. I went to Home Depot sunday afternoon, bought the float value, did everything on the video, except remember how high the float valve was. There was air in the line, but eventually, the noise went away. Adjusted, viola. Saved me $150-250 for a plumber for 15 minutes of work. Thanks.
Welcome!

Mike, thanks for the easy to understand and follow directions. I was never sure how that thing came apart, so I just replaced them for $8. I subscribed in case I have other easy fixes I need help with!
Awesome-glad it was able to help you!
Practical no bullshit instructions. Fixed my fill valve not filling water problem at the first try in a couple of minutes. The deposits of corrosion gushed out of water inlet pipe after removing the fill valve. Viola, fill valve is back to normal.
You got a subscription from me for a brilliant thinking mind. 👏👏👏
LOL! Thanks
Thank you! Simple solution that I hadn’t thought of. Dirt and debris had backed up from a repaired line outside.
Thank you for sharing!!
Awesome-You're Welcome!

Mike, you rock! After watching your video, I mustered my courage (because I'm not accustomed to doing SUCCESSFUL home repair), and it took five minutes to fix the problem. I've posted my appreciation on my FB wall. I cannot thank you enough.
Awesome Judy! Glad to help you!
This worked for me! I’m so glad it was this easy and I didn’t have to replace the valve. What a simple fix! Now will try vinegar left soaking in the tank to remove mineral build up. Thank you!
You're Welcome!
Thank you, Mike! Super straight forward video and I was able to fix my toilet in less than 5 minutes. You're the man!
LOL! Way to go Deron!
Watched a valve replacement video just before this, so grateful to have run across this video. Worked like a charm. :D Thank you Mike!
You're welcome Zimmey!
Very helpful video. My toilet took around 15 minutes to fill the tank. I followed the instructions in this video and it now works fine. Thanks for saving me a lot of time and money. I was about to get a replacement valve kit.
That's great Martin! Glad it helped you!
Hey, Mike, thanks for making the fix-it video. Solved the problem. I called our building repair guy last night. He said just hold down the flush handle to fill up the tank. I got tired of pressing the long rod down to activate the pump to fill the tank. So, this morning, did exactly what you instructed.
I cleared out any debris. The bottom plastic screw was loose. So after 20 flushes works good again. Thanks again!
Awesome! You're welcome Phil!
Thanks for the video. It has been extremely useful and as you demonstrated it only took about 5 minutes to replace the Toilet Valve
Happy it helped you!
Thank you for this simple solution! I can't believe I didn't look for this before. Like so many others, this was the problem/solution. I am very grateful for your video.
Glad to help you!
Unbelievable ! This is for Real !
Repair took less than five minutes- and three minutes of that was to clear the magazines off the top of the tank !
thank you !
You bet I subscribed !
LOL! OK that made me laugh!
Amazing. Worked like a charm thank you sir

Excellent! You're Welcome!
THANK YOU came home to my toilet filling super slow, did this and it fixed it immediately
Awesome-that's great to hear!
Thank you for this!! I can't believe I fixed it myself (senior female on a fixed income with weak hands). Hardest part was turning the water off.
Now the floater thingy keeps falling off. I'll do some more searches. It's an older Hydroright Dual Flush and the fill valve parts are black, not the blue ones.
Thank you, than you! Many of the other videos I came across just mentioned replacing the fill valve. Mine was filled with grit from the city repairing a main valve on my street. This cleared it right out!
Awesome Nicholas=great to hear!
worked amazingly, thanks for sharing this.
Welcome!
As a single woman I tend to have to call in the troops when things go wrong. But I tried your solution and that was exactly what was wrong. I’m up and running again, full speed ahead… thank you thank you thank you!

Thank you so much. The water Dept installed a new meter and after the water was turned back on the tank was taking a couple of hours to fill up. This completely solved my problem 😊
That's great to hear! Glad to help
You are a life saver! Thank you!
Awesome-glad to help!
THANK YOU! Fixed!
I was working on a rusted and leaking pipe going into the house. After the repair and with the water turned back on, the toilet tank took forever to fill up. Turns out that rusted sediments clogged up the fill valve of the tank of the toilet.
Welcome!
Thank you so much! Almost bought a new fill valve. All it needed was a bit of cleaning. 👍
Sweet Paul! Glad it helped
I just finished fixing a toilet based on your instructions. Thank you.
Welcome!
Thank you so much ❤ I’ve been taking my toilet lid off for about a month and half and keep in mind I had a friend look at it and couldn’t fix it so I decided to go to RUclips and ran across your video and after watching your video a couple of times I decided to try it and did I mention I’m 66 years young with back problems …I thank you so much many blessings ❤
Way to go Ophelia!
Great job. Works like new again. Thanks Mike
Sweet! Glad to help!
Worked perfectly. Had a dislodged gasket at the base of the fill valve clogging the tube. removed it and now it filled the tank in a minute. thanks dude
Welcome Dave!
This was a lifesaver thanks Mike!
You're Welcome!
Thank you so much! Just got my slow filling toilet tank fixed. I couldn’t twist open the cap initially. After rewatching your video, then noticed that you pushed the wider part of that buoy up first before twisting. Thank you ☺️
Welcome!
Hmm. I spoke too soon. It works once, then slow flow again. I tried the same fix, worked once, slow flow afterwards. Any fix for that?
Thank you Mike!
I have been waiting a long time for my husband to fix the slow refill on my toilet. I finally decided to check RUclips to see if maybe I could fix it. Bingo, it worked and your instructions were perfect. I did use a Q-tip to make sure the filter was clean then used the glass like you said, but it was not squirting water like yours did so I got a chopstick and stuck it down the hole in the center of the filter. Repeated with the glass and it worked!!!
Way to go Ronna!!!
Did you serve your husband chinese food for dinner that night?😅
Bless you! I did everything you instructed step-by-step and it all worked perfectly. Only fiive minutes to fix. Thank you for being so clear, simple, and uncomplicated in your demonstration.
Glad it helped you!
Thanks Mike, I really appreciate the video - it was very helpful!
Awesome-nothing like an easy fix!
This just saved me so much hassle!!! Two teens that share a bathroom and the toilet was filling really slow. This was easy and fixed the problem! Thank you so much!
You're welcome Carolin!
Thank you sir for the quick and easy fix!
Welcome!
Thanks! You sent me in the right direction. However, I have the exact same valve, and when you take off the top as you showed, there are little rectangular holes around the center hole that were completely gummed up with stuff. I had to take a pick to get the gunk out, and THEN it worked! Important step not to miss if your valve is really gummed up! Thanks again.
Glad it helped you Peter!
Hi Mike, Thank you so much for this video. Your instructions and demonstration were perfect and I was able to fix my slow-filling toilet in under 10 minutes. Thanks again - I am subscribing right now.

You're Welcome!
Thank you so much for this video. I thought that was all one piece. It worked like a charm. You saved me a trip to town. Thanks again👍
You're Welcome Carl!
Still clogged. This video is excellent. It didn’t fix my problem. Turns out there’s a black rubber seal on the top, after you twist off the cover as the video shows. Lowes had replacement rubber seals for about 2 1/2 dollars. It was super easy to takeoff and put the new rubber seal on. I could see in the old seal, that there was some buildup and debris. Perhaps I could’ve cleaned the old rubber seal, but I had already purchased a new one. Anyways, this video is awesome, and it probably will work for most folks to follow just simply the video. However, if yours is still clogged, consider lifting off that little rubber seal at the top it’s easy to lift it up.
Same here! Thank you both!!
Thanks for sharing! I have to attack this issue tomorrow and now I know what I may be dealing with.💯👊🏾💪🏾👍🏾🙏🏾
Thank you! I have company coming tonight and you saved the day!

Sweet Van! Glad it helped!
Just used this video to help with my problem!! One thing I had to do that wasn’t mentioned was blow into the hose where the water comes out! I had A LOT of sediment inside the assembly, and I was able to blow it out. I have a private well, and will most likely have to do this again in the future! Thanks for the help!!
Glad to help you!
I went through the steps and found out that my issue was that the arm/valve was positioned around 2 O'clock. I moved it back to 5 O'clock and that fixed it immediately. Thank you!
Awesome-you're welcome!
Thanks Mike! turns out that wasn't my issue, but by following your steps i realized i had somehow turned down the water valve! Now my toilet actually works! I only suffered from this for 6 months :P

Thanks, you helped me fix my loo!
Sweet!!!
Great advice. Thank you!!!!
You're Welcome!
This did the trick. Looked at a few other websites that weren't helping. Tank fill went from over 4 minutes to 45 seconds! Not only that, but I realized that a properly functioning valve flushes more completely too: as the water level is dropping during the flush, the valve starts pumping water with the plug open. With more flow, I get a slightly larger flush, which has helped! When I pulled off the cap, there were some black chunks in there. I would guess they were some kind of old rubber washer that dried up and fell apart (?). This has me a bit nervous: if that was a washer, it probably was important, but I haven't heard a problem yet. I suppose if something goes wrong now, the answer is easy: replace the valve. Thanks!
Wow 4 minutes is crazy long-glad to help you!
Took me 30 seconds to do this and it worked like a charm.
Sweet! Just like it's supposed to!
This totally worked for me, thank you!!
Awesome Bonnie!
Thank you for this video! It helped me to locate the problem. I've ordered replacement parts for the entire refill apparatus. The problem was that the rounded bit wasn't moving well and finally got stuck, causing the water to run continuously. I tried flushing it, but in all honesty, I probably broke it completely trying to fix it myself. Plus, the valve required replacement. The refill was SLOW. After getting stuck with a $650 water bill with another toilet due to running, I should've replaced the valve at that time. I'm grateful to you for saving me another $700 plumbing bill. Your vids are incredible! I'm slowly learning how to be an adult! 😄
LOL Glad to help you!
