  • Elder David A. Bednar and Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shared similarities between Muslims and Latter-day Saints at a Brigham Young University conference in Provo, Utah, last October. They also introduced a new brochure outlining similarities and differences between the two faiths.

Thankful 🙏 for this and all efforts of our LDS leaders to share love, respect and each one who embraces our friendship to all without barriers. Thank you to all who help all and respect all. Being kind and respectful to all and from different cultures, religions, faith, beliefs, ethnicity or any social group. Respecting others and collaborating with others in peace 🕊️ building better societies. And being respectful and caring for others. Including with love and respect others who are different from you. ❤thank you 🙏🕊️🫂

I am a Muslim and I and our organisation, Rotherham Friends In Deed promote religious harmony and brotherhood! We are happy and pleased to hear the views of our brothers and sisters from Latter Day Saints! Together we can protect the rights of our common religious beliefs!

This is beautiful. I have often noted the similarities between Islam and LDS, both having a post Biblical prophet.

What ever we believe, we can show compassion for our brothers and sisters. This is what Jesus Christ taught. He taught to love God with our whole souls, and our neighbors
as ourselves. This is what great prophets taught throughout holy scripture also. If we teach intolerance, we are contradicting what God and the prophets commanded us to say, and do. We should even love our enemies, and pray for them.

Thanks for the message. Muslim hatred was getting to be too much from some members in the church.

Thank you for sharing this message! My family has hosted Muslim people from different denominations and we have identified more similarities than differences. I would not deny we have been badly persecuted by local church leaders from Tempe, Arizona and even by extended family but we know that Righteousness comes from God and that it is through their actions you get to recognize the true followers of God and even Christ!

Many of us do not. So, they would be correct in their "assumptions."

Before the Birth of Jesus Christ, Israelites used to be called Jews, those of them who accepted Jesus Christ as a Prophet of God Almighty were later on called Christians, after the Birth of the Last and Final Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, those Christians and others from different religions and Pagans who accepted Prophet Muhammad as the Last and Final Prophet of God Almighty are called Muslims.

I love both these men. Besides the desire to ensure religious freedoms to all people of any race or nationality, I am confused as to the need of producing a pamphlet for our members to read about muslim beliefs. Times are changing, and I am not a prophet as they are and I sustain them both.

Keep in mind that approximately 6 million Muslims are converting to Christianity each year. Many are having dreams of Jesus. There are many similarities between our beliefs. Besides the people of Africa, I don’t know of any other people on the earth right now that are more prepared for the Gospel than Muslims.

Go read Alma 27 about a people who sought forgiveness from the Nephites whom they had killed and murdered. It speaks of trying the hearts of the Nephites (verse 15). Mormon included that story for our day.

And in the end, that people generated the greatest love as a group anywhere recorded in the book (Alma 26:33), as well as produced sons who accomplished one of the greatest miracles of the book, one of the largest mass/group miracles, too (Alma 57:25-27, battle of Cumeni; similar is Alma 56:55-56, battle of Antiparah)...not a coincidence!
Thank you for your comment, Brother Daley! I am Brother Freeman. Love your beard too, by the way!

Wonderfully spoken Elders! Some media have persisted for decades in disparaging Muslims unjustly.
If it has been demonstrated that I have been willing to die for a "Mormon," I am bold to declare before Heaven that I am just as ready to die in defending the rights of a Presbyterian, a Baptist, or a good man of any denomination; for the same principle which would trample upon the rights of the Latter-day Saints would trample upon the rights of the Roman Catholics, or of any other denomination who may be unpopular and too weak to defend themselves. It is a love of liberty which inspires my soul - civil and religious liberty to the whole of the human race.
    -Joseph Smith, 1843

It's publicly available anywhere the internet is not censored and they have its translation in Arabic, Farsi and Turkish already...but I am guessing it will not disseminate widely, percentage-wise, among Muslims and latter-day saints, despite its significance. However, I think those blessed to read it, many will be blessed to realize, if they don't already, that truly we all believe in the same, main God. (I know Muslims believe there is truly only one God, Allah, with no other God or parts of God...no son or spirit gods, no heavenly mother, no three "partners" serving together as one God, as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes, etc.) So long answer short, yes. And I rejoice!

I was actually born Mormon, and after 6 years of being an atheist and lost, I’ve reconnected to God and a year ago converted to Islam Alhamdulillah! My family is still Mormon and we have so much respect for each other’s faith traditions. I’m blessed to have an accepting loving mother with the values of Mormonism. May we continue to seek God and receive his blessings and peace, Ameen
