Yes but you can't change the map on the go, I think it's a really good idea for a daily car so you can change to economy
@@ThomasDdm If you go with a good tuner you don't need to. You can get great economy staying within 1k - 2.5k revs and staying out of big boost and get great economy from a tuned car. Infact it lets you stay in a higher gear for longer. These chips are fooling you to think they do somethign better when setting it to economy mode.

I would watch Harris, Reid, and ??? Maybe Jimmy Carr? IDK if he is that much of a “petrol head” though. The current lineup is atrocious, and virtually unwatchable.

Love all Car Throttle vids but you guys need to do more vids like the Prelude project. Get an AW11 MR2 and put a b18cr or a 12a bridgeport in it or something (for example). I'm sure I'm not alone here with the desire for more of these vids.

The car had a catback exhaust and intercooler fitted so the Racechip is only a small part of the gains, brilliant series loved watching it.

Modded minis are definitely underrated.
Depends who you ask, really. Anyone who has driven the Nordschleife on a tourist drive day knows them Minis are hard to catch/ stay ahead of.

I have a grey mini r56 S that is now modified and remapped by Lohen to 270hp/350nm, little cars with that much power just fly :)

RagingNipples Bit of a cliché example here, but explain how the FWD F2 kit cars from the 90s were much faster through tarmac stages than the more powerful 4WD group A cars of the time..? FWD cars can be driven fast with a skilled driver and a good setup like the one in the video...

Some perspective: the single lap record for Curborough in the n/a standard car up to 2 litre class is 36.99 sec (exactly the same as the best for this mini). That was for a Honda S2000 and was 10 years ago, but it was equalled this year in a mk3 Renaultsport Clio. Remember, that’s a modified mini against standard cars. The power is about the same but it makes you realise the Clio and S2000 really have a sorted chassis from the factory! Having said that, I think the mini was facing tougher track conditions.

Just keep in mind that a Mini is quite expensive in maintenance... reliabilty isn't bad, but parts are expensive.

Copper roof and mirrors looks quite good. Needs rims to match. Remove the decals and this would look pretty excellent. Pretty incredible to see an R56 that isn’t broken hahah
I've got an R56 with the "stage 1" john cooper works tuning pack on it (and a suspected additional remap from before I got it 5 years ago?) and it's an amazingly fun car and fast enough to surprise a lot of things..... But.....
A warning to anyone that wins this, mines taken about £1.5k a year in unexpected costs to keep it on the road
Clutch (to be fair, probably due to previous owner)
Cam chain
Oil lines for turbo
Thermostat housing
High pressure fuel pump
Oil filter attachment housing
Cam chain (2) (30k miles and 2 years after #1)
Coil packs
New valve cover (PCV valve failed)
Multiple suspension parts (drop links on front anti-roll bars are really keen to start knocking)
Think it needs a water pump at the moment
Have to check and top up oil every week (1/2 litre every 1000m is considered "normal")
And, I know some bits I've forgotten!
Love it when it's running well but constant work to keep it that way!
(Oh and for a lot of those jobs, most the front end of the car has to be removed, so figure in Aircon re-gas and coolant replace in the cost!)
I take it yours is an N14 then? You shouldn't touch early R56s with a barge pole.

The suspension bits wouldn't be a huge problem with mine in isolation as they're fairly cheap, but.... The engine stuff has crippled me , I'll have paid for it in a few months and then it goes! (Honda next!)
I've heard the later (N16) ones are better but I'd also advise everyone to stay clear of the N14 early ones!
I had an E46 330ci before and that was pretty much bulletproof for 60k miles (other than water pumps, which was £30 every 2 years) so I foolishly got a BMW Mini!
Ah well, we all live and learn :)
Also from looking at a few shots, it seems you're running pretty standard camber at the front (e.g. its evident theres more rear camber than front). I'd suggest getting some adjustable top mounts on this and dialing in some front negative to really improve the front end on track. It'll kill the understeery natural balance of the car.

Mini cooper has always been a car I would love to own ❤ I've entered so hopefully I can live that dream ⏳
No one drives a Mini faster than me, but well done for trying. You missed some important mods that are cheap which would of made you go faster and impossible to spin. Mini's drift sideways when set up properly and are much more fun to drive than you showed. You really do need someone on your show who can drive cars properly, it would make great content.

Just from personal experience, MINI's handle a little better with a full tank of gas since the tank is under the rear seats; slightly better weight distribution in a front heavy chassis. The extra 50 or so pounds (compared to 1/2 tank) doesn't really make the car any slower. The rear end actually contributes to handling instead of just hanging out there getting dragged along for a ride. My current GTI is similar in this respect but not as pronounced (heavier car, simpler rear control arm design compared to the MINI).
That track is literally 2 mins from my house. That’s not fair 😂😂
