      Most departments wish they could. They can't though realistically. A lot of police depts had retention and salary issues BEFORE 2020. The budgets cuts and other laws passed to hamper them in their duties (e.g. Washington's "no chase" law) only made things more difficult for them.

      Thank you. For a while many americans were demanding the opposite. Defund the police, and send only one officer armed with a Nerf Rifle, a social worker to de-escalate, and a masseuse to help the suspect, should the officer have to hit the suspect with a Nerf round.

    • @HeroFinn
      @HeroFinn Год назад +3

      Don't think he was out of his mind. The man probably didn't realize that it was a police station, as not everyone knows what they look like. When he saw a police car pull up, he likely tried to sneak away into the closest building, which, ironically, turned out to be the police station. Given that he had a firearm, likely illegally, he decided to attempt to attack one of the officers. This decision would lead to either scenario A: being arrested, or scenario B: ending up incapacitated on the ground.

    • @bobbyginnings9273

      @@HeroFinn He was on a bad mix of hard drugs, which can easily result in psychosis, and if he was following the original caller around and hopped out leaving his car door open and rushing to the police station door before her, he was likely trying to nullify her future claim that he was harassing her by making a conflicting claim before she could make hers. Once he realized the cop wasn't going to let him leave without making contact/ searching him/ his car, he knew it was prison or death and he chose death but wanted to kill a cop first. None of his choices indicated he was sane or sober.

You just sound so old and condescending. Why do you people always have to make it about the gender when it’s a female officer. Just congratulate her as an officer. When someone sees an Asian guy the last thing you think of is him shooting you. Because from what you have seen they rare engage in violent crimes and even rarer carry a gun. So it's understandable considering the area they were plus the suspect they were dealing with that they turned their backs on him thinking he'd be a non issue. Excellent review of this terrifying senseless attack on both officers. I agree the downed officer was accepting that he was going to die and was trying to call home. The woman officer pulled off an amazing recovery to a compromised security situation. Bravo for her stunningly quick and effective actions. I suspect she was blatantly terrified about the suspect and was waiting for backup, knowing they would be there in less than a minute. This incident makes me angry because this is what you get when police officers are encouraged to be nice guys and gals by politicians, instead of always securing your perimeter at all times, before you start investigating a scene. The office who got shot assessed the suspect, who did a masterful job of hiding his murderous intent, as well as his firearm, as relatively harmless. What happened here is exactly why police can trust NO ONE but their fellow officers when they are in uniform. I am so damn glad she pulled that service firearm and got the shots on target. This could have easily been two dead cops and the woman he was following, dead as well. Thank you to both officers for their service to their community.

    Perfect example of how there are plenty of women that are fit for duty. Judging by the security camera footage she had the attacker down and out within 1.5 seconds of his first shot at the male officer. She is a role model.

    I completely empathize that he would want to reach out to a loved one to say final words... but you can't just assume you've already lost. STAY IN THE FIGHT UNTIL YOUR LAST BREATH!! You owe that to your family AND to yourself. Once the threat is over, allow yourself to feel what you have to feel, but you gotta give yourself the highest survival chance as possible, and that comes from 1) taking out the attacker 2) getting to safety and 3) tending to your worst wounds.

    Wow, the adrenalin rush you got to deal with, I remember times when the sounds of sirens sounded so comforting. When I would hear the sirens I would feel a weird relief that the cavalry is coming! That gave me the strength in these types of incidents. The female officer was truly a hero, training was the key here, she unpacked that gun at lightning speed and was right on target. Bonus time, no wait, cops don't get bonuses for a job well done.

    This is why I get so mad when people wonder why police are so strict about protocol and treat every person as a potential threat.
    Because they never know.
    They never know what you have going on. Dealing with a person is different than dealing with a cop. People get defensive and on guard when they see the uniform. So crazy people and people running from charges and warrants etc are a real danger and they have to be safe. He didn’t follow protocol to the dot and tragically he suffered for it.
