Most departments wish they could. They can't though realistically. A lot of police depts had retention and salary issues BEFORE 2020. The budgets cuts and other laws passed to hamper them in their duties (e.g. Washington's "no chase" law) only made things more difficult for them.

Thank you. For a while many americans were demanding the opposite. Defund the police, and send only one officer armed with a Nerf Rifle, a social worker to de-escalate, and a masseuse to help the suspect, should the officer have to hit the suspect with a Nerf round.

So he followed a random girl, right to the front door of the police station, stood there waiting, and then went 0-100 on two officers checking to see what's going on. I'm 100% certain this dude was out of his mind, and would have killed that girl if she didn't do what she did and go to the police station. Good on her, happy everyone who deserves to be safe is safe.

Don't think he was out of his mind. The man probably didn't realize that it was a police station, as not everyone knows what they look like. When he saw a police car pull up, he likely tried to sneak away into the closest building, which, ironically, turned out to be the police station. Given that he had a firearm, likely illegally, he decided to attempt to attack one of the officers. This decision would lead to either scenario A: being arrested, or scenario B: ending up incapacitated on the ground.
@@HeroFinn He was on a bad mix of hard drugs, which can easily result in psychosis, and if he was following the original caller around and hopped out leaving his car door open and rushing to the police station door before her, he was likely trying to nullify her future claim that he was harassing her by making a conflicting claim before she could make hers. Once he realized the cop wasn't going to let him leave without making contact/ searching him/ his car, he knew it was prison or death and he chose death but wanted to kill a cop first. None of his choices indicated he was sane or sober.

This actually happened in La Habra, California, just a few minutes away from where I’m at. It was a chaotic scene. I’m glad that Officer Fox saved Officer Milward, and he made a safe recovery.
To add on to this obvious bias they had being lax with the situation its not just the fact its in an affluent ridh neighborhood so violent crime and overall disorderly conduct is rare BUT also race was an element here. When someone sees an Asian guy the last thing you think of is him shooting you. Because from what you have seen they rare engage in violent crimes and even rarer carry a gun. So it's understandable considering the area they were plus the suspect they were dealing with that they turned their backs on him thinking he'd be a non issue. Trust me this would not have happened had the suspect been black white or Hispanic they would not have turned away from him and kept watch

Yep, it's recognizable as it's on the major street of Euclid. A 7 - 11 I have gone to is close. I had a chuckle when John said video was coming to us from Santa Ana where I live, that wasn't Santa Ana. But needless to say Officer made it, his partner did a fantastic job, and perp got his.
I guess we'll never know why he was following the lady. Good reminder to remain vigilant even when on the move in your car. Especially when pulling into your neighborhood. I always check the rearview mirror to see if anyone pulls in behind me and if they do I pay extra attention.

The woman officer pulled off an amazing recovery to a compromised security situation. Bravo for her stunningly quick and effective actions. I suspect she was blatantly terrified about the suspect and was waiting for backup, knowing they would be there in less than a minute. This incident makes me angry because this is what you get when police officers are encouraged to be nice guys and gals by politicians, instead of always securing your perimeter at all times, before you start investigating a scene. The office who got shot assessed the suspect, who did a masterful job of hiding his murderous intent, as well as his firearm, as relatively harmless. Perfect example of how there are plenty of women that are fit for duty. Judging by the security camera footage she had the attacker down and out within 1.5 seconds of his first shot at the male officer. She is a role model.
She was incredibly fast, and hit him with every shot. I'm glad, and surprised only 4 rounds were fired. She is an example of total control, and composure.

I've seen many comments on RUclips saying that women shouldn't be on patrol, should have desk jobs, blah blah blah. I always respond saying that I know a ton of extremely competent and tough female officers and that they absolutely belong on the Force. This video is one of MANY that proves it.
This female officer is obviously a vet , great shot and her composure after her partner was shot She calmly checked on him then called for backup . any other would run all over the place and never get a shot on target.
I completely empathize that he would want to reach out to a loved one to say final words... but you can't just assume you've already lost. STAY IN THE FIGHT UNTIL YOUR LAST BREATH!! You owe that to your family AND to yourself. Once the threat is over, allow yourself to feel what you have to feel, but you gotta give yourself the highest survival chance as possible, and that comes from 1) taking out the attacker 2) getting to safety and 3) tending to your worst wounds.
Wow, the adrenalin rush you got to deal with, I remember times when the sounds of sirens sounded so comforting. When I would hear the sirens I would feel a weird relief that the cavalry is coming! That gave me the strength in these types of incidents. The female officer was truly a hero, training was the key here, she unpacked that gun at lightning speed and was right on target. Bonus time, no wait, cops don't get bonuses for a job well done.
This is why I get so mad when people wonder why police are so strict about protocol and treat every person as a potential threat. Because they never know. They never know what you have going on. Dealing with a person is different than dealing with a cop. People get defensive and on guard when they see the uniform. So crazy people and people running from charges and warrants etc are a real danger and they have to be safe. He didn’t follow protocol to the dot and tragically he suffered for it.
That's why it's a good thing when the police are an actual part of the community and behave as such through outreach and behaving like role models. Too bad that's too much to ask for most departments in the US nowadays...

She was incredibly fast, and hit him with every shot. I'm glad, and surprised only 4 rounds were fired. She is an example of total control, and composure.

Her response time was lightning fast. From the perps shots breaking to her shots dropping him, was not more than a couple of seconds max.

Great shooting, and she did great keeping eyes on the target to make sure he is actually down. I wish she could have started first aid but she really could not.
We have seen too many 're-animation' clips
I've seen many comments on RUclips saying that women shouldn't be on patrol, should have desk jobs, blah blah blah. I always respond saying that I know a ton of extremely competent and tough female officers and that they absolutely belong on the Force. This video is one of MANY that proves it.
This female officer is obviously a vet , great shot and her composure after her partner was shot She calmly checked on him then called for backup . any other would run all over the place and never get a shot on target.
I completely empathize that he would want to reach out to a loved one to say final words... but you can't just assume you've already lost. STAY IN THE FIGHT UNTIL YOUR LAST BREATH!! You owe that to your family AND to yourself. Once the threat is over, allow yourself to feel what you have to feel, but you gotta give yourself the highest survival chance as possible, and that comes from 1) taking out the attacker 2) getting to safety and 3) tending to your worst wounds.

Wow, the adrenalin rush you got to deal with, I remember times when the sounds of sirens sounded so comforting. When I would hear the sirens I would feel a weird relief that the cavalry is coming! That gave me the strength in these types of incidents. The female officer was truly a hero, training was the key here, she unpacked that gun at lightning speed and was right on target. Bonus time, no wait, cops don't get bonuses for a job well done.
This is why I get so mad when people wonder why police are so strict about protocol and treat every person as a potential threat.
Because they never know.
They never know what you have going on. Dealing with a person is different than dealing with a cop. People get defensive and on guard when they see the uniform. So crazy people and people running from charges and warrants etc are a real danger and they have to be safe. He didn’t follow protocol to the dot and tragically he suffered for it.

That's why it's a good thing when the police are an actual part of the community and behave as such through outreach and behaving like role models. Too bad that's too much to ask for most departments in the US nowadays...
