This video disappeared when I was looking for it a while back... Now it's back. Glad but I had no idea I could be so pissed off and be so calm at the same time...
I've been coming back to this song for years now... Just absolutely everything about it, song, video... perfection. So much poetry in there. Intention. It's lovely.
a true lesson in Indy rock..kinda country, tasteful, intelligent lyrics, free form vibes, light flourishes of jangling over driven guitars..what's not to love.
I don't say this very often, and when i do no-one listens anyway, but this is an Australian Classic song and video. It evokes Paul Kelly, Chris Bailey and The Saints, but Courtney and Kurt have their own spacial feel. (I meant to type 'special' but I think 'spacial' is the right word). I only discovered their music last week.
“When I’m outside in a real good mood, you can almost forget ‘bout all the other things, like a big ol’ ominous cloud in my periphery..” God, what a line.
their friendship is so pure. i love those little inflections and faces they make when they're lip-syncing each others' parts. it's clear they know each other well and love to goof on each other
I see lots of comments on how great this music is (correct!) but I want to give props to the visual pleasure, the concept, the beauty of the video as well.
@@philippelrsy I don't know much about this Courtney Vile person but seeing he/her gigging with Kurt Barnett…that alone really elevates him/her in my eyes
lost pretty much everything during hurricane irma on St John US Virgin Islands. A famous country music singer friend of mine sent me to israel for 7 weeks, and, walking around the desert near the dead sea at Ein Gedi, i ran across this beutiful song. it changed everything. it was at this moment that i realized..."i got this." thanks, Kurt and Courtney. you guys are the shit., and you cats have a new fan that will probably hang around for every new song you produce. cheers. And with much love.
I was in jail for a brief period this song immediately relieved me of depression that’s definitely a powerful song and anxiety and when I first heard this in radio I was writing as many words down as I could so I could listen to it when I got out. Bravo
A perfect duo. These two are a musical match. And the frame composition as well! The mirroring shots. Him in the Philly/PA-area, her in Australia. What a beautiful video.
I'm a 78 year old relic from the Little Richard era. I've followed music through the ages and I have to say that Courtney Barnett is the first musician to REALLY impress me for quite a while. Other loves are Shirley Manson (Garbage) and Caro Emerald. So you see, I have good taste. Kurt's brilliant too.
I love music and I lost my dad last yr and had no desire to listen to music after and later on I avoided it because it would make me too emotional and I couldn't control it.. this is the first 'new song' I listened to and it really just described my emotion I don't play an instrument or anything but just blaring music and ignoring life I guess because music makes me feel better/experience something that is really unique and special and at the time I was over everything. Love this song so much awesome collaboration.
Oh god... chills I had not felt in a long time roaming around my arms while listening to this. Have great expectations on this album. Seems like a good one for thinking and walking around
I listened to Courtney Barnett on the radio, live at some ATX festival with my best friend gerald. He died a few years ago... im fckn never gonna recover... I worked a show for Courtney and kurt in Dallas. Gave them keys to a golf kart. And the pool. At SMU. They broke glass in the pool. I about lost my job but it was worth it.
Beautiful visuals, wonderful chord structures, seemingly honest lyrics. What we have here is a couple dorks and a few friends and a nice place to be. And I mean dorks in the nicest way.
The Melbourne Director of Photography, Sherwin Akbarzadeh, did a remarkable job of finding locales for this video. the scenes 1t 4:02 and, in particular, 4:17 were just glorious....
No matter what is happening around me, this song always finds a way to make me feel like any problem which is happening right now could be gone at any time soon. So I feel like taking life not too seriously, just relax with the music and art you love, fuck everything else.
this song came on this french radio station my art teacher plays in the background of class the other day and it reminded me of this song and this video and honestly its just superb. I love that I see my life in courtney's backgrounds and I love reading that philly people see their lives in kurt's backgrounds. and just like the shots are beautifully composed and i love black and white at the moment and the lil aboriginal flag on courtney's guitar I am Obsessed
At cretin times in the begging I think Kurt and Courtney are trying to act like one another and thats why Courtney is being mundane and Kurt is being supper happy and peppy .
Another one of my favorite albums of 2017. Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile play wonderfully as a duo. Wrap your ears around the wandering vibes of this record.

What an absolutely wonderful concept! Brilliantly shot and composed. So simple and effective. It's when instead of moving a camera or zooming in on the lens while you're filming, you add a digital zoom later. Instead of the zoom happening in physical space, it simply pushes into the existing footage. A lot of music videos use this technique because they lack the time/budget to do these moves on set, or they feel they need a little extra pizazz while they're editing.
Ahhh okay! I thought that might be it, and yeah I can certainly think of places where I've seen this. The stationary images here are so much better though, especially as they keep getting further from the camera.
hey do you ( or does anyone ) know the words to Life Like This? If you do can you please share them here? I can't figure them all out but love the song soooo much! THX!

I find myself as a lucky person, that I am from Philly and will have a chance to see Kurt play. Kurt can you do a virtual reality set with Courtney? That would make my day.

I keep coming back to this - some of the most beautiful photography I've ever seen in a music video
When I'm all alone on my own by my lonesome
And there ain't a single another soul around
I wanna dig into my guitar bend a blues riff that hangs
Over everything
When I'm by myself and it's daytime 'cause down-under
Or wherever it is I live when it's evening
You know I speed read the morning news and come up with my own little song also
Too
When I step outside to a beautiful morning
Where the trees are all wagging, my hair flag waving
The scenery raging, my life love cascading and the smog hangs
Over everything
When I'm outside in a real good mood
You could almost forget about all the other things
Like a big old ominous cloud in my periphery
Eh eh, ah ah ah, oh, eh eh eh
Don't wanna talk about it
Simultaneous I shout it
When I was young I liked to hear music blaring
And I wasn't caring to neuter my jams with earplugs
But these days I inhabitate a high-pitched ring over things
So these days I plug 'em up
When I'm strugglin with my songs I do the same thing too
And then I crunch 'em up in headphones, 'cause why wouldn't you?
You could say: I hear you on several levels at high decibels
Over everything
When I'm all alone on my own by myself
And there ain't a single another one around
I wanna dig into my guitar, bend a blues riff that hangs
Over everything
Don't wanna talk about it
Talk about it, talk about it
Talk about it, talk about it
Over everything
Talk about it
Don't wanna talk
Don't wanna talk
Ain't nobody wanna talk about it
Don't wanna
Don't wanna talk about it, about it
They don't wanna, oh they
They don't wanna talk about it
No, they don't wanna
Talk about it, about it
