@@lawrencekedz no, knowing all of that doesn't help. I mean...it helps but that's not the answer. Kurt has plenty of poor grammar thrown in his songs but for some reason, like Beefheart, its endearing.
I keep coming back to this song and video month after month over the years. I'm really grateful for this, and to know that there are people who think and feel this way, and who make art that is so generous and uplifting. Jeez.
Having such a hard time right now and hearing this and Kurt Vile for the first time ever tonight, just randomly on RUclips. Like this song a lot. And the last couple. 3 songs in. Would see his name and things but never actually heard him. This feels good
Well, I couldn't tell what it is. But when I hear this song I feel like I am 16 years old again. And all the wonders of the world are still waiting for me. Fresh and sweet. This is unbelievable.
Imagine being a musician and reading this kind of stuff... Must be so incredible ! I could definitely picture Kurt being in the OST of my childhood, wish he was doing music at that time.
Who else is in the conversation? Bon Iver? Sufjan Stevens? Nick Cave? An argument could be made for a small handful of artists who are gifted so far beyond their peers that you could make that statement without sounding like a fool, but I think that Kurt is the most accessible/least pretentious of them all. And there's a simple positivity to his work that is completely absent from the other geniuses of the current day. As a 52 year old man who used to write and play for a living, and who used to listen to music all day/every day 15 years ago, he's the artist who caused me update my home audio equipment and purchase obscenely overpriced headphones so I can listen all day/every day again.
Never listened to this song before. Shit, make me cry, Kurt! In a good way. Echo others' notes that just having his music emphasized out in the world would vibe us all proper.
he's so good. Not to take away from Kurt, and more to spread the love, but in case you haven't dipped into "The war on drugs" yet, he was involved with them in the early days as well, and they rock with/without Kurt.
I love how he takes such a negative concept as a one trick pony but transforms it into something that isn’t such a bad things. Great vibes over, he seems like the kind of guy I want to be friends with
Just saw him at The Moore in Seattle. Such a great show. His lyrics just crack me up. And the melodies are... dreamy? What is the right word... anyway, Kurt... has a sound all his own.
No, how cool is this guy?! I just discovered, and have watched this video non-stop. Reminds me of a couple of friends growing up. I feel like I grew up with Kurt! (I guess I kinda did.)
He has a soft spot for repetition. no shit, so do I. and no shit, he always sounds the same, but thru those mystical, well, never-you-mind, his music never fails to capture and fascinate me. plus, long hair in rocknroll is important, people, even if we're only one-trick ponies... i'm buying the damn LP tomorrow, first thing in the morning.
Kurt vile has very quickly became a top personal artist of mine. Really helps to get my creative juices flowin and just get down and enjoy life that much more. Rock out
@Elijah Finch cool man I’ll check it out thank you , I’ve just uploaded an acoustic song I did called the diviner check it out of you want , all the best Sid
Praise the Lord. Kurt this is just… I don't know what to say ❤❤❤

I appreciate this to the utmost degree.
Loved you always

Love it
What's the one thing you're good at?
"some are weird as hell but we love 'em" - Kurt talking about himself
He's talking about all of us that fit that bill. Weird is just another way to say "original." Yeah...im.going to go with that.
Today I drove across Texas and this song came on. 👍
Love the little 'whou!' that he shouts randomly before the verse
yeah me too. I had to rewind cos I thought it was the neighbor's dog.
How does he take the most naively composed music and make it so beautiful and fascinating? This guy is a genius.

Makes writing seem easy. The best ones do that. From experience, I am acutely aware that the very last thing songwriting is is EASY!

Kurt is the gold standard. He is the conduit and the torch bearer for music made the way it's supposed to be made. What a gift and what a burden.
I remember when I'd always hear this on the radio after a long hard nightshift, and it felt like a hug. I really needed a hug all those nights.
I want this played at my funeral
Me too. And everyone needs to sing the "wooo hooo" mystical never you mind chorus...
funerals are narcissistic

Kurt you’ve gotta be my favorite modern musician of all time. If I ever have children I want to raise them on your music. Beautiful song
Erik Frost my ideas are my baby’s and they have been inseminated with Kurt vile jams
SAME
I have children and I can confirm that 'b'lieve I'm goin' down' is very well received by said children.

I love how he just chucks and idea of conventional melody and lyrical structure out the window
Underappreciated is the word describing this artist and that song.
This album is gonna be so fire!
