Why Siri Is Not As Smart As Alexa Or Google Assistant
"And increasingly , they're able to understand us"
Siri : I'm not sure I understand 🤣🤣💀
When we were kids it used to be an 8-ball reply hazy
That part killed me 😂😂😂
It’s because Apple chooses to keep your privacy a priority... in order for Siri to evolve Apple would have to cut down on the extra data security allowing Siri to analyze everything you do. She doesn’t tho, android allows this.

oh, FYI, Google Assistant can recognize two languages at once. It's the best Assistant right now and is one of the reason I still stick with Google.
yeah, one time I asked for something in Spanish without even noticing only to then realise that Google Assistant did not hesitate and gave the answer in Spanish.
Lol just tried it, thats pretty cool.
Google asistant?? FYI Siri is way superior, lmao you use laggy Android, enjoy your constant crashes and extreme lag hahaha. Apple is way better.
@@RicardoMontania Siri is superior? You probably never used an Android phone.
Yeah, I has great things in comparison to others, but IMO all assistants are (still) bad at their jobs. Or at least that's what I gather from people saying Google Assistant is the best Assistant, because in my experience Google Assistant is super clunky, a few special reasons make feel like this:
A. They need you to say the exact, precise and specific words or otherwise they know nothing about what you're talking about. You can't say "Convert 3 us dollars to mexican pesos", you have to say "Convert three U S D to M X N" or otherwise it just searches conversion sites online
B. They stop listening the moment you hesitate a little bit (I think that's why phones now come with Assistant buttons, if not: WHY?
C. Even though they claim they have offline interactions, none of them work, I have downloaded two offline languages and not even once I made them work
D. Not even the specific magical words work most of the time: "Ok, Google search for rice recipes" => "I can search that for you"
E. The most insanely basic ideas aren't programed to the thing. For example, you can't activate activate Bluetooth/WiFi/GPS it takes you to their configurations screen so you do the thing
E.2. Programming functions in to the thing is awfull! Who the hell though writing verbal stuff is the way to stablish routines?! Just make it look like Scratch and that's it!
With all this they are trying to sell me that it is supposed to make calls for me?
My Google Assistant correctly replied "Andromeda Galaxy" to what's the nearest galaxy to the milky way...

Personally, I think that the coolest thing that virtual assistants could bring to the table is the ability to eventually create universal translators. Once we are able to talk to anyone around the world that will bring more employment opportunities. You won't have to have a 3rd party there to translate.
I'm a huge Star Trek fan and the universal translator is one of the most useful adaptations that can be brought into our lives that 50 years ago was complete Science-Fiction.
I sometimes argue with Google assistant for amusement.

Siri is absolutely rubbish at listening and adapting to your voice and accent. She has like a 20% chance of properly understanding address names. Most times she completely misunderstands and automatically defaults to sending you on a random route for a 3 hour drive to nowhere.
Virtual Personal Assistants literally exist to spoon feed humans. Get with the times weeb.

I think it's because Google & Amazon utilizes the massive amount of data they collect but Apple just ''privacy''
If you have a phone you have no privacy. Doesn't matter who or what. Companies use your data, however you are anonymous so it really doesn't matter
And I'm thankful for that. I know many believe that simply using the internet erodes your "right" to privacy, but instead of using that as an excuse or simply not trying to help, Apple seems to AT LEAST be trying to make sure our lives are kept as private as they can be in the internet age. I'd rather they get Siri up to par while keeping my privacy in tact than to cave in and hoard massive amounts of data like Google/Amazon
@@mgs1398 what ? Arent iphones the ones celebrities got all their photos stealen from ? And i even remember secret services were super mad at Trump that he is using iphone for state bussiness, as its basically unprotected. If its one company i would never trust with personal information, apple is first one the list.
Enkabard seriously? having your information hacked is different than the company itself harvesting your data dude. And to your second point, if this was truly the case, there wouldn't have been a big debacle over how the FBI couldn't access a terrorist's messages, call history, and data due to Apples encryption. You must be misinformed.
@@Enkabard which stupid articles do you read??? F*cking FBI was not able to access iPhone bcoz of its encryption. Google at present knows what are u doing who you are your entire family background. And Apple only has your browsing history, apple doesn't track you, Google does. And those celebrity accounts were hacked. If u think apple is most susceptible to privacy you dont know anything about tech

Siri voice recognition is pretty bad tho
@@W0nTonSoup She doesn't even answer on my ipad.
Improving Siri would be a good way for Apple to spend its $60+ billion annual free cash flow
I meant $60 billions
Ishfaaq ---- You're so right. In fact Apple has been doing it for years. In 2018 Apple spent 13 billion on R&D, a good size chunk of that goes to Siri, Machine Learning and other AI projects. In the most recent keynote on Monday they discussed a huge number of apps that have been improved by ML.
Now the Google propagandists want you to use their privacy destroying system, that is their business model. Apple has architected Siri to protect your privacy and on the A12 iPhones have a Neural Engine that does peak calculations of 5 trillion ops per second. Does Google have something like that? Of course not.
Apple users make Siri the most widely used assistant in the world. None of them are going to switch to Google assistant. Sorry. All they care about is that Siri is getting better on a regular basis.
@@bruxi78230 People can't switch because of iOS's walled garden.
@@John_C_J ---- I prefer to say it a different way, I think the walled garden concept is flawed. Apple has been incredibly successful in providing ways for third parties to participate in their ecosystem. This includes millions of software developers, thousand of companies making accessories, and huge numbers of media companies.
What really is happening is a powerful network effect. The more cool features that the ecosystem provides, the higher probability that a customer doesn't want to do without. There are thousands of reasons to remain with Apple. Obviously they can't stop improving and wish to continue to grow. Last year for example Apple grew by a 100 million devices to have a total of 1.4 billion active. I think within 3 years they will have about 2 billion active devices.
@@bruxi78230 In a world where Android, other innovative OEMs making products for all price ranges and Google's free services doesn't exist, sure Apple can prosper. As of right now, its the isolated ecosystem that keeps users in.

To prevent any wars in the comment section. Apple doesn’t collect any user data to “improve” the voice assistance
People are always so freaked out about collecting user data. Smh it's not like the U.S government spies on us all the time and our Google searches.
Kqog so what you’re saying is that just because someone(a government agency) already does it, we should be okay with everyone(including private companies doing it for profit) doing it?
@@go2yanks Data such as age, gender, race, and different interests should be able to be shared so the companies can target certain demographics.
Kqog What gives a company the right to collect data on me without my permission? If I pay for a service, I should have some significant expectation of privacy. That’s the whole reason I pay for it. If I wanted my data collected I’d use the free version of everything.
@@go2yanks Pay for a service.
Give examples in this context. Google is free and their assistant comes standard with any Android device.
When you pay for a service, you agree to their terms and conditions. It is on YOU to make sure that you do not agree to these terms if you don't want your data to be collected.

Siri couldn’t even turn on the flash light until a couple months ago... half the time she says she canceled nav and then keeps going. She’s beyond fired.
To me I don't use those technologies on a regular basis, but they are interesting to occasionally play with them. Certainly apple's focus on privacy reduced the amount of data available to enable siri to properly compete with the other assistants that have a bigger data set to work with such as google, microsoft, and amazon.
hbarudi Nah, what’s holding them back is they refuse to work with competitors and learn, using outdated processes. Ex. Bing search engine+Apple maps instead of Google. Blocking Spotify to encourage Apple Music subs. It has very little to do with privacy, considering they outsource all their data analysts.
