Good luck finding the Kirkland. Here in Jacksonville, you practically need to be standing in the store when the truck pulls up, which they tell me happens only once every year or two. Guess that it's made only when Barton has surplus.
Just because you have experienced palates and May be able to pick out what is in your glass, doesn’t mean you’re not going to make a mistake. I think a more scientific approach would be for them to be blind all the time. Bias is a thing, no matter how objective we try to be. I like the choice based on P3 after you know the $ & other details. Fantastic as always Chad & Sara
I often associate a color with a bourbon! It seems to encapsulate how bright/dark it is, the fruit elements it may express, and how warm (not ethanol heat) a pour may be. 🤙
I bought a bottle of the KIrklands Single Barrel at my local store a month ago, but it was marked up to $42. Since I dont have a Costco close to me I bought it anyway, and it was suprisingly good. Have not seen a 1792 full proof in along time.
I was fortunate to get the Kirkland here in Washington state. I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope Costco will be bringing it back! That or another unique, quality bourbon...
Perhaps a good series? The evolution of your tasters? Haven't listened to the two of you in a while, and WOW, the detail of your tasting notes are advancing!!! What have been the game changers in the evolution of the development of your tasters?
I am glad to see you re-loosed this video, as I had seen that Costco brand and sorta wondered how they were. Hope you both had a great trip and look forward to hanging this Sunday! I have to study my P3 in case it's on the test! 🥃 Here's an LOL Chad
I’m so happy that you said it taste purple. I say that all the time. Lol I feel better thinking that now. When someone says that they get grape, I say hmmm i get purple. Haha
This was interesting with the full proof -vs - a single barrel. Chad had a good point that single barrels will vary. I’ve had that with Blanton’s that I’ve purchased the past few years. As for a suggested “this or that” - Jack Daniels Single Barrel, Barrel Strength -vs- Elijah Craig barrel prove. I think is should be a blind tasting. Thanks for doing these and keep it up.
For your next drink this or that, comparing two different high proof ryes like Knob Creek Cask Strength Rye vs. WT Rare Breed Rye, would be interesting.
Since both are NAS clearly packaging and age differences could be factors in the price disparity. Also COSTCO tends to not gouge people on prices as even standard official bottlings of spirits. Costco tends to be much lower than liquor store retail prices by 10-15%. Whisky Mystery has a nice formula to account for age and he normalizes to 40%. Price / (ABV/40) gets you the bottle price at 40 ABV. Then divide that by the years on the bottle.
Honestly, color coding is a fantastic way to start people giving tasting notes. A color might invoke a flavor or aroma for a very personal reason that you can get people to tell a story about.
I’d never seen Full Proof on a shelf here in Dallas, Tx. I got my bottle when an employee at Specs asked me if I wanted a bottle, he walked to the back and I got it for retail. Needless to say we exchanged numbers lol
I have a question for you, I was considering doing a double barrel of something of decent quality but relatively inexpensive. I was going to do one of the smaller 3L barrels, my first thoughts were to use WT 101 but was thinking this higher proofed 1L Kirkland might be a good candidate?? Thoughts??
Went to my Costco in Indiana today and they dont carry it so I asked for the closest that does, out of 101 midwest Costco stores only 1 carries it and thats in Diluth MN
I'd rather drink Jack Daniels Barrel Proof above either. It's tastes very similar to the 1792 Full Proof with the banana profile, but much more flavor and less pepper bite in the palate/finish. I bet it bats above 1792 P3 rating and is definitely more readily available.
I think Old Forrester 100 vs Coopers Craft 100 would be a good This or That blind. Both very similar Brown-Foreman products, is the gimmicky barrel worth the slightly higher price?
Around here the Costcos only got one quick shipment of the SiB. I was lucky enough to have a quick instacarting wife when it dropped, because it was gone within the day!
The guy at the store recommended 1792 and I'm not sure why. I found it to be just average, nothing special, but bottled in a way that makes it look like it's a TJ Maxx product.
I had the Kirkland BIB….LOVED IT, went back to get more a few days lasted annnnnnnd it was gone (imagine that!). Employee told me about this single barrel that was “arriving soon” so I went back EVERY truck day for months and struck out. THEN one day I went in looking around and found out that it came on a NON-truck-day and the entire pallet was wiped out in 2 hours. I HATE THE POPULARITY OF BOURBON, BOURBON GROUPS AND SOCIAL MEDIA….all of which are absolutely DESTROYING availability for those of us who JUST WANT TO DRINK BOURON! 😡🖕🤬
@@justiny328 yep! Anything that can be wiped out off the shelves (or kept from ever even SEEING the damn shelves by the owners and managers of stores) creates demand enough for asshats to sell for double or more what they paid for it! Greedy bastards
Saying it is "just too easy" to identify is showing that you have become jaded and forgotten that there are people trying to learn here. If there is no reason to blind taste, there is no reason to do a tasting. Start showing cat videos.

I didn't see it in Pierce County 😕
@@NorthWestBourbon It went quickly. I got mine at the Bonney Lake Costco
Gotcha, I was checking the Tacoma and Gig Harbor ones regularly and never saw it
You guys funny!! Didn’t love my bottle of the Costco one, but do love the Full Proof, so to me it’s quite possible you got a good barrel. :)
Blind tasting definitely gives so much more of an authentic review! Great video! Cheers🥃

I picked up a 1792 Full Proof for $45.99 at a non-chain (non-cheap) booze barn in Texas yesterday, just for reference.

Unfortunately batches can vary too. ECBP has been an example of that the last few years

The P3 rating idea is genius!
1792 has finally shown up in So Cal at the prices everyone talks about. Full Proof, BIB, Single Barrel. 😃Sm Batch was always here.

I like that formula!
This episode was super fun. Cheers guys!
The Kirkland BIB was 23.99 at my Indianapolis Costco.
I’ve tried quite a few variations of 1792 and i always get bazooka Joe bubble gum..! I’d like to find the Kirkland, maybe I’ll have to make a trip
Got mine for $44 at TNT Package in Woodstock.
Honestly, color coding is a fantastic way to start people giving tasting notes. A color might invoke a flavor or aroma for a very personal reason that you can get people to tell a story about.
Good lord I missed you guys, cheers!
It's all about the markup. Small vs huge markup
Acceptance…that movie is hilarious 😂 and highly underrated imo
Boom, got the reference!

Yeah, I would say that would work well, but also WT101 is a banger, would be sad to leave it out!
Thanks for this review. I’ve often wondered if Kirklands bourbon and scotch are worth buying
Some bourbons yes.
I agree I don't care for the Kirkland scotch just too bland
@@coreybaute7098 ahhh man…kinda bummed to hear that.
I now want a P3 shirt. Make it happen IBN!

I actually toured the Barton distillery in 2018 and prices have gone up because I got the Barton 1792 for $30 at the distillery then
Good video 🥃

1792 full proof store picks are $39.99 in Chicagoland area. The Kirkland is always out of stock . $10 more for better tasting is fine with me.
I think Old Forrester 100 vs Coopers Craft 100 would be a good This or That blind. Both very similar Brown-Foreman products, is the gimmicky barrel worth the slightly higher price?
Awesome video
People say 1792 full proof overrated. I'm big fan
Around here the Costcos only got one quick shipment of the SiB. I was lucky enough to have a quick instacarting wife when it dropped, because it was gone within the day!
KS is great for the price 👏🥃
Great video as always, got to give that lol 😂.
That Jerry Seinfeld voice is awesome.
Buying power. I’ve seen Sazerac rye for 19.99 at Costco.
Now I just need to lend you guys the Liquor Barn 125 proof to make it even harder
team Sarah but Chad earned this.
LOL, buddy!
My wife describes all whisk(e)y by the color they bring to her mind.
Beautiful!
Blind is better. P3 is interesting for sure, a cheap against an expensive.

I agree to an extent, but is there a secondary market for Kirkland's SiB? Haven't looked honestly.

RIP Chandler 😢
My Kirkland single barrel blows even my store pick 1792 full proof out of the water! Don't sleep on the Kirkland bottled in bond either
You guys are awesome!!
That 1792 bottle retails for $39.99 at my local(AZ) liquor superstore(TW), so price difference is not as big.
That 1792 isn’t going to be under 100 here in Bardstown
LOOK AT THE P3!!!!!!?!?!?!!!!!
Get Sara some leopard print and do a bourbon music video
Chad, lol
Next Blind: Ew 1783 vs EW BIB
This must be the second video you guys made that day. Seems like Sara(h) is making an appearance.
The bourbon chakra.
I've had quite a bit of 1792 in the last few years and the more different bourbons i drink, the less i feel like it's a $50 bottle.
Taste purple? Like a grape?
I think they meant plum.
So Price Per Proof Point for 750ml 😅
Woodford Double Oak vs 1910
Do them all blind, it's just more fun to watch!
Whiskey aura...really.
Wooo
Chad, I laughed
Lol
