As a Bourbon Tasting Newby, an old Scotch drinker, and big time wine connoisseur, I am watching “tons” of RUclips videos on Bourbon tasting and have discovered that you, Sir, are going away my favorite. Short, to the point, very Bourbon knowledgeable, and a person who “sells” the product and NOT himself. Excellent video.
I'm just now growing a fascination for whiskey and this was the first reveiw channel I came across. Here's a gentleman that's knows his whiskey. You good sir earned yourself a loyal sub!!
My local liquor store is vary limited I'd doubt they have it. I am interested in the full proof but I'm still tryna build my pallet for bourbons. Kind of work my way up to the more higher shelf products. As of know I'm going off your beginner guide's and reveiws till I get a better sense of knowledge so to speak!!
The small batch is amazing and I always make sure I have at least one or two stocked in reserve. Never tried the full proof but I have avoided the bib because you’re not the only one who has said the bib is nothing crazy.
Interesting how a couple other bourbon channels picked bottled in bond as their favorite of this lineup. Even besting the 12 year and the single barrel in addition to the full proof and small batch. 🤔
Great run down of the core range of the 1792 bourbon!! Love this stuff!! All are great offerings that are priced very well!! Great vid Bill!! Cheers!!🥃
I sipped the full proof along with you on this video. Then I sipped some more. Man I like it! I am no where near advanced enough to dispute the 'Whiskey of the Year' claim but it did make it to my top shelf. Very nice review!!
Bill, I've only had the FP and it was a Store Pick. It is FANTASTIC = so well balanced and great caramel and toffee notes. One of my best tastes in 2019. Wish I had bought more 12 months ago but only lasted 2 days on the shelf. Then Jim Murray's #1 rating came out and prices jumped WAY up. Cheers and Stay Safe.
Had the FP just last night. The main smelling note I had was a spice cake with cream cheese frosting. Loved every second of it. Im a woodford fan. And i would pit this against them. And I agree for that proof "NO BURN!"
I got a ton of aroma notes on the Full Proof, actually had an OMG moment before I even tasted it. Here's my take on it: Tangy fruit(pear, lychee, green grape), new oak, green grass, bubblegum, tobacco, honey roasted almond, vanilla bean, English toffee, Frosted Flakes cereal, slight note of chlorine but not a negative kinda like a fresh clean towel, fresh mint/cilantro, paraffin, cocoa powder, sand/rust/quarry, charred wood spice.
Good video 👍, I just about finished the 1792 (small batch)bottle. I think I'll skip the (bib)and look for the (full proof) after this lockdown is over, thanks, 🥃cheers.
I love the full proof, the banana and black tea notes on the palate are amazing. That said I don't know if it's whiskey of the year, maybe top 10 though.
I kind of like bottled in bond the best. I have a full proof store pick that is amazing but tastes completely different than the regular version which is a little too hot
$26! It's $45 in my neck of the world. Can only get the small batch here. Have you reviewed Joseph Magnus? My personal bourbon even if I have to pay through the nose to get it. Nice review.
Good review and very useful information, Bill. Good to know the BiB is not the one to get. Don't you think a lot of the Brown Foreman products have a similar flavor profile. That might be a good review-- contrasting expression from a company. Buffalo Trace vs. Eagle Rare for example.
Just picked up my first bottle of 1792 Full Proof. This baby is HOT! Actually preferred it with a bit of water so I could taste something beside alcohol. I guess I'm not ready for 125 proof.
I got a barrel pick of the BiB and it was the first time I've ever had 1792. Needless to say I was really disappointed...and it was $40??? Wishing I had just gone with Small Batch for $25... Hoping the BiB will open up over time. Have not seen Full Proof available yet...
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary the extremely common small batch and the limited release higher proof bottle in bond are the same price ? I need to be shopping where you are .🤔🙄
I found a SINGLE BARREL 1792 sitting on a shelf dusty at a small liquor store. It has a white label opposed to the yellow, black, or red. It's listed for $49. The FULL PROOF was also there for $79. Yikes! Have you heard anything about the SiB? Had it? I'm struggling whether I should pick it up or not... HELP!
People keep telling me the single barrel picks are pretty good. $79 is a tough sell though. Id say you have a good chance of it being really tasty if you like 1792s profile
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary thx! I've never had any 1792 so idk what the profile is like except from this video. Btw, just found your channel & loving it so far! Looking forward to binging everything you have made! So is $50 a good price for the SiB? Are they rare? Was it a good find? ... I mean i haven't ever seen it anywhere else in 30+ stores around me...
Hard to say on the price I only know prices near me and what others tell me. $50 sounds like a good price as the three 1792 expressions are in the 30's range. If you've got the cash to burn, go for it. If not I'd suggest getting the small batch, its about $30 and will give you a good idea. Just picture it at a higher ABV
Wow. You found Full Proof for $26. That's a real nice score. I picked up a store pick ($50) and regular ($42). Only cracked open the regular. I agree on the taste. They were bold. On the nose I got banana candy and that banana carried into a banana cream pie.
Kirkland Small Batch whiskey from Costco is distilled by Barton 1792, and is actually not half bad, especially for a budget daily drinker!
Awesome recommendation!
Amazing sweet smell and flavor.
Got the Small Batch and then got a second bottle.
Thanks!

I just bought the 1792' small batch. I love it. I can't find the full proof or BIB. I love your channel. Keep up the great work.
I'm glad you like it!

I was DYING laughing at the water tasting notes!! Watery. Thin.
Ditto

From what I gather, they all have store picks. I didn't

Big fan of what they are doing at 1792, great review as always. Cheers Bill!

I have had the 1792 small batch and thought it was good. Actually I haven't seen the other two in any of the stores I go to.
Lol. Tasting notes. Water: watery, thin. Hahahaaa nice 😂
Wow! Finally a whiskey guy that actually knows what he's talking about. Great content 👌 cheers
Thanks John! Many years of vigorous "study" :)

I made a typo. Later in the video I mention 46 but I know it says 26 on the card. Sorry about that!
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary I just bought 1792 Small Batch at Total Wine in Orange County, CA for $23.99 :)
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it
Thank you sir stay safe
I drink the small batch. It has an extended burn but for the money it's very good in comparison to much more expensive brands.
My man 🔥
8:28 funny... and I never put those two and two 1792 year KY joined Union together. Good trivia I can use to seem smarter next cocktail party!

1792 is not from BF. He was saying that BF sued the original company because of the name (not sure if it was Barton then, but it's Barton now).
I've had several store picks of the BiB and they're fantastic.
It's interesting. I've heard this from several people at this point. Mine wasn't a store pick, and it seems there's a lot of variety in the BiB!
Just picked up my first bottle of 1792 Full Proof. This baby is HOT! Actually preferred it with a bit of water so I could taste something beside alcohol. I guess I'm not ready for 125 proof.

The BiB was a disappointment for me too. Definitely give the small batch a try
Nice Bill 🥃
How were the aroma notes on your water?
Hard to describe. Ethereal
Would love to hear your opinion on Creek Water whiskey
I'll reach out to them. I haven't tried them before
Still prefer the small batch , cheap n good
It sure is good
sipping on a barrel pick of the full proof. tastes like the cherry scented permanent markers smell! but in a better way haha
Show me where I can find bottled in bond for $26 ? It is a limited once a year release and the suggested retail is $40 .
Prices don't change in the video like they do in the real world :)
It was that cheap when I bought it

No marzipan? Not all encompassing then. Lol
Thats disappointing about the bib.
I was surprised about the bib too
I’m surprised you don’t get a banana flavour on the small batch.
I have ran into tha bottled in bond yet
