    Thank you. I've just treated myself to Logic Pro as an update from Garageband, which can't drive external synths, and been befuddled by the mnual for a few days. I followed along and am now delighted to be able to see my minilogue xd being played by Logic! You seem like a teacher at the level I need.

    Thanks. Interesting! I have a different approach when I use my external synth modules. I create a track in Logic Pro for external synths/modules. Then things go similar to your example, but finally I want to make an audio track of the midi track. So I play back the midi track and at the same time record it as an audio track, because this is important for external sounds finally to have them as audio tracks.

    This is great. I've been wanting to see if I could use the Arpeggiator on the external midi track.

    Very informative. I’ve just ordered a Motu micro express. I’d love to see a video on the possible hookup configurations for that in LPX with a usb powered controller (Panorama T6) and your external module! Thanks.

    I had missed this video. Thanks very much Mattias, no problem with external instrument but I'm really looking forward to your video (in your lesson or on youtube) on routing external effects using the I/O plug-in :)
    I still can't get to grips with routing and I don't really understand it, so I go through everything live, but I'd like to be able to use my effects on a Drummers loop, for example. ☺

      Hi Jo. Yeah I’ll be making an episode for routing extrernal fx too, but ya have to be patient.I have a few more other videos in pipe to do. 😄🎸🥁

    Your Logic Pro looks completely different than mine, I could only find the utility option when creating a new project. It doesn’t pop up when you right click the track.

    I'm tying to hook up a Roland S-1, which has MIDI and audio via USB. Whenever I create an instrument track and I play MIDI notes from within Logic, the notes superimpose themselves and have this infinite sustain which creates a mess. Basically a single MIDI note creates a Hold note on the S-1 device. I haven't figured how to prevent this...any ideas?

    Thanks for the vid! At 3:50 when you recorded, why didn’t it record over the midi? Did you do anything special to record just automation?

    • @MattiasHolmgren
      @MattiasHolmgren  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes, i activate ”latch” automation recording. You can switch from read to latch with a simple key command. Transport Record does not have to be active. If latch is on, automation will write as soon as you move fader,

    Thanks for this Mattias. When I have several external midi instruments, i want to play them all simultaneously and hear them on their respective tracks. however if i play e.g. the prophet, it also plays / triggers the other synths i have (e.g. matriarch). There used to be an auto demix option in logic but I don't see it anymore. do you know how to set this up?

    • @MattiasHolmgren
      @MattiasHolmgren  3 месяца назад

      You need to set different midi channels on each individual hardware synth device. Or else they’re probably setup to respond to ”omni” = all channels.

    Where did your midi track magically appear from? I wasn't following it super clearly and then all of a sudden you dragged in a track from nowhere.

      @@MattiasHolmgren I'm connected via USB. Actually I just tried it again and all it needed was a simple unplug and re-plug! 🤦‍♂️
