External hardware synthesiser I have heard some people say you can only do certain functions (would someone tell me which ones please?) with Komplete but the samples I want to use are not within that package. Are you uisng an audio interface between the keyboard and the computer ? Also how do you output the keyword (USB, jack, ...) and how do you input it in the audio interface (if applicable) ?
I have a Native complete control m32 usb keyboard that I use with Logic pro x but have run into a small problem. All the controls such as stop, play etc. work as well as possible, but the loop button does not want to activate loop in Logic pro. It worked before but now it doesn't work at all. The button lights up if I press loop directly on the button in Logic pro but not the other way around. What is the problem?
NI fan here Waiting for black friday to get the S61 Gray. However, do you guys have any timeline when you'll release the next model, maybe the MK3? I mean, its been I think 4 years, and a new model maybe along the way. I'm in no rush to buy now but will there be something coming by next year perhaps? More power to you and Native Instruments!
Hello -- Super new to this and thank you for this video I am learning a lot.. I tried setting up the keyboard just like you did on logic but for some reason the buttons to trigger stop, play, metronome etc don't really work in my DAW. I would just have to control with the mouse which can be a bit less efficient compared to if I could actually get my buttons to run. Is there a step I'm missing to be able to have my komplete kontrol keyboard's buttons to work? Thank you!
is there ANY way to prevent the controller from switching out of MIDI mode? If I do something as simple as selecting a new track it will switch the controller out of MIDI mode. its incredibly frustrating

I loved my M32, but it seems the keys are gradually stopping working (after one year, 3 keys no longer work). As it's no longer under warranty, NI say it would cost me nearly as much to repair 3 keys as buy a new unit. Not good, so probably won't be investing in a NI keyboard again. That's a shame as the functionality is generally good, just not the quality. :(
I'm meticulously doing all you instruct to no avail on logic. At least I get to hear the keyboard, but thats it. Komplete Kontrol S Keyboard has no functionality with Logic. I try and try?

Launch Logic in Rosetta 2 mode, setup an instrument with Komplete Kontrol in Logic ....make sure the host integration functions are working (transport control, mix page etc). Then shutdown Logic and start again in native mode (M1 mode). Now it should retain the full host integration functionality. It works for me at least!
Great video - although feel like I'm failing at quite an early hurdle. At 2 minutes you talk about using the most useful keys (record, stop, play loop etc). These don't work from my keyboard. All the lights are on and I can play notes, but when I go to press record, it lights up red, then the light goes off as soon as I remove my finger. The clicker doesn't start and it then doesn't record. I can do this from Logic by hitting he record button, but it's frustrating me that I can't do it from the keyboard. Any idea what's going on?
Have you guys found the solution for this yet? When I first bought my controller I could control the daw using the buttons on the keyboard, but now they're not working. NI's website says hit Shift and MIDI, but it doesn't do anything for me??!?
damn, i am definitely going to buy this keyboard. I am very impressed with controlling and editing functions. making songs with this keyboard seems next level. what Brain did with logic was so cool
The FIRST instrument in the browser should be "ACTUAL INSTRUMENTS" and it should have ACTUAL INSTRUMENTS instead of 50,000 things in the A section, so you scroll for hours through stuff like "Amniotic Fluid" before you EVER see ANY WORD that describes an INSTRUMENT

Hi! Great video! But I have a PROBLEM. Since the release of Logic Pro 10.7, Logic can no longer find NI KK instruments when I attempt to load them. I've had an SK49 connected and integrated successfully for years, but now the integration doesn't work. When I attempt to load a sound, I get Loading Issue, Plug-in not found. So far I've reinstalled standalone KK on my iMac, scanned all plugins within standalone KK, deleted and reinstalled the KK plugin in Logic, deleted Logic's audio unit cache file and rescanned all plugins (multiple times), restarted the Mac multiple times, all with no success. What did Apple change about KK plugin scanning/location, and how do I fix this? Apple has so far been no help. Thanks in advance!

Massively disappointed with this product. I just bought the S88. There is no true integration within Logic for Kontakt. To even see the highly useful coloured keyswitching on the hardware keyboard, one has to run Kontakt within the Komplete Kontrol plugin inside Logic. This is just another layer of complication that I would never, ever use as a professional film scoring template: it's just too clunky and time-consuming. All this navigation demonstrated is so long-winded and clunky as to be almost pointless, in my professional experience. It's certainly not optimized for the professional film and TV composer, IMO. It seems to be all pop and dance stuff. Also, when initially installing Komplete Kontrol it froze for over six hours(!!) "updating factory character tags", whatever that is. Eventually I had to figure out that I had to reinstall Komplete Kontrol, and even then it failed many of the VST plugins ( no AU scanning at all ??!!) to the point that I actually had to remove them for it to stop going round and round an endless plugin validation. Terrible. Even Logic is better than this and ignores failed plugins, once dismissed. Having said that the hardware is excellent. Love the keyboard action etc. But 90% of the functionality of the knobs only rely of having Komplete Kontrol running in the background. The other transport hardware on the unit I already have on better control surfaces, so would never use it on the keyboard. One cannot operate Kontakt-based third-party libraries in any useful manner without using this awkward Komplete Kontrol plugin. This is just a total waste of time and energy. This could have been a great tool, but instead, it's just another, albeit very well made master keyboard, with hardly any integration with Logic. This is not what I expected. Kompletely underwhelming and, frankly, I wish I'd never bought it. By the way, maybe Mk 3 will address all this, and it would benefit from having a hinged display panel to adjust the viewing angle.
I believe Big Sur operating system damages my komplete kontrol S61 after I load one instrument then load another and go back to it the keyboard stays in midi mode and some of the buttons don’t light up on the keyboard like the mixer and now the play and record buttons don’t work properly please make a firmware update for the komplete S 61 I use Logic Pro x latest version as well
hey im new here with my s88mk 2 ... i just browsed the instrument and i select a plugin in...then i tap 'load'...the keyboard showed 'busy,see software'...and my logic is stop there and not responding..what is this situation ?
I'm running my Komplete Kontrol mk2 61 on Big Sur on my M1 Mac and for reason Logic does not recorgnise it. I have been trying to get the transport buttons to work for ages and they still don't. Help please!
I'm having the same problem. A partial fix is by starting Logic in Rosetta mode so it recognizes the controller (MK2) and then starting it again in regular mode. This is only a partial fix because you still can't view the mixer but it does allow you to Play/Record. Hopefully, NI will send the update soon.

logic pro doesn’t recognise my S49. Have set LP to open in Rosetta and checked firewall access is correct. I only have basic functionality from the keyboard and am unable to use HWare to drive LP.😢
My DAW integration worked great (except the undo button glitch) for a couple of months and now nothing. I've gone through every NI article and forum, deleted prefs, etc., but still can not get the integration to work again. Does anyone have any other suggestions how to fix this known issue?
Want one. BUT. Scared to death to buy one because as my luck would have it, I'll drop $600 on a mk2 that's been out for a long time, and then 3 months later they drop the mk3.
You know.. talking like less of a robot would be nice. You coudl have just put a voice over that sounds more lively than this guy. People like videos from actual people with human voices, it makes us feel relatable. How is this not common knowledge from a company as big as you are? mine automatically lowers the ‘dynamics’ all the way to zero, and there’s literally no function under kontakt in midi that says dynamics. there’s 50 other things tho
Bro, except the sustain pedal just randomly stops working, the customer service has no clue what the problem is, I bought a new one specifically from your list, which randomly works for a few days and then stops again. And yes, I checked everything, not a noob. Instead of showing how magical all of those fancy extras are, how about fixing the most basic thing a midikeyboard should be able to deliver. Fed up with that.
@Native Instruments Will there ever be a “fix” for how the mixer bars flicker? (Example @5:54) It’s so smooth in maschine but in logic it’s flickery and janky looking. Would love to see smooth integration with logic and NI hardware.
An instrument that combines Maschine with a keyboard, kinda like what MPC did with their new keyboard, wouldn’t be a bad idea. I’m a true NI fan, I can easily look past any imperfections & still enjoy all I have to work with. Really digging my newly-upgraded 14 CE. Your sounds are unmatched 🎹
I don't know if this is me being brand new to logic, or a recent update.. but as soon as I have any instrument in there my mixer volume faders for that chanel stop working. They work for all empty Chanels, they don't if there is anything on that chanel. This doesn't seem to be the case here. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help me out? driving me nuts.
Also.. now I see it applies to everything related to a chanel that has something in it. I cannot control the volume, mute, solo etc. It just turns off. I can however do those things with all other unoccupied Chanels.
:In Logic Pro X, when you record some notes on a KK midi track and then you hit Undo button, the browser dissapears and instead you get that "general midi" picture on both screens. Anyone had a problem like this?

Where are the instructions for how to use a Komplete Kontrol M32? I've been all over RUclips and NI's website/community and so far, nothing. How do I launch Komplete Kontrol? Do I launch it within Logic or without? How do I control something other than volume parameters in Logic? It has been a total nightmare so far. Somebody somewhere has to have answers.

This all works fine, but I find that every now and then the transport controls on the S61 stop working for Logic, and just play a random note when pressed instead. Nine times out of ten a reboot fixes it, sometimes I have to delete Logic's preferences and start again. Is it a Logic problem or a Native Instruments problem? I guess I'll never know!
It's a huge workflow improvement. Kind of like when I first started using Maschine many moons ago. Great for getting ideas down fast without really using the mouse much...

It doesn't see the Komplete 88. It just uses it as a regular midi instrument, but does not allow to use the screens and knobs....the whole point of having this controller. Is it because Im using an M1 mac? a year later and this still inst resolved?
Is it true this board doesn't allow you to edit effects within non-Komplete VST's? And that there's four buttons on the surface that are useless unless used with Maschine?

I was thinking about buying this midi controller. Does this support ALL plugins, or just the ones that appear with thumbnails on the left side of Komplete Kontrol, because KK is only showing me graphical thumbnails for like 15% of my plugins -- the rest I have to go to the instruments tab and load them through the top-menu.
Nicely taught class. 13m44sec of video, probably a week of content covered if I was reading this from the manual. If I were to guess, this material took a month to create. While created for the previous generation of equipment, it is still quite useful.
Do I need to do any special mapping to get the Komplete Kontrol keyboard's pitch wheel to work. I'm using one of Logic's plugins and the pitch bend isn't working. Any help would be appreciated.
Does loading Kontakt vs Native Instruments affect the sounds at all when you bounce your project? I’m used to loading Native Instruments when making a piece of music, but I have seen a lot of people open up the Kontakt option instead
It's a bummer that Komplete Kontrol isn't yet a VST3 plugin.(currently 2.4) With VST3 you can resize windows. Imagine this with a resizable window. It is a masterful plugin but it's hobbled by some horrible design choices. Liberate that window!! (and stop hiding so much of the selected plugin controls by default....for example the Kontakt keyboard)
Any Ideas why Logic might not detect my S61 mk2 ? I'm not being asked wether I want to connect my complete control Keyboard. Midi Keys are working fine but none of the control buttons 🤕

But the scale mode it function only with the Komplete suite library, or also with external Vst? Thanks
Scale/chord is a feature of the Komplete Kontrol software so if you want to use it, you need to load an instrument within KK.

Massively disappointed with this product. I just bought the S88. There is no true integration within Logic for Kontakt. To even see the highly useful coloured keyswitching on the hardware keyboard, one has to run Kontakt within the Komplete Kontrol plugin inside Logic. This is just another layer of complication that I would never, ever use as a professional film scoring template: it's just too clunky and time-consuming. All this navigation demonstrated is so long-winded and clunky as to be almost pointless, in my professional experience. It's certainly not optimized for the professional film and TV composer, IMO. It seems to be all pop and dance stuff.
Also, when initially installing Komplete Kontrol it froze for over six hours(!!) "updating factory character tags", whatever that is. Eventually I had to figure out that I had to reinstall Komplete Kontrol, and even then it failed many of the VST plugins ( no AU scanning at all ??!!) to the point that I actually had to remove them for it to stop going round and round an endless plugin validation. Terrible. Even Logic is better than this and ignores failed plugins, once dismissed.
Having said that the hardware is excellent. Love the keyboard action etc. But 90% of the functionality of the knobs only rely of having Komplete Kontrol running in the background. The other transport hardware on the unit I already have on better control surfaces, so would never use it on the keyboard. One cannot operate Kontakt-based third-party libraries in any useful manner without using this awkward Komplete Kontrol plugin. This is just a total waste of time and energy. This could have been a great tool, but instead, it's just another, albeit very well made master keyboard, with hardly any integration with Logic.
This is not what I expected. Kompletely underwhelming and, frankly, I wish I'd never bought it. By the way, maybe Mk 3 will address all this, and it would benefit from having a hinged display panel to adjust the viewing angle.
I believe Big Sur operating system damages my komplete kontrol S61 after I load one instrument then load another and go back to it the keyboard stays in midi mode and some of the buttons don’t light up on the keyboard like the mixer and now the play and record buttons don’t work properly please make a firmware update for the komplete S 61 I use Logic Pro x latest version as well
hey im new here with my s88mk 2 ... i just browsed the instrument and i select a plugin in...then i tap 'load'...the keyboard showed 'busy,see software'...and my logic is stop there and not responding..what is this situation ?
I'm running my Komplete Kontrol mk2 61 on Big Sur on my M1 Mac and for reason Logic does not recorgnise it. I have been trying to get the transport buttons to work for ages and they still don't. Help please!
I'm having the same problem. A partial fix is by starting Logic in Rosetta mode so it recognizes the controller (MK2) and then starting it again in regular mode. This is only a partial fix because you still can't view the mixer but it does allow you to Play/Record. Hopefully, NI will send the update soon.
@@spittss starting it in Rosetta mode completely defeats the purpose of it being native in m1! You waste so much cpu power with that

@@spittss For those having problems with the M1 Macs running Monterey, Logic and Komplete Kontrol S49 Mk2, I seem to have a workaround. Launch Logic in Rosetta 2 mode, setup an instrument with Komplete Kontrol in Logic ....make sure the host integration functions are working (transport control, mix page etc). Then shutdown Logic and start again in native mode (M1 mode). Now it should retain the full host integration functionality. It works for me at least!
My logic doesn't notice I have the Komplete Kontrol S49 attached. Please help. No window pops up asking if I want to connect my S series. Do you have a video for reeeeeally old people who can't get one single thing to work?

My DAW integration worked great (except the undo button glitch) for a couple of months and now nothing. I've gone through every NI article and forum, deleted prefs, etc., but still can not get the integration to work again. Does anyone have any other suggestions how to fix this known issue?
Want one. BUT. Scared to death to buy one because as my luck would have it, I'll drop $600 on a mk2 that's been out for a long time, and then 3 months later they drop the mk3.
Why I can't play with my S61 mk2? Garageband instrument works, native sound not.
You know.. talking like less of a robot would be nice. You coudl have just put a voice over that sounds more lively than this guy. People like videos from actual people with human voices, it makes us feel relatable. How is this not common knowledge from a company as big as you are? Your marketing time should read some books about business before making your next videos. I feel like im listening to a robot read the manual.
Is it normal that logic crashes if I insert komplete kontrol on a Mac Studio M1 Ultra unless I start logic in Rosetta mode ? Isn’t yet native M1-2 fully compatible ?
The truth is that they are very interesting keyboards because of the software they include. But unfortunately it must be mentioned that some keyboards suddenly go out of tune, without having assigned anything inside the controller...

mine automatically lowers the ‘dynamics’ all the way to zero, and there’s literally no function under kontakt in midi that says dynamics. there’s 50 other things tho
Bro, except the sustain pedal just randomly stops working, the customer service has no clue what the problem is, I bought a new one specifically from your list, which randomly works for a few days and then stops again. And yes, I checked everything, not a noob. Instead of showing how magical all of those fancy extras are, how about fixing the most basic thing a midikeyboard should be able to deliver. Fed up with that.

@Native Instruments Will there ever be a “fix” for how the mixer bars flicker? (Example @5:54) It’s so smooth in maschine but in logic it’s flickery and janky looking. Would love to see smooth integration with logic and NI hardware.

An instrument that combines Maschine with a keyboard, kinda like what MPC did with their new keyboard, wouldn’t be a bad idea. I’m a true NI fan, I can easily look past any imperfections & still enjoy all I have to work with. Really digging my newly-upgraded 14 CE. Your sounds are unmatched 🎹

my logic pro dosen't recognize my Komplete. Still trying to figure it out
I don't know if this is me being brand new to logic, or a recent update.. but as soon as I have any instrument in there my mixer volume faders for that chanel stop working. They work for all empty Chanels, they don't if there is anything on that chanel. This doesn't seem to be the case here. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help me out? driving me nuts.
Also.. now I see it applies to everything related to a chanel that has something in it. I cannot control the volume, mute, solo etc. It just turns off. I can however do those things with all other unoccupied Chanels.

:In Logic Pro X, when you record some notes on a KK midi track and then you hit Undo button, the browser dissapears and instead you get that "general midi" picture on both screens. Anyone had a problem like this?

Where are the instructions for how to use a Komplete Kontrol M32? I've been all over RUclips and NI's website/community and so far, nothing. How do I launch Komplete Kontrol? Do I launch it within Logic or without? How do I control something other than volume parameters in Logic? It has been a total nightmare so far. Somebody somewhere has to have answers.

This all works fine, but I find that every now and then the transport controls on the S61 stop working for Logic, and just play a random note when pressed instead. Nine times out of ten a reboot fixes it, sometimes I have to delete Logic's preferences and start again. Is it a Logic problem or a Native Instruments problem? I guess I'll never know!
I think it's time to update my controller to an S series MK2...

I'm trying to figure out how to get my keyboard to sound like an ACTUAL upright/Grand Piano. When I go to, "All Instruments," I click, "Piano/Keys.," "Grand Piano," "The Grand," and it sounds NOTHING like a grand piano. Where am I going wrong?

hello, I checked if it was asked before but I couldn't see it, I have a mk2 s49, all keys and buttons work but only the record button does not light up. It shows up in red in the videos I watch. I wonder if it's because I'm not using the power supply. thanks.
It doesn't see the Komplete 88. It just uses it as a regular midi instrument, but does not allow to use the screens and knobs....the whole point of having this controller. Is it because Im using an M1 mac? a year later and this still inst resolved?

I was thinking about buying this midi controller. Does this support ALL plugins, or just the ones that appear with thumbnails on the left side of Komplete Kontrol, because KK is only showing me graphical thumbnails for like 15% of my plugins -- the rest I have to go to the instruments tab and load them through the top-menu.
Nicely taught class. 13m44sec of video, probably a week of content covered if I was reading this from the manual. If I were to guess, this material took a month to create. While created for the previous generation of equipment, it is still quite useful.
Do I need to do any special mapping to get the Komplete Kontrol keyboard's pitch wheel to work. I'm using one of Logic's plugins and the pitch bend isn't working. Any help would be appreciated.
Does loading Kontakt vs Native Instruments affect the sounds at all when you bounce your project? I’m used to loading Native Instruments when making a piece of music, but I have seen a lot of people open up the Kontakt option instead

It's a bummer that Komplete Kontrol isn't yet a VST3 plugin.(currently 2.4) With VST3 you can resize windows. Imagine this with a resizable window. It is a masterful plugin but it's hobbled by some horrible design choices. Liberate that window!! (and stop hiding so much of the selected plugin controls by default....for example the Kontakt keyboard)
