Having watched this multiple times and trying to replicate those most useful tips, it is INFURIATING that NI have once again updated their stuff so that things appear different to their videos, and that some of those functions just are not there. Komplete Kontrol looks nothing like that on my system. When I try to load instruments, it reports ""Loading Issue. Could not load Plug-in." The paths are all correct. A rescan crashes the program (segmentation fault) -basically an illegal memory access, i.e. a software bug.
Same here, I'm on V3.11 and GUI is totally different, wasted my time searching for a setting to match it with the one in the video. Drag and drop of loops and one shots does not work, which would be very useful, cannot understand why they throw out useful things in new versions. The tutorial itself is great, as you said.

A question about the last chapter setting macros to non NKS instruments. Can you also save custom mappings for one instrument after you already made presets for it? Because I followed your advise for Serum around 37:00. But now I have a lot of presets without the right custom mappings. Following your logic of first saving an init preset with the right custom mappings, you can't edit them after you made the rest of the presets. Or you have to do them one by one again ...
Clear and efficient work despite the English to French subtitles. Your speaking speed allows for proper reading and comprehension. Thank you for this essential clarification. Much more effective than a pdf manual. With Studio One v.6, research is very poor on the part of Native Instruments regarding the integration of KKontrol in detail. We wonder what the reason is. This creates a handicap. But the question is not the main subject of this excellent video.
I was so happy when I discovered this video and thought I could finally dive into Komplete Kontrol. The video is so fantastically done and really motivates you. And then comes the absolute demotivation, because nothing is as it is described in the video and the new interface is an absolute horror compared to the previous version. Why do you have to change a good product like this? Just to create an update?
At 6:05 you can see how ridiculously small the Komplete kontrol window is because you can only see 3 presets and a scrollbar. Seriously NI, make the KK window resizable or at least give it a proper size. This is 2023, nobody is using 800x600 resolution anymore.
As an owner of a NI S88 Mk2 and Komplete Ultimate CE I'd love to use Kontrol, but to echo the point above. The GUI is simply pathetic to work with on a 4k monitor using Cubase in HiDPi mode. Why wouldn't I use HiDPi when I've got a huge 4k screen. A proper scaleable GUI is absolutely critical and makes Kontrol a pointless product at the moment.
In 2023 it's simply unacceptable for any VST instrument to not have a resizable GUI. NI is WAYYYYY behind on this. As you pointed out, you frequently can see no more than a few of the presets that result from you filtering. Many times there are clues to the sound you are looking for in the name, but if you can't see them it forces you to constantly scroll one by one thru presets. I would use KK more if they simply fixed this one HUGE issue...
And a TINY scrollbar at that. Common theme in NI user interfaces. Tiny scrolls that are tedious to quickly select (not to mention pop up with the exit button in the wrong place or just totally absent). I know they are going for a sleek look but often end up being inconvenient to actually use.
There needs to be a way for KK to recognize Light guides from 3rd party libraries for KK keyboards. Currently, there is a way to do it, but it is a ponderous thing to have to go through. There are many, many 3rd party libraries that make intensive use of key switches and it would be a great upgrade for KK to recognize this and implement this automatically.
Will there be any updates for the latest Komplete Kontrol (assuming mk3) ? I feel the latest one with got stripped off a LOT of functionality like custom lightning guides and there are a lot of issues that would probably be solved with a proper tutorial (like Kontakt 7 in Komplete Kontrol does NOT recognite midi learn from a non nks instrument - super frustrating) I am having a lot of struggle using it with my mk2 keyboard.
Hope fully you wonderful guys over at native instruments can do a tutorial on the machine 2 daw a lot of us are new to the maschine ecosystem and don't really know that much about the software and thanks a bunch because all these new masterclasses are really helpful and exactly what us new and old users needed.
@46:56 I couldn't drag and drop the loops from my KK to Cubase 13 Artist like he did in the video. A workaround I found is to right click on the loop inside KK and open folder in explorer and then drag the audio file into Sampler Track of Cubase. I chose sampler track instead of audio track because I can audiowarp it. But just draggin and droping from KK straight into Cubase, like Brian did in the video, would be much better. Any idea why it's not working here? Could it be because my Cubase is Artist (unlikely that's the reason) or because today we are in a newer version of KK, maybe? Thanks.
If anyone remembers acid pro, I used to use that. I decided 25 years ago to only use FL studio. Other DAWs I have absolutely no idea about. I'm sure they're all really good of not better. But spending years learning to use one is far better than trying to learn them all.
The video failed to mention an important step when installing Native Access and before installing any libraries. Once Native Access has been installed it is important to open the Preferences menu and select the location where you want the libraries to be installed. Presumably, you have a hard drive or hard drives to store the libraries on that is separate from the C: drive where the O/S is installed. You will want to select the desired location. The libraries cannot simply be moved after installation, Komplete Kontrol will not know where to find the samples. It is possible to move libraries after the fact if you follow the correct steps within KK, but that requires some knowledge of the procedure. It is a lot simpler and less time consuming to set up Preferences as desired from the start.
@@NativeInstruments you actually answered my question @1:06 time stamp thanks! One question I do have is I’m still in the stone age, running Mojave on my Mac is there a way where I can still install sound packs that native instrument has to offer so I can use them in KOMPLETE KNOTROL?
This video illustrates how good it was to have the browser to the left of the plugin view. I really wish there was a way to switch it back to that layout.
What version are you using in this tutorial? I purchased a few months ago so mine is a likely newer version, but I like this layout better. Also I'm trying to edit user samples, in this case change a sample that is a loop and change the content type to put it into the loop category. There is no "Content Type" available.
I experienced the same while I was organizing my loops and sample libraries. No "Content Type" available to distinguish my loops. A bit annoyed as I spent way too much time trying to resolve the issue. In the end, all my loops are under "One-shot" type with a custom "Sound-Type" loop tag.
So great. Love this. Thank you! Question is I may. At the 51:00 mark, you were editing a loop, pitch, etc. So you had the audio engin open How would you drag that edited loop into your daw? I'm struggling with that.
Software is great, a great idea, but so old school, you know that NI. Want a few examples ? 1. Can't resize the GUI, 2. 8:45 The more filters you select, the fewer presets you see. Makes it hard to scroll through presets. It's not possible to resize that column. 3. You can change volume of previews ... yes, but why not in the User content libraries Tab ? 4. Put a Settings Button on the top of the GUI, there is so much space ... I've noticed much more since I'm using it. Software is not really user-friendly. But my MKII makes it a lot easier at least.
Muito bom tutorial. Pena não estar em português. Mas estou vendo bastante para aprender a usar Komplete Kontrol. Comprei um Komplete Kontrol A61 e quero usar todos os recursos. Parabéns ao tutor e a Native Instruments!
The chord mode is so awesome, however when you record the midi in chord mode, it only records the single note of the key you press on the keyboard. Is there a way that all of the notes in the chord can be pasted into the piano roll for further editing instead of just the note you press on the controller please?
Such a useful video! One question - I can't drag and drop sounds onto my Cubase track like you do many times in this video; I get a red barred circle over the cursor when I try. Is there a setting somewhere to enable this? Thanks.
Hi! We'll need a bit more info in order to pinpoint the root cause. Can you please get in touch with our support team directly? We're available through this form here: bit.ly/n1kontrol
Thank you so much for this very useful tutorial. I've got a question : with the recent version of KK (V3.0.3), I didn't find a simple way to drag and drop a sample into Battery 4 as you explain in this video. The workaround I used was to right click on the sample to find I in the finder (I'm on a iMac), then switch to Battery 4 instrument, and drag and drop the sample into Battery 4. Because basically, with this version of KK, I didn't find the way to have both the browser and the instrument displayed in a same screen. Have I missed anything ? Thank you.
Great video! Is there a way to cycle through 3rd party plugin presets from the Komplete Kontrol Keyboard? The Preset up & down arrow only cycles through User Komplete Kontrol Presets. I'm trying to cycle through stock Serum presets on the fly without clicking my mouse. Don't see a way to map a macro to the 'next preset' button within Serum.
Hi NI, just watched this tutorial and found it incredibly helpful. One of the things I'm noting though is that while using the new interace for Komplete Kontrol that has been released since this video came out, is that when utilizing Battery in KK that there isn't a way to utilize the browser library to drag&drop samples into Battery. Seems like you either have a view of the plugin being utilized or a view of the browser. Am I missing something? I thought it was valuable being able to utilize the browser view to find interesting samples and then drag those directly into Battery, but that doesn't seem possible anymore unless you right+click to see the sample in the browser and then drag it into battery. You also can't drag&drop Loops or One-shots from the library browser directly into the session either. Please let me know if I'm missing something though, would be greatly appreciated! The specific part in the video starts at 54:00
thanks for the helpful content Is it possible to save my loop library settings so that I can later turn it on on another computer, or when reinstalling the system
video of great interst !!! Thx for that .... i just wishes NI would have kept those features, but apparently v3 of KK doesnt allow anymore such flexibilities
i don't know what inspired ni to step up their content game on yt but thank goodness man. i was tired of depending on second hand info (good (and even great) as some were).
Awesome vid :) ! Thanks Native, thanks Brian. One question though, around 44:00 (applying effects on a sound and save it as user preset) : is there any way to save - as user preset - a chain as a "pack" (for example some kind of preset that would include a Native edited instrument + one, two, three edited Waves effects) ? The goal would be to re-open later a very specific sound with the effects already active on it, in one clic, without having to select the components one by one. That would be life changing :) Thank you in advance !
Will Komplete Kontrol ever be able to record the actual MIDI from the scales and chord modes like novation can? Like if you record a triad chord in Komplete Kontrol, you will actually see 3 midi notes there? Also, will you ever make it so we don’t have to change every track when we want scale or chord mode? It’s crazy that there isn’t just one button to press and then every KK track is set to the desired scale.
This is what I wanted to see. Can you edit bank names with nks and non nks instuments and easily recall them on the kontrol s keyboard? Is it easy to quickly switch between different tracks to change the instrument / effect you're controlling and arm (different instances of komplete kontrol)?
Has anyone found a way to pull up a random preset in KK? Is there some script that someone has written that could at least pull up the name of a random preset in the library so that we can start browsing somewhere besides the top?
Randomizing right from the Komplete Kontrol software is not possible at the moment. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We'll make sure to pass it on to the team. 🙏
Please add the option for combining more instruments togheter ? What's the sense of this plugin ? Only adding some effects that its possible without the plugin ?

Thank you.
Super video!!
This is exceptional!
Thanks for the video. When will you update the Kontakt GUI - think the design hasn't changed for years and are komplete outdated ?
Thank you.
The specific part in the video starts at 54:00
Best Komplete Video ever !
Is there a way to get the newly made presets to have previews so you can hear them from the browser as well?
thanks for the helpful content
Is it possible to save my loop library settings so that I can later turn it on on another computer, or when reinstalling the system
video of great interst !!! Thx for that .... i just wishes NI would have kept those features, but apparently v3 of KK doesnt allow anymore such flexibilities
i don't know what inspired ni to step up their content game on yt but thank goodness man. i was tired of depending on second hand info (good (and even great) as some were).
What if you disagree with the filters for the instrument? Can you change the filter tags of any instrument?
Excellent!!! Thank you!!!
Please solve the Pro Tools compatibility issue ! It crashes Pro Tools 😢 Even the last 3.1 version
1:26:00 anyway to see the chord changes? My ear is good, but not that fast.
This is what I wanted to see. Can you edit bank names with nks and non nks instuments and easily recall them on the kontrol s keyboard? Is it easy to quickly switch between different tracks to change the instrument / effect you're controlling and arm (different instances of komplete kontrol)?
Will it do pitch correction with the loops if you change the BPM?
2:55 There is no Komplete Kontrol showing up I can install. Do you know why? I can't find it anywhere else.
Has anyone found a way to pull up a random preset in KK?
Is there some script that someone has written that could at least pull up the name of a random preset in the library so that we can start browsing somewhere besides the top?
Hi, is there a way o randomize presets? I have a lot of sounds and hate that I can’t discover new sounds without scrolling a lot.
Randomizing right from the Komplete Kontrol software is not possible at the moment. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We'll make sure to pass it on to the team. 🙏
@@NativeInstruments. Randomize would be great. But we’ve been asking for YEARS for resizeable GUI too.
Can you save the mappings if you use say an Arturia controller? Or do you have to redo it everytime?
Please add the option for combining more instruments togheter ? What's the sense of this plugin ? Only adding some effects that its possible without the plugin ?
