As someone who has been installing Avionics mods and Garmin upgrades on King Airs, Barons, Bonanzas, Hawkers, and pretty much everything on the Beech line for 15 years, it's great to see someone enjoy the upgrades. Never interacted with customers or Pilots after the installs. EDIT: Forgot to mention that Neal did a great job!

Neal Avionics is the top tier of Avionics installers. They are much more than just an Avionics dealer. Garrett always was an innovator in the avionics industry when it comes to seeing the future of avionics. Ask me how I know. I was the Garmin Southwest Avionics Manager for 24 years and I signed up up Garett Avionics. I could just tell this fellow was something special and he proved that he was. The installations I witnessed were spectacular and his legacy continues. He’s truly an artist. Not many of those folks in this world. I’ve since retired, but it’s really nice to see my special people that are doing it well. Love to see folks that are enjoying the fruits of Garett and Garmin’s hard work.

It is cool but I agree that it’s no substitute for writing down your IFR clearance for read-back. However, it could be very useful for playback of an instruction that you received and confirmed but got distracted and forgot the specifics. Was that new heading 230 or 330? Admittedly it has limited uses but it’s still pretty cool.

Wow. The panel looks absolutely fantastic. So glad you were able to keep the retro look. They did a great job of keeping the look and increasing capabilities and safety. I am a fan of the V tail and love your choices. Also, I appreciate your cockpit management. Thanks for being a great example for everyone including the new crew of upcoming pilots.

As a flight simmer, it is so cool to see you interact with the auto pilot while dealing with ATC. I got excited when I knew what you were doing to enter the info.
Just really cool to see the real life version.
    Blue skies!

I'm a bit late for the show, Stevie, but If your smile could be bottled, you'd never have to work again! My V-35B came with a Century1 autopilot [it was a 1975 vintage], which was basically an altitude hold. I went all out, in 1979 terms, when I did the update. Put a Century III [3 axis] autopilot in, upgraded the stack, put a belly beacon and strobes on. BUT, even with the leaps and bounds better autopilot, the single best improvement was the yaw dampener!! Absolutely put the Bo on rails! I mentioned this feature in one of your early on videos. I am so glad you are now experiencing the thrill of an autopilot with the YD. Tech has greatly surpassed what was offered in 1979, but I still hold with the yaw dampener being the single best upgrade for any v-tailed. Bonanza.
Still in awe of your comfort with your Bo, as well as your communications skill and your exacting preflights and checklist adhering. Keep that up and you'll have no issues.
Wishing you clear skies and smooth air...

Great stuff! I'm just curious as to the estimated cost on an upgrade like this?. I understand there is customization but there would be some consistency with instruments / avionics.

I'm currently in flight school and am looking at budget airplans to buy. How's the bananza, and how hard is it to work on and upgrade. Like if I wanted to add a Garmin touchscreen avionics.

Early model V-tail Bonanzas are a great older aircraft and there's a large and very active owner group which makes finding parts and maintenance help not too difficult. AOPA has a good article on V Tail Bonanzas. As for upgrading them, the difficulty and price can vary a lot depending on the condition of the airplane, what's already in it, and what's being added!
