Gohan completely abandons the fighting lifestyle and did some part-time small villain fight which weakened him... Goten and Trunks... They have potential since they often train for fun as kids but they most likely will just end up like Gohan since the creators only want to focus on Goku. So yeah, while they have stupidly high potential to surpass the full blood Saiyans. Their fickle human minds make them lazy in their training, only in deadly situations do they actually try their best. (For example the Buu saga, which definitely confirmed that Gohan was dead as a main character)

funny thing is: trunks said if he didn't kill both of the androids in the next minute that he'd give an explanation at exactly 5:45, he killed 17 at 6:35 approximately and 18 at 6:05 roughly. he killed both of them in 50 seconds.
I love how Trunks subtly matures and grows in the abridged version. From his optimistic naïvety to a more jaded down to business attitude. He learned from Goku, Gohan and Vegeta, or better said from watching them make mistakes. At the beginning of his journey, he constantly tended towards heroic speeches and appearances, where as now he is much more focused on getting the job done right away. I also love that he's more sassy and has slightly more attitude after dying once. And all that feels like a seamless and natural progression of his character, with none of it feeling forced. Edit: Yo holy shit, I did NOT expect this many people to read this comment.
pretty sure he was to the point right from the start when he crushed Frieza immediately without mercy. He just wasn't strong enough in his timeline to do that.
*casts Raise Dead* I think this is why DBZA and SAOA have stood the test of time where YGOA sort of falters in comparison. They have actual stories and character development beyond just mocking the source material. They made it a truly unique experience. I've seen comments declaring DBZA the best dub of these arcs available and I think that's VERY apt. It's a parody, sure, but especially in the end it evolves into more of a hilarious cover.
Imagine playing a game and you meet the final boss and they are tough as hell, but then you are forced on another questline, and by the time you get back to the final boss you stomp them easy. Oh, that just described Trunk's adventure here. But seriously, I think that game would not get good reviews. DBZA gets all the stars, though.
@@samsonguy10k For Trunks this was the "final boss" so to speak, but during his "main" quest (go back to the past and get strong enough to kill the cyborgs) he accidentally became a semi-major character in an even bigger storyline with present Cell. By the time he came back, he was ridiculously overleveled. Also, I wouldn't really mind. If it was played like here (the hard fight gets all the fanfare and credits, the easy finale is cleaning up and catharsis) it could probably work.

I like that the Imperfect Cell from the original timeline and the Cell from the future timeline are complete opposites. This Cell is new to the whole ambush thing while the old Cell plays his cards really well. Future Cell finds innuendos kinda disturbing (“That came out wrong.) while old Cell loves to creep people out with them. Future Cell knows almost nothing and thus ends on an imperfect note while; old Cell ends on a perfect note and has a ton of experience. Good on TFS for being so subtle and clever about their characters! 🎉

well....still a pretty bad timeline for humanity. the best timeline is actually the one where trunks comes back to kill the androids and is then killed by cell, who takes the time machine. the androids are dead. cell is gone. no strong fighters are left to revive buu. zamasu doesnt meet goku and stays chill. beerus never gets interested in earth. no one gives omni king the idea to hold a universe death match...

I love the fact of him being fairly outclassed by the androids before he time traveled then wen he came back he just washed them completely, it just shows how much his experience changed by training with all those who died trying to fight them
I love this episode a lot because it reveals a lot about Trunk's nature. He doesn't wait for his enemies to power up or escape, he wants to finish them off quickly.
Probably my favorite trait. Trunks is all meat, no filler. He's the one guy on the crew that at least tried to get it done so everyone can clock out. He's efficient down to the last syllable. I admire that.
Seriously, that Trunks can mention cell's name, goal, and "perfect" form. He even specifically said "you already got your way" meaning he saw Cell's perfect form, lived to tell about it, and is currently staring cell down with the level of confidence and self assuredness that all but guarantees precisely ALL shits being fucked up...Cell should be existentially terrified.
I'm really sad that we won't get the Buu saga, but they did such a great job with Freiza and Cell. I've been rewatching a bunch of the episodes even years later.
Honestly? It's for the best. This was never about Goku, this was about Gohan. Goku was meant to die and stay dead forever. The torch was passed. It was supposed to be over at Cell. But they didn't let Toriyama end it there. So he had to cobble something together for Buu. Great work all the same, and I'm sad we won't get to see their rendition of Buu, or most of all Videl and Great Saiyaman, but this is truer to Toroyama's vision, in ways.

I love how Trunks subtly matures and grows in the abridged version. From his optimistic naïvety to a more jaded down to business attitude. He learned from Goku, Gohan and Vegeta, or better said from watching them make mistakes. At the beginning of his journey, he constantly tended towards heroic speeches and appearances, where as now he is much more focused on getting the job done right away. I also love that he's more sassy and has slightly more attitude after dying once. And all that feels like a seamless and natural progression of his character, with none of it feeling forced.

I think this is why DBZA and SAOA have stood the test of time where YGOA sort of falters in comparison. They have actual stories and character development beyond just mocking the source material. They made it a truly unique experience. I've seen comments declaring DBZA the best dub of these arcs available and I think that's VERY apt. It's a parody, sure, but especially in the end it evolves into more of a hilarious cover.

@@samsonguy10k For Trunks this was the "final boss" so to speak, but during his "main" quest (go back to the past and get strong enough to kill the cyborgs) he accidentally became a semi-major character in an even bigger storyline with present Cell. By the time he came back, he was ridiculously overleveled.
Also, I wouldn't really mind. If it was played like here (the hard fight gets all the fanfare and credits, the easy finale is cleaning up and catharsis) it could probably work.

I like that the Imperfect Cell from the original timeline and the Cell from the future timeline are complete opposites. This Cell is new to the whole ambush thing while the old Cell plays his cards really well. Future Cell finds innuendos kinda disturbing (“That came out wrong.) while old Cell loves to creep people out with them. Future Cell knows almost nothing and thus ends on an imperfect note while; old Cell ends on a perfect note and has a ton of experience. Good on TFS for being so subtle and clever about their characters! 🎉

Honestly? It's for the best. This was never about Goku, this was about Gohan. Goku was meant to die and stay dead forever. The torch was passed. It was supposed to be over at Cell. But they didn't let Toriyama end it there. So he had to cobble something together for Buu. Great work all the same, and I'm sad we won't get to see their rendition of Buu, or most of all Videl and Great Saiyaman, but this is truer to Toroyama's vision, in ways.
@@zehkiel8018 well technically it was supposed to end after Freeza. Then it got continued to Cell. Then to Buu. Now super is a mid-story between the fight between Buu and the final episodes of Z.

@@blackrapier713 pretty sure Cell was supposed to be the last thing. Never seen anything saying Freeza/Frieza was supposed to be the last, but have seen multiple things showing Toriyama saying how Cell was supposed to be the last
