I have been taking lexapro since 2006. I had the same thoughts as you and struggled with anxiety and panic attacks. I can’t say I haven’t had an anxiety attack since taking them but it has helped me tremendously. I’m so happy people are starting to discuss mental health because I use to feel so ashamed of feeling this way and taking meds. Mental health is very important and I have come to realize that there is no shame in taking medication if it is helping to keep me ❤ best wishes

Hi Dulce! I am 28 year old woman and I started watching your videos maybe like in 2009 or 2010, when I was a young teen. I loved your fashion videos and you were like my online big sister that I didn't have, giving life advice and just being a comforting presence in my life. My mental health has plummeted recently too and I just started therapy and considering medication, but I've been afraid of it. I still check in with you once and a while and had this video recommended to me at the perfect time. One of the hardest parts of my anxiety, depression, and OCD is feeling ashamed and keeping it to myself so it's honestly so comforting to have you talk through your experience openly, especially as someone I've looked up to since I was a little girl. Thanks for being honest and real since day one!

Trust me, I have been procastinating and putting it off for atleast 4 years. I finally bit the bullet after realising that just seeing a therapist and employing CBT techniques wasn't enough. After 1 week of Lexapro or Ecitalopram, it has slowed my thinking, it has cut out all the silly earworm negative voices in my head, over thinking, analysing every detail. I just do. I was scared of feeling really anxious, getting worse before I get better, but it hasn't happenned.

I appreciate you sharing your experience! Several years ago I decided to start taking Lexapro and ended up taking it consistently for about 2 years. I don't recommend taking it for an extended period. I felt literally the same way you described here and how you were relieved to feel 'nothing'. At first, it was positive, but eventually, this became a negative thing. Lexapro brought my libido down VERY low. I lost myself and my personality and eventually lost the motivation to do much. I would sleep wayyy too much and struggled to get out of bed. Overall, I think it's a great treatment for a short period, but I encourage you to try taking a break from it eventually. It was tough to come off of it but I'm really glad I decided to. ❤️

Took mine 3 days ago… I was terrified to take it, I still don’t feel anything positive but because of taking alprazolam together I am a bit more calm and relaxed with no panic attacks. But as soon the xanax effect ends I still get chest pain, burning feeling, I am tense and even more depressed than before, a feeling like I could cry for not even thinking of anything. (All my life I was a sensitive person and cried easily anyway) but It gets overwhelming back quick as soon as I start feeling physical things. I was found with sinus tachycardia recently. And when I take these meds my BPM drops immediately from a constant 115 to 60-75…

I've been watching your videos since you had your beauty room in your closet. I remember seeing you on Seventeen magazine the first time. You were the big sister I never had but always needed. Seeing your videos about metal health and self improvement are motivating because I feel like they relate so much at the stage of life I'm in. I've been following your videos on medication, journaling, making time for myself because I too have been struggling mentally for years, and haven't been wanting to be on medication. I've wanted a natural way to heal myself, and I've comes to terms that I need medication to help the chemical imbalances in my brain.

I already feel like a new person. My husband said I seem so much calmer and happier. I read an extremely low percentage feels the effects right away, so maybe we are in that low percentage. Everyday, all day I suffer from extreme anxiety, panic attacks, and depression wanting to die. I can’t believe how much different I feel. I really hope it just gets better from now.

Their cancer diagnosis as well as mind was not due to taking care of themselves or hereditary either quite the opposite. It is easy for people to judge but traumatic events, chronic illnesses, chemical imbalances etc …. are real and ignoring the symptoms is far worst. Medication is not an easy option or a way out, but a careful option that one needs to weight their options. As she mention she is 📓, eating healthy, attending church and 🧘‍♀️. All of these things are great strategies as well. I wish you all the best Dulce and thank you for sharing.

As an artist, it's my nightmare to "feel nothing". It would be a loss of identity (and it's my income source). That being said, I need to make some deep changes which is why I'm considering Lexapro in the first place. I was prescribed It 2 months ago and I still haven't touched it because I'm afraid of what it might do to my brain chemistry.
We are meant to feel in this world, just like your father said. I'm glad that you stopped yourself from listening to harmful thoughts, but also hope you stay true to yourself and what you want from life/need to give the world. Because if you don't, I think that's where these creeping thoughts come from. We cannot hide who we are / what we desire without expecting pushback/tension/imbalance.
Thank you so much for sharing your testimony. I've been looking for an open and intelligent review of someone's experience. I related to a lot of what you said and I'm curious what your thoughts are a year later. Wish you well.

I started taking Zoloft right before the pandemic hit. I didn't notice a huge difference, but I think it may have helped me to get through the pandemic better than if I hadn't started taking anything. As far as day to day functioning, I did not see a benefit to taking it. My doctor upped the dose a few times, but I decided to get off of it altogether because I wasn't seeing an improvement, and I felt like it lowered my libido. I was then prescribed Lexapro, but never actually started taking it. Now I am waiting to get a full neuropsych evaluation to see what the root cause of my issues are, and how to go about addressing them.

Thank you so much for sharing your story it’s so crazy that I’m on the same journey I’ve watched you for years ever since I was young I’m about to be 26 I’m a mom of almost a four year old boy and almost 4 years later I’m still struggling with depression and anxiety I first started with sertraline and now I’m on Lexapro for a couple months and I think I’m finally gonna take a break from it because it’s lowered my sex drive tremendously and I feel like it’s affecting my marriage and more than I’m only 25 I really hope that I know it’s gonna be hard to get off of it I really hope it makes a change in my life keep us updated on your story❤

I am really happy for you that you are feeling better. You radiate so much joy and satisfaction :)I am also inspired by your confidence.
I have one question to you concerning this topic..maybe you can find the time to answer. If not, that is also okay.
In this video you say that you wished you had been using Lexapro in your teenage years. So my question would be: How do you think about Lexapro in terms of pregnancy? Personally, Lexapro has helped me a lot in the past but I quit it because I am dreading that it will have an effect in the future if I want to have children. On the other hand though, I am feeling much better with the medication.
Are you personally planning to have more children in the future despite taking Lexapro? Hopefully this in not too personal.
    Warm wishes from Germany 🇩🇪

Im from Germany, and pretty much all the reviews are horrible. We are so keen on „you have to manage that all by yourself“ and the reviews from especially Americans are so different. They highlight pros and cons and I love that. So glad I only watch these. I’m HSP too and I really need to try lexapro. Tried Zoloft but gave me bad stomach issues. So fingers crossed it helps me the way it helped you :)

I think my boyfriend needs lexapro. He is triggered by everything from someone chewing to a piece of paper on the floor. I try to just avoid him and he’ll come looking for me to confront me. If I try to talk to him about it he just turns it around on me and it starts an argument. I’m glad you got help and your family is feeling relief in your change. ❤❤❤

I’ve been given Lexapro and within the 3 days of taking it I was soooo sleepy… mind you I have 3 kids years 4,2, and a 2 mo old. They need my full time attention so I decided to give up taking it BUT I wish I would have pushed through to see the positives that this would do for me. I might just give it another try and push through because I relate on so much on how my emotions effect my household.

I fear of taking meds fear and I’ve been trying to fight this for years on my own and therapy when I can afford it. Right now I show case to my family like yes everything is fine I tell me self everything is fine and then deep deep deep Inside it’s like I’m fighting some mean energy that wants to take over and it’s like I push it away like no your not going to make me feel this way. And my fiancé and my kids both boys just like you one 8 and 2 years old 😊 they all are like omg mommy is happier. And all I can do is like tell myself we going to get through this it’s all in your head but I feel the more I show case a happy life that I might snap and that’s what’s scary. I hope everything works out for you dulce. I know the world might tell you how beautiful and inspiring you are but no matter what we have to believe it we have to feel it and that’s the biggest battle xo wishing u the best

don’t be ashamed to be on meds. we don’t shame diabetics for taking insulin. if our body is unable to produce a chemical it needs we supplement with meds. Its the same thing.

If the medication works fine for her that’s good but just wanted to shared if you have a MTFHR gene this is very dangerous to take because it makes you feel suicidal. This was my expirence and also found out my body has a hard time metabolizing heavy metals which was creating these extreme mental health problems.
