- I was lucky enough to Have Johnny Ciardullo, Vocalist for Carcosa and guitarist for Angelmaker, sit down with me for my reaction and vocal analysis for the new single, Vermin! Carcosa's music just hits different, and Vermin has amazing contrasting elements throughout. Piercing staccato high screams lead into huge choruses, and crushing riffs offset pockets of more open songwriting. Hang out with us while I react to Carcosa's new track, "vermin"! Carcosa are so fucking sick, glad you got Johnny on the show for this one. Dude is the real deal and it's ridiculously obvious how much work he's put into his vocals, especially if you just scroll through the past 4 or so years of his videos and his features on Andrew's channel.

Rarely see my mate these days since he moved away. But every time I go visit, we always fire on the HEAVIEST tracks we can think of. Carcosa is one of the first go-to bands we fire on hahah.

holy cow you live in az?! me too! ive wanted to take lessons from you for awhile now, in fact, all of these videos with the vocalists are how ive finally been able to find the base tone for my lows, something ive been trying to do for years lol. ive made more progress in the last handful of months than i have since i started trying to do vocals. now that i know youre in my state im definitely going to take some classes!

I got to say the ads were really annoying during this video. Every time you would play the song it would cut to two different ads LOL. Not that it's anything you can control. RUclips was just being pretty trolly is all.
They named their band after one of the most obscure but influential horror references (Ambrose Bierce and Robert Chambers)? That's so cool. That's great melodic but hardcore anyways. Like the most recent Slaughter to Prevail stuff but completely different.
its a good name but VERY well known thanks to true detective s1, which came out the same year they formed. was like the biggest show on tv that year aside from maybe game of thrones.

@@nathancail7939 I grew up in Penticton where I’m originally from and as a kid there was like no metal at all until I moved to Vancouver haha There’s a great community there now like in Kelowna and Vernon which is great because I wish I had that!

Not hate at all here, but why everybody mention Dickie Allen like kind of a pioneer on Death Metal noises and again I LOVE Dickie but I heard crazy vocal stuff years before him.
He’s a pioneer for his own time, as he was influenced by guys like Travis Ryan he is now that vocalists for kids aspiring to sound like Dickie. Is a domino affect y’know what I mean?
@@johnnygotgrowls Hey, you're the guy!! Yeah hahah I just tried to start a discussion here but you're the only one haha.. Zimmers Hole vocalist used to do some sort of that too.... Wish you the best in the horizon for you and the band
Because Dickie has a really unique voice. He just does fry for his lows, but he doesn’t do it like everyone else does; his style is much more relaxed than someone like Dan Watson for example. And his highs have a special quality to them as well that I think comes from what he has said about his falsetto voice and resonance. So it’s not necessarily that Dickie is doing anything mind blowingly new (though he did seem to increase the general popularity of tunnel highs), but he just does basic things incredibly well and then adds some flavoring on top.
As someone who is relatively new to metal and metal vocals, I can personally say that he was one of my biggest inspirations and is still one of my favorite vocalists.
