Back to the Future Part II reaction is up next!
Nice.
Finally, she'll see the shoes she heard so much about!
cool its been a month since part 1 and its about time
Great Scott! :)
Subjective Goals are Smart...
Crying *less* doesn't mean not crying. :)
Norman had a rich career in show business after City Slickers, even after he grew up to weigh 1,200 pounds, and commanded a salary of $750 per day for his film and television appearances. He lived to be over 20 years old, and spent his golden years in retirement on a ranch near the Grand Canyon.
Love this movie. “Helllllooooo” “Same day” and “One thing” are lines that have stayed with me for decades.
Jack Palace was nominated for the Oscar three times for Supporting Actor. The first time in Sudden Fear in 1952, then Shane the following year. The third time was for this movie, and he won in 1991.
And when he went to collect the Oscar, he did some one-armed push-ups on stage! He was 72 at the time...
Supposedly this was offered to Clint Eastwood first but he turned it down.
This movie was a HUGE hit when it came out. And even fanned the flames of popularity for dude ranches.
Bruno Kirby and Billy Crystal have amazing chemistry in this and When Harry Met Sally (which is absolutely worth reacting to if you haven't seen it yet).
When Harry Met Sally is a comfort movie of mine! that’s where my love of Billy Crystal began 🖤
When Harry Met Sally is one of my faves. So many quotable lines. I'd forgotten how good this movie is too.
Harry Burns: There are two kinds of women: high maintenance and low maintenance.
Sally Albright: Which one am I?
Harry Burns: You're the worst kind; you're high maintenance but you think you're low maintenance.
Sally Albright: I don't see that.
Harry Burns: You don't see that? Waiter, I'll begin with a house salad, but I don't want the regular dressing. I'll have the balsamic vinegar and oil, but on the side. And then the salmon with the mustard sauce, but I want the mustard sauce on the side. "On the side" is a very big thing for you.
Sally Albright: Well, I just want it the way I want it.
Harry Burns: I know; high maintenance.
Fun fact, that lady from the store that Phil knocked up is Yeardley Smith who does the voice of Lisa Simpsons on The Simpsons.
...who was also in another movie with Helen Slater, THE LEGEND OF BILLY JEAN.
In 1991, Billy Crystal closed out the Academy Awards by promoting this movie. He had a "valet" come out on stage, leading a horse. He tipped the valet, shouted the movie's opening date, and followed it up with, "There's a billion people watching. What am I, nuts?" Then he rode off, the valet, (probably an professional animal handler), leading the way. 😊
And the next year, when accepting the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, Jack Palance did a 1-arm push-up on stage!
@@firstenforemost
After that, through the rest of the show Billy saying what feats of strength Jack was doing and every time in was more incredible then the previous. It was quite funny. One of better AA.
Crystal was definitely one the more brilliant people to host the Oscars. Just the openings alone. Dude knew (and knows) how to entertain.
I vividly remember this. He started the show by pointing a remote off stage, and you heard the car alarm bleep. In the end, when the horse came out, he pointed his remote at the horse, and made the horse bleep.

20:18 It's Curly's hat 🤠
wait oh my god 😭😭😭
@@hellonikkiluHappy to help, cowpokes! 😁
OH SHIT!!!!!!!!!! I've seen this movie a hundred times and I never put that together!!!!
@BigLousClubhouse Yeah, when they bury Curly, Mitch picks up his coat and hat. It's a small detail, but I didn't think people would miss it.
This is one of the better '90s comedies. I'm so glad you picked this one. Nobody ever reacts to this movie it seems.
Billy Crystal loved his horse so much, he bought it!
If I remember correctly, Jamie Foxx actually used his own horse and showed the tricks it could do, in the movie Django. Just a bit of trivia....
and then he ate it 😢
My wife and I saw this in the theater. We have used "we'll jump off that bridge when we get to it" ever since
I use that line all the time. I’d forgotten it was from this movie.
hellooooooooooooooo
I still think Jack Palance has the best tough guy line ever with "I crap bigger than you."
My gut-reaction would have gotten me killed:
"Wow... you must really be full of shit, then?"
City Slickers 2 is great with the addition of Jon Lovitz, oh man I can't wait for y'all to see. We love Norman too.
I figure, milk the cow.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Loved this reaction! I forgot how much I loved this movie. In case you haven't heard this in a while, I really like the angle of the camera for these reactions. It's just like sitting next to your buddy and watching their reaction when it's in profile like that.
"Same day". The look on his face and riding out of frame gets me every time
City slickers 2 is a really fun movie too, you should definitely put that on the list.
so i figure, milk the cow. so i reach down there and i'm pulling and tugging and tugging and pulling. nothing, not a drop!
@@hafeya "The cows name is Norman". First time i heard that joke. They jacked it up in Kingpin and couple of other movies.
I love that she keeps mentioning the score!! It's sensational! 😄
The tune the guys are da-da-da-da to at the end as they finish hearding the cattle back was the theme to a very famous western TV show called Bonanza (1957 - 1973 for 14 Seasons)
It took me way too long to figure out that you meant music score and not like some game score, lol.
26:34 my nephew fostered a calf and now takes care of a 2000 lb heifer. The actor who played Ed was in Good Morning Vietnam with Robin Williams. If you haven’t seen it it’s definitely worth checking out
oh yes.....
The actor who played the ranch owner was also in Good Morning Vietnam. He played the general.
Congratulation on being one of the very few people to react to this great comedy! City Slickers 2 is also very funny. Another great western comedy is "Maverick" starring Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster, James Garner and Alfred Molina. Based on the 1960s tv series where James Garner played the title role.
Billy Crystal was on a roll in the 80s and 90s. Already an established stand-up comedian, writer and comedic actor, he appeared on 1 season of Saturday Night Live along with a few other hired guns (Martin Short, Harry Shearer, Christopher Guest) to save it from the ashes. In '85 he had a very well received comedy special and comedy album "Mahvelous". In '86 he would star in buddy-cop action/comedy with Gregory Hines "Running Scared", and he took off from there: Princess Bride, Throw Mama From The Train, When Harry Met Sally, City Slickers, Forget Paris, Analyze This!, Monsters Inc, and hosted the Grammys 3 times and hosted the Oscars and record number 7 times!!
Your reaction to Norman was hilarious. As someone who worked on farms, I have to say, Norman was my favorite character. Getting young cattle like that to cooperate is not always an easy job.
The score for this movie has NO RIGHT being as good as it is!!! This whole movie is just FANTASTIC... so thrilled you enjoyed it!!! ... also the song they were singing as they were bringing in the herd at the end was the theme to Bonanza, an old TV show about Cowboys
Nikki tearing up at any tender moment is so sweet.
This showed up on my Recently Uploaded feed, and is the first time I've watched any of your reactions. I then binged most of your reactions, and absolutely love the manner in which you film and edit them. I've enjoyed each one that I have so far watched. It's a very fun way of doing it, almost like we're all sitting around your living room watching the movie..... and I'm presuming that's your husband who you're always bouncing your thoughts off of, and manage to crack up throughout, but it makes for a very entertaining way of doing it without breaking the 4th wall. I'm a fan.
I like how the guy she;s watching with seems to have already seem most, if not all, of the movies she's reacting to. It makes it feel like he's one of us, in the comments, who mostly also have seen these movies before and get to enjoy Nikki's reactions, too.
Can't wait for more reactions. You have a perfect format by truly reacting to the movie while not commenting to us or performing to the camera.
Billy Crystal's line at the end when his friend says hes gonna go home and get his wife pregnant. "I hope I can help!" Lol. I'm a dairy farmer. The majority of my animals are Jerseys (which is what Norman is) One of the ironies of the movie that country people catch is a baby Jersey being born from a beef breed cow. Jerseys are notoriously friendly, and adorable, so it was kinda a given to have one as the rescue calf. Most of mine are spoiled rotten.
Everyone should have/needs a Norman
I had a Norman for 13 years…black and white cow-patterned kitty so the name was easy. He reached roughly the size of a small cow 😂❤
The movie, Deliverance, so many famous lines and jokes and meme lines from that movie! It's a must watch!
Yeah, in its own hillbilly way, its a lot like the film Seven...
Another great Billy Crystal movie is Throw Mama For The Train
Or if ur up for a " buddy cop " kinda romp Running Scared is another...
I can't emphasize enough how pleased I am to see that you have uploaded a reaction.
Please keep making these videos as much as possible because your genuine reactions are a pleasure. Feels like watching with friends
I remember watching this movie as a kid thinking who would actually pay money to do that? Now I’d give anything to do that.
After we saw this film as kids, the (all male) elders of my maternal cousins set (of which I was second oldest) would torture the (all female) younger cousins by referring to McDonald's as McNorman's. We were such little shits.
Never noticed till now, but Billy's daughter Lindsay is gorgeous.
Great reaction. This movie was so more than just a comedy as you found out. I was lucky to see it at the theater in 1991. The whole audience clapped at the end. It was awesome.
One of my favorites. Sequel is great too.
12:00 Deliverance is a 70s movie that you should definitely react to! It stars Burt Reynolds. And Billy Crystal's reference to it indicates that he thinks the situation he is about to be in is VERY bad. No spoilers, but there are MANY references to that movie in pop culture. Hint: banjos are involved.
The actor who played the hillbilly rapist (Bill McKinney) in Deliverance is in the sequel.
If you hear banjos, paddle faster! ;)
I've yelled out "I'm on vacation!" on EVERY vacation since I saw this as a kid lol
The reference to Deliverance (the movie) is about a trip out in the woods with buddies that goes horribly wrong.
Thanks for watching this one. I think this is Billy Crystal's best movie. I saw him doing stand up and he had everyone in stitches.
Rob Reiner (the director) kept ruining takes in The Princess Bride from laughing, because Billy Crystal would ad-lib his lines so much.
Welcome back! We missed you guys!
Most 80s comedies had a heartfelt moment in them. In the 90s and 2000s that basically stopped and all we had were goofball comedy.
If you like Billy Crystal, watch Running Scared (1986) with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines. [The 2006 movie is with Paul Walker, same name completely different movie but also great] Great buddy cop movie. Also go watch some John Candy comedies! He always plays a lovable loser type of guy but he was so damn funny!!! Summer Rental (1985), The Great Outdoors (1988), and Uncle Buck (1989).
Another good John Candy film set around the Thanksgiving holiday where he stars alongside comedic actor Steve Martin is “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles “.
@jcg1576 I would have mentioned that but I think they have a reaction for it already.
@@jasonondik6003 Thanks for the info. I wasn’t sure if they had reacted to it or seen it yet.
@@jasonondik6003 I just checked, and no, Nikki has NOT reacted to "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" yet. But, she should, since it's an amazing movie!
@@MatthewTheWanderer sweet! Add it to the list!!
Nikki, have you seen "Running Scared?" Action comedy with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines. Now, I want to watch that movie again.
I like that one. Great buddy-cop movie. Of course, not as good as Lethal Weapon that came out the following year, but I'm partial to it because it was filmed in Chicago- my hometown.
Pretty much a family-friendly remake of the darker "The Cowboys" (1972) and seemed to foresee the "adventure" vacationing surge that began about a decade later.
0:01/Nikki Lu, baby girl...I love 😍 your face at the start of the introduction!! 😂 😂
Great reaction. You should definitely watch what happened when Jack Palance accepted the Oscar for this film.
Ive rewatched your gasp and cry for joy at Norman at the end, like 10 times. It just makes my heart soar
Top 10 comedy of the 90's
I watched this movie years ago right after it came out, and to this day I still say Helloooo all the time.
Dude I saw this movie as a kid on at giant drive in theater…… and I loved it …….. but I don’t remember having as much fun as I did in THIS REACTION !!!!
Well done pretty lady !!!
Hard to imagine that was Jake Gyllenhaal as Billy Crystal’s son in the movie.
Love your reaction. Can’t wait to see how you’ll react to BTTF Part II.
I was looking to see if anyone else noticed that was Jake Gyllenhaal before I made a similar comment! Kind of like how a young Elijah Wood has a cameo in BTTF II.
This is, mostly, a re-make of The Cowboys with John Wayne from 1972. That is also a great movie to watch. Of course, it too will make you cry.
I love how emotional you get to these movies. Don't ever change.
And yet another great reaction video from Nikki Lou. Has she seen Legend? Has Tom Cruise, Tim Curry. But Has to be the version with Tangerine Dream doing the music. And not Jerry Goldsmith orchestra
I remember watching this movie back in the early 1990s and we rented it on vhs 📼 and we did the same thing when part 2 came out. 😊
This movie is soooo underrated... part 2 as well
I've grown to hate that word, but yes they are!!!
Nikki you have such a big heart, you are adorable. I'm sure Norman the calf loves you. The great Jack Palance was Wonderful in this movie.
“Maybe it’s just me … What did you call it ?”😂
Just recently subscribed to y’all after back to the future. So looking forward to the sequels to that and city slickers 2!!!!
PLEASE have her watch City Slickers 2!!! You have to!! 😄
This is the first reaction of yours I’ve watched. Great introduction. I’m going to check The Princess Bride now. 👍🏾
I love that the soundtrack is getting appreciation here. It's such fantastic music!!
I'd forgotten how great this movie was. Thanks! And sometimes movies are for crying!
"If hate were people, I'd be CHINA!" gets me every time
You might add Deliverance (that Billy Crystal's character referenced) to your long list.
judging by Joey’s sinister laugh after that line, I’m scared 😅
@@hellonikkiluHeh heh heh... You should be 😱
4 buddies out in the wilderness, learning about themselves, but otherwise pretty much the opposite of City Slickers in tone/mood. If there are some scary bits, I found it more like a tragedy overall. Keep up the good work! @@hellonikkilu
In 1992 my mom did home daycare, I had the chance to watch this movie on TV with my mom and a girl 2 years old than me. I was 7 and she was 9. I didn't realize till I was older that I had a crush on her.
I regret not being smart or emotionally mature enough to watch this with them because I thought it would be boring or a movie for "old people".
For your frame of reference, Deliverance is a movie about a group of friends who go river canoeing in Appalachia and are attacked and hunted by a family of mountain folk.
This was great seeing again, I am into western movies as a re-enactor of the west. Now you did city slickers 1 now do part 2, also on western comedy do Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles. Little tidbit, after movie filmed Billy was gifted that horse he rode in movie.
I wish they’d have made a third movie with Billy Crystal taking Jake Gyllenhaal on a cattle drive to reconnect and bond with his now grownup son (Daniel Stern obviously comes along too).
I love this movie!! Thank you so much for reacting to it. 😊
The cows can most certainly program the VCR. 😉
The look on your face when he said there was a sequel was priceless...
Truly great reaction. I enjoy this channel so much. I'm all in for the dude ranch trip.
Least known bit of trivia about this movie: The ranch owner is an actor named Noble Willingham, with his very distinctive voice. He is also in The Last Picture Show from 1971 as the guy who holds the down markers at football games. The movie showing at the time, the titular picture show, is Red River - the movie containing the so-called "YEE-HAW" scene which happens to be on screen while the characters are in the theater. Mind Blown!!
p.s. - Just discovered you. Popcorn in Bed was my favorite; now you're my favorite. :)
Deliverance was a 1972 movie about four guys that take a river rafting/ fishing trip (I don’t remember which and I’m too lazy to look it up) to Appalachia. Things…go sideways. But, hey! It’s worth it just to see the original DUELING BANJOS!!! (Seriously. It’s good music).
FUN FACTS:
1. Jack Palance won an Oscar for this role in this. When he accepted his Oscar he did one handed pushups on stage.
2. This is regarding the dentist stuff. Back in the old west, since there was a need for medical personnel, that ANYONE with the title of Doctor was the town doctor. So, the Jessups treating Cookie would've been in line with the old west. (BTW, the old Jessup is the cop from Clue).
3. The checkout girl Phil had an affair with is Yeardley Smith, the voice of Lisa Simpson.
And of course Phil's new girlfriend is... Supergirl.
@@Hiraghm WAIT WHAT?!
The woman who claimed to be "20" that Daniel Stern's character knocked up, was actually 28 in real life (at the time), and is better known as the voice of Lisa Simpson (Yeardley Smith).
I like to imagine this is Daniel Stern´s life before he turned into a wet bandit
And also a sticky bandit 😂😂
Nikki: 😭“The score is really magical!”
Me: laughing and tearing up at the same time, lol.
“Who would do this?” “Me”
That facial reaction 😂 like “this bitch” 😂
Favorite of mine...Pesci is magic in the sequel!
wow your reaction was killing me im dying here at how many emotions you went through and over a calf going from ewwwww to awwwwww so cute so fast so happy you loved it and i think you will cry more and i cant wait
Yes! I love seeing people react to this movie. It's one of the few movies my mom absolutely loved that I also enjoyed completely. I've only ever seen the whole thing once, but it's never really left me. The sequel is also absolutely worth a watch. I don't know if I'd say it's better than this one, but it's equal to it, at least.
I totally forgot there's a baby Jake Gyllenhaal in this!
And Jack Palance is absolutely wonderful in this movie.
Watch Deliverance. Classic movie.
That was so enjoyable. I love that movie. Thanks for sharing!!!
hellonikkilu fun fact The Popping of the Shoulder isn't actually what got Jake the Role...it was actually Billy Crystal being over at Jake's Parents house for Dinner Since Jake's Mother is in the Movie Business as a Writer...and it was when the dinner had ended and Billy was getting ready to leave when Jake offered Billy a Chair to take home as a Party Favor and that got Billy to not just Laugh but also say to Jake and His Parents to bring Jake in to audition for the role of playing His Son for a upcoming movie which was City Slickers and that is irony at it's finest Jake offers Billy a Chair and then Billy offers Jake a Actors Chair.
I loved this movie as a kid and it's even better as an adult! Find your smile is such a good line.
Nice! Another great video! I actually thought I'd seen this one before but I was thinking of the sequel. I watched it quite a few times growing up. ^_^
What's your one thing?
Nikki: Rah!
The argument over Phil not understanding recording on VCR is so classic.
That was us trying to explain it to my mother and giving up so when we watched this we had to pause and cry laughing for a few. “Oh my god, That’s you!”
VCRs... answering machines....
This is such a good movie! And so underrated
I forgot how much I loved this movie! Thanks for the reaction! Part 2 is OKAY, but nowhere near as magical as this one. Much of the cast returns for the sequel, but Bruno Kirby (Ed) opted out because at the time of filming, there was apparently bad blood between him and Billy Crystal...
I sure hope they patched things up before Kirby died (RIP Bruno Kirby)
At least on the TV Tropes page, it's indicated that Kirby opted out because he was allergic to horses and required constant injections while filming the first one. I hope that was more the case.
And agreed, gone too soon ❤
That was an absolute joy to watch. Keep it up.
After watching that now I want a baby cow and call it Norman 😂
To this day, I still say Helllooooo, el doctor and my favorite, I hate you more! If hate were people I'd be China 😂😂
So glad I found this channel! This movie was a family favorite when I was younger and I still love it. Are you taking suggestions?
Thank you Sis❤ Wonderful reaction
Great reaction, as always.Thanks.
That looks so comfortable.
Part 2 is good also and they are both in, When Harry met Sally! But he and Danny DeVito in, throw momma from the train!!! Pro tip... they're thinking of a sequel 😮
A bit of trivia:
Bruno Kirby (Ed) was strongly allergic to horses 🐴 and needed daily allergy shots.
This was also a major reason why he didn't return for the sequel. Also, he asked for script changes (probably due to the allergy problem), so I'm guessing studio found it too troublesome to get Kirby back for the sequel.
Another heartwarming comedy would be "Full Monty"
Pregnant girl is Lisa Simpson😮. His son is Jake Gyllenhaal😮. Daniel Stern in the home alone movies! His best friend was in good morning Vietnam, godfather 2 as Clemenza, the riot movie When Harry met Sally, and the funniest parody movie about Vito Corleone and Clemenza, with Matthew Broderick called The Freshman! Jack Palance did pushups, in his 80s or 90s, when he got his Oscar!😮😮😮
