Too bad they don’t have defensive rating or plus minus available. That give a better idea of how effective a defender is in 1 on 1 scenarios or how their actions prevent expected points. This is something that’s more common in basketball and soccer analytics though.

Plus minus has been around in hockey for years. Not a good measure of defensive acumen though (on ice xG% is the go to there)

He was horrible and nothing but a crutch to start the season, but since November, he's been incredible. He's not perfect, but his offensive game and defensive game has dramatically improved recently.
