  • Hi everyone, I talk a bit about creating layers in abstract painting and the value scale in this video. Two finished acrylic paintings came out of this mash-up of various fine art paintings and I have put the links below so you can see the finished artwork. I have part 2 already recorded and I'll release that in a couple of days.

    I’m a very new artist I found art after a car accident and needed something for therapy I am now obsessed! After my accident I ended up losing my career because of a permanent disability. I just came across your channel a couple of days ago and absolutely love it. The way you explain things make it so much easier for me to understand than other channels I have watched! Thank you for explaining value scale and the trick with the black and white photo so amazing! I’m praying one day I can sale my art to help support my family. In the mean time I will keep painting and working my way through all of your videos leaving a thumbs up and a comment of course. Thank you for being such a wonderful teacher you inspire me your art is beautiful you are so talented. Have a wonderful weekend.

    II do what you say - eye moving around the painting - but I didn’t know that’s what I was doing. I often take my work off easel and put it on different walls mid process and look at it for a few days. Then I rework it and rework it until composition/color/values work. I am definitely going to use your grey scale concept now!

    • @lorimirabelliabstractartist
      @lorimirabelliabstractartist  3 года назад +1

      until you eye is trained, grey scale is a must. I use to take my painting with me from room to room hahaha. thankfully now I'm in an open concept studio so I have good eye sight on all the pieces in progress. I live and breath a painting until it's finished.

      Value in art is essentially how light or dark something is on a scale of white to black. There are a lot of Shades of white to eventually get black. Use those shades in-between instead of just using black and white.

      there are a few reasons why artist's speed up the process videos. We really don't want to show our entire process and or RUclips long videos aren't watched by many and then all the worked that goes into making the video does nothing to help our channel as the video is only watched for a few minutes. So all that being said we have to find a balance.

      @@fmjwest8296 there’s only one reason you would feel the need to comment this and it *is* for the express purpose of hurting the artist’s feelings. If you truly understand that everyone is moved by different things then you’d feel no need to express your dislike and would move on without comment. You made that comment bc something about this got under your skin (jealous you’re not making your own art on RUclips possibly?) and you just had to say something mean to make yourself feel better. While simultaneously trying to hide your true intentions behind a weak attempt at saying “no offense” and that you don’t mean to hurt feelings. As they say, that says a lot more about you than it does the work of the artist
