this song turned my life upside down. Didn't care about music until a boy at my church youth club put this on the record player. Within seconds I was over with him staring at the cover at four strange looking men in a strange house. Could be my favourite album and cover of all time. Still sends a shiver down my spine. Hugh left; sad, but Baz is great, and the band are really rocking.
DIOS.... SABEIS POR QUE ME ENAMORE DE ESTA BANDA CUANDO ERA UN NIÑO... CANCION 1 CARA A PRIMER DISCO. ME ENGANCHARON HASTA HOY BENDICIONES BAZ DEVUELVES CREDITO A THE IV. LARGA VIDA.
i wonder if a record contract today would be contingent on toning down the lyrics - especially on this song.when i heard this as a kid i couldn't stop the ear-worm that went along with the first verse and effin brilliant bass line.
Wow...makes me feel like a young punk again! The Strangs were one of those few bands that sounded as good or better live than their studio stuff...saw 'em twice live at First Avenue in Mpls (once without Hugh...) and they were amazing.... t
@paddymacinblack There was a lot of jealousy back in 1976/77, The Stranglers opened for the Ramones and Patti Smith top ten selling albums (but the clash wanted a cool band with a cool name like them), pushed a lot of noses out of joint.
yeah he does but the lyrics are a bit different I always thought it was Sometimes ther's only one way I got to find ....Not -Sometimes I got to find one way 'out' i got to find .....maybe I'm living in the past when I used to go see the stranglers back in 1979- early eighties !......
Very Good, just wish Cornwell was still there, but still a lot of passion and I can understand what they are singing. I wonder if anyone has any film of them at The Kinema in Dunfermline? I can't remember any cameras in the early days, plus the Stranglers would usually put some poor poet geezer out before they came on, made the crowd wait ages, usually a fight ir 2 broke out before they came on.
First song off the first album: what a way to introduce yourself to the world.
Opening track from one of the Greatest LP's ever made! Been playing it now for 46 YEARS, and I never tire of it! dx
R.l.P. Dave Greenfield
I heard Dave Greenfield and I loved the Stranglers in that order.
The world has lost a legendary musician.
One of the greatest bands to come out of the UK.
I will correct that for you
The best band!
The best to come out of Guildford!
God I love The Stranglers! One of UK's greatest bands, period. And I know great.
Stranglers at the top !
Someone here clicked thumbs down.
May the lord have mercy on his hearing.
I think this is my favourite Stranglers song it never ever fails to get me grooving
dave greenfield superb on keyboards!

Love this track. Still listen to the first album Rattus - every track is a classic

great group been the best for decades
They played the Engine shed in Lincoln as a warm up gig quality gig that was.
That was a GREAT gig.
Rocking along..long live baz!
traditional English folk music will always sound good live.

Sounding good! Baz sounds good on this.
fantastic stuff
engine shed lincoln... would have liked to have been there.
Great replacement for Hugh.
Baz has been with the band longer than Hugh was now.
+Gary longden ..yeah he made a good job of that....
Its a vicious song. I heard them open with it in 79. Great solo. Uncomfortable lyrics.
he's spot on
exactly and has paid more respect to the fans than that pretentious prick ever did

Beat all the young pretenders don't they? Still sounds fresh as a daisy.
Jet hardly got a look in?

Jerry Bailey the youngster singing along at the front are singing the same vocal as Baz.
Smack my face and call my bluff..one day someone should, please.

Baz
A good cover version here vocalist does a good version o Hugh cornwells vocals &Guitar Are they a stranglers tribute act?
Lord fauntleroy it's not a cover version. It's a Stranglers song.
Dedicated to Nancy Pelosi
yer man does a good job in Hughs place but FFS leave the old stuff alone
lanslater I can't see the thousands that go to see them live being too happy when they turn up and don't play any of their early stuff
