I friggin' loved Joker's initial design from _The Batman._ It really works watching him spin around doing wildman Kung-Fu, crazy with manic might.

I love snyder's more horror tske on thw character of the joke, and while it may seem like a trashed idea from the early 2000s, the new and just temporary change was somewhat jarring to me
If he was dead or something else and someone wicked like Professor pyg remove his face for reasons, him getting it back and doing the staples would make more sense then just having it be removed and be back on for no reason at all

My problem with the maximum edge-minimum thought Cut-Off Face Joker is that he'd die in like 2 seconds. He'd go blind, he'd get the worst infection ever, and he'd fucking die. It's one of those things that *obliterates* my suspension of disbelief.
I know a lot of people criticize Two-Face for the same thing, and in some cases I agree, but rarely do the burns cut all the way to the facial muscles. That's just ridiculous.

No, I still think the Leto one is the worst. TNBA, was at least somewhere in the ballpark with Joker, but Leto's was just... what the hell were they on. The faceless one was stupid too. Not gonna lie, the Death in the family story was cool, but that stupid decision they made was still a turn off for me.
I actually like The Batman cartoon Joker, especally the one with the purple jacket, the first is a bit meh, but I still liked his design. If I must be honest I really liked some of The Batman redesigns, but maybe because I grew up watching that show
I'll be honest, I never find the Batman New Animated series relooks for every character to be that cheap. In fact, I do like how simple they are and stylized too.
As for the Joker new look from that cartoon...yeah, its not great. It expressive, but isn't exactly the Joker. Glad that Batman Beyond and JL cartoon later on fixed that design.
Also, I'll be honest I think Joker being depicted as a gangster could work, IF IT NOT THE ACTUAL JOKER, but an imposter or someone who really, really, REALLY worship him. Similar to the Joker gang from Batman Beyond. I can accept a gangster Joker if it isn't the Joker himself, but just someone that dress up as him but with a few touches here and there, as a way to show....allegiance to him or something.
The New Batman Adventures Joker design looks fine but they should have give him color. In fact, Someone is reanimated Joker scene from TNBA to look better.
I'm one of those who actually likes the 2004 "The Batman" Joker design, as odd as that may sound. I personally like that he's depicted as an acrobatic physical threat against Batman in addition to being a psychological one. And props to Kevin Michael Richardson for his voice work on him (👍). But again, this is just *me* talking.

Also the faceless look to me is epidemic of a lot of bad Joker stories, the writers urge to just let the Joker do unnecessarily stuff because he's crazy or because he wants to mess with Batman even if it harms his own plans.
I asked myself "Why the hell did the Joker cut his face off and then reattached back?" That's just stupid.
I do like the way that Gotham did the no face joker, with someone else stealing his face when he seemingly died
There's other ways to do it. I thought of a pretty creative way to do it. You'll see it on my channel soon. Trust me it's like no design you've seen before. As in the way he was used

Gotham was always taking ideas (for better and worse) from other Batman media. They somehow made the face thing more dumb.
That tattoo hot topic Joker design is the most atrocious thing I've ever seen.
I love The Batman's Joker. He looks like a genuine disfigured freak, matching his origins, but he isn't too ugly to look at. His hair looks like a jester cap, just like his cards, and both of his outfits go to fit his "I'm just insane, that's my whole personality, you're the crazy one for looking deeper into it" vibe. He felt like the origins of the Joker from way back in the day, reimagined as if he was invented in the modern era.

If I remember correctly, the Joker cut his face off because he viewed it as his “Mask” and he tried to prove the point to Batman that without his face or “Mask” according to him, he’s still the Joker. The same way Batman is Batman without his mask. Still, I found it unnecessary and glad I’m not the only one who feels that way

On the contrary, Joker's joke was that the Batfamily's masks were not "skin-deep", that they could take them off whenever they wanted.

(I hate the trade paperback of this one, they really messed with the Joker's dialogue to make it less "flitry/creepy" and I like the original dialogues better)

I do agree with you with the Injustice 2 and Suicide Squad versions.
The reason why Joker cuts out his own face, according to the comic where that happens, is because he wanted to show Batman that even without "masks" he is still the same person, in a way to tell Batman that there is no reason to pretend to be another person while wearing a mask. In other words, The Joker tried to tell Batman to show his real face. Of course, he asked him to do it in his own twisted style that at the end made no sense.
And I also agree with you with the New Batman Adventures design. What the ass? He is horrible there!

I suppose that, had I stumbled upon him later in my life, I would have liked him way more than I did when it came out.
I was a kid, Joker was my favorite Batman villain, and Batman was my favorite hero...
We were all expecting great things from this new Batman cartoon that was coming out soon, I was pretty hyped...
And the new Joker that we would have to live with for God knows how many years to come, looks like *this???*

It's a bit like the new Riddler; if he was in a movie or something, or a new cartoon I would likely embrace his new look, but back then we only had Batman:TAS, and the only live action Joker I knew about was Jack Nicholson, who was perfect in my eyes
(Heath Ledger came close to replacing him in my eyes, but being number 2 is nothing to be ashamed of... and back then I hadn't watched the Cesar Romero one, I guess the old show wasn't super popular in France?).
Nowadays we have a bunch of adaptations of these characters, so we are more forgiving when a creator gets... "creative".
I still enjoyed "The Batman" a lot, and when people are talking about underrated Bat-movies, I always try to get someone to watch *The Batman vs Dracula* , which had a much more mature tone compared to the cartoon (think it was pg13 or something?)
It's not on the level of Mask of the Phantasm, Under the Red Hood or Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker...
... but it's still worth watching for any fan of Batman.
Speaking of the Injustice 2 Joker. Like he looks like if Dante from Devil May Cry became the Joker. If they were going for an edgy look as the Joker. They could have given him an voice actor that fits design instead of Richard Espcar which fits an more comic/TAS esque Joker instead of that design.
The Batman desgin is weird in that at the same time on one hand it completely fails beacuse how drastically different he looks from the rest of Jokers, but on the other hand it looks great beacuse that version of Joker is just a very fun character and having him part ways with the traditional image just feels right.
Actually the reason why they changed the design and animation in the TNBA was to match with the animation style of Superman TAS, which was also airing at the same time as this season
I actually don't mind the Joker's design for the New Adventures.
I honestly love Joker's long sleeved dreadlock look from 2004's The Batman. It's not the traditional Joker I love, but I still like it.
Joker was barefoot in the batman. That always bothered me.
Honestly I thought that was cool. Made him look like he was always ready to pull of acrobatics on the fly. Like a mix of street performer and feral vibes

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm guessing the reason he had his face cut off is because he's insane and because of that it's not supposed to make sense that's the joke isn't that his whole thing doing things such as schemes that don't make sense to most people just to screw with them and commit to the punchline of the joke nothing matters, nothing makes sense, and nothing won't ever matter.

I liked the faceless Joker a lot, but it's ultimately stupid because they never gave a reason for why he did it. It seemed like a set up for a major plot that never ended up happening.

I actually like the black shark eyes of “The New Adventures” Joker. It gives him a cold soulless killer look. Other than that… ick! Thank goodness we got a WAY better design in “Batman Beyond”, “Justice League”, and “Static Shock”.

I love the "I cut my own face off for the lolz" Joker, because it's so very 3edgy5me, which makes it super over the top that it's funny.
TNBA is definitely unsettling, especially compared to the recolored version done by a RUclips channel, the Hamill Who Laughs. Both the original colors and the BB:RoTJ/Justice League colors work well compared to black eyes and no lips.
The reason why Joker let his face being cut off is because he wanted to show that unlike the Batfamily he doesn't wear a mask. Beneath his evil smile is no hidden sad man. There is only more of an evil smile. The only one he sees as maskless too is Batman. He wanted to show him that Batman should see him as his family and not them. To me this is a very good design and it's the intention of the writers that that's the reason why he is faceless. You just have to pay good attantion to Jokers dialoges at the end.

Death of the family jokers design was great it actually made him terrifying and was a somewhat refreshing take considering he never did that prior.

I’m one of the few people that love the TNBA joker design. I think it makes him look like a demented cartoon character. Sure it’s different but I love the soulless eyes. It almost implies he’s more that human. I get why people don’t like it but for me it’s a matter of taste
Faceless Joker didn’t have a point, but at least we got some decent stories out of it.
Leto Joker- nobody won, everyone lost. Theres almost no redeeming qualities to that look or the performance.
His appearance in the JL Snyder Cut was actually decent. But besides that he still sucks.
If I could interject, The Joker cutting off his face was to get at Batman. The Death of The Family storyline was meant to be a horror epic. And the idea of Joker cutting off his face was meant to taunt batman especially he knew his secret identity

I have watched bad movies before - but the Jared Leto performance was one of the only times where I was actually embarrassed for the actor and physically cringed at the performance. Both visually and in terms of the script, it was a total misunderstanding of the character.
Doesn't help that Leto was acting like a jackass on set, either. Sending people dead animals and shit like that.
And trying to justify it as "getting into character."
I hate every single one of the villain redesigns in The New Batman Adventures. They all looked so much better in the prior seasons.

Shame about Injustice 2's Joker, especially since I think they did quite well previously with the first Injustice's Joker.

The 2004 Batman Joker has a cool design, but I see him more as a Joker henchman. I hate the Injustice II design. This Guy looks like he'd be asking to speak to the manager with that haircut. Jared Letos design sucks, but the black tailsuit from the helicopter scene was pretty cool. I also liked his haircut. Joker having no face was a cool, freaky design, which lends utself to a creepy as hell smile, but it needed better reasoning. I like how it was done in Gotham tho, it worked well with the facial structure of Cameron Monaghan. Also the sideshow statue with the faceless head seaport looked really damn good imo. I have mixed feelings on the TNBA design. It just needed some colors switched around. I do think that TNBA generally downgraded everyone's design, but Scarecrow was perfected. I like the Animaniac eyes tbh. My least favorite Joker design might actually be the Joaquin Phoenix design. It's a cool look, but just like the 2004 Batman show it doesn't look like Joker.
Faceless joker makes zero fucking sense but i loved how it looked aesthetically, i'm a big fan of that kind of grotesque shit

While I strongly agree on stapled face Joker, I strongly disagree on TNBA Joker. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's my favorite design for the character. I also think the Suicide Squad design was pretty solid at its core, it just needed less tattoos.

the Jared Leto joker does not make much sense to me for one reason, this version of the joker had his skin bleached from the chemicals so i would assume that because his skin was damaged so badly from those chemicals that he would be unable to get tattoos.

I understand your disliking of these designs but I actually like the Batman design and the leatherface design as I like to call it. It's edgy but it grabbed my attention and disturbed me a little with how gross it looked. I respect anyone who hates these design since we all have our own personal opinions. Also when it comes to his motivation for doing this to himself my best guess is just that he woke up one day and decided to do it since most of the Joker's actions are pretty random and only make sense to himself.
Jared Leto Joker is Jackass Joker.
I love what they did with the Joker in the Batman Beyond movie and the Justice League cartoons, where they kept him sharp and streamlined, but not the bland travesy that was New Batman Adventures.

From what I read about the New Batman adventure Joker, the designers wanted him to look like a grinning Skull. And since he laughs while killing people it kinda makes sense. Like a laughing grim reaper.

Very good top five, the Batman cartoon Joker is my most hated, the dreadlock hair and the bare feet is a terrible idea, Batman can just throw some bat-tacks on the ground and Joker is going to be in a lot of pain, put your shoes on.

I hate the Jerry Robinson and bill finger design because he doesn't have his iconic chains, face scars,knives, guns, society backstory and tattoos. I'm joking but the only one who likes The Batman Joker. So much so that I'm making a movie about it. The Live by Night script. It's jester hair. Also I hate Joaquin Phoenix joker it's not the joke just a society cashgrab

He stated before in his video for ranking the Riddler that he wasn't a fan of it. He loved the character, just not the style.
I agree, except I actually love the 2004 Batman cartoon so I care for that design, and I enjoy over exaggerating animation, so even though the team got lazy with it, I enjoyed watching the new Batman adventures joker. Me personally, I would replace those two with 2004 cartoon joker on bane juice (trust me if you thought Arkham bane juice joker was bad just look up what i just said earlier). And my other pick would be Batman Ninja Joker. (I was gonna say the batcrap who laughs and whatever but he can’t really be considered a joker. He’s clearly a more dumb character than Leatherface edge lord joker though)

I honestly think that the dark knights joker is bad. So bland and generic face paint that is thrown on poorly and the scars dont have to be there. Something like what batman 89 did is better and more creepy. But you can do one thing, not make his smile scarred and make it normal

They definitely did the faceless joker in gotham the best, while it didn't need to really happen, they definitely handled it the best
