I admire Brian Regan's clean approach so much the same as any clean comic. I think they're the true masters of the craft because it's so much easier to get laughs when you aren't clean. They're playing the game on hardcore mode and it's a testament to their skill.

I've worked on big construction sites my whole life. Ain't nothing I haven't heard. But when I go home at night, like anybody, I just want to relax & get away. I love comedy & even more when me & the kids are watching together. I love to see them laugh. It's really no more no less than this. Stress free family fun. Thanks Brian for providing it.
Brian and Jim gaffigan in the 00s was the best run of clean comedy. They pulled it off and it wasn't corny or too tame. I still cackle listening to epitome hyperbole and beyond the pale
@@whiskeyhoarder9587 ...I hear you. I don't get it either, plus you never know when Norm was trolling or being serious... but the fact he said it on more than one occasion leads me to believe that Norm really did love Regan. And if I'm wrong, well, so be it... Good god, I love Norm...... 😁

I’ve loved Brian’s standup since me and my wife found out about him. Gone to a few shows of his. He’s one of the greatest. I put Sinbad up there too. It’s great seeing him with a beard lol.
Growing up in Utah he was the Mormons favorite and the only comedian anyone ever really heard of. Not being Mormon myself I thought his comedy was tacky and never paid much attention to him until I saw him on Loudermilk and grew my own appreciation for him.
I am not a big Regan fan, but I know he’s good. And big respect for being clean. I am not a clean guy but I would never dishonor my family by being publicly dirty.
Not my favourite comedian to watch in the sense that I laugh more often watching Louis ck or Norm or Rock. But no one makes me laugh harder than Regan. The kind of laugh where you cant breath.
the seinfeld joke that he couldnt remember went like this. "are you telling me people couldnt recognize that clark kent was superman? i mean, its a pair of f'n glasses!" and seinfeld felt that didnt work without the f- bomb. kinda have to agree with seinfeld.
@@yoshipower457 I think it was the hyperbole special that came out in 2008. Probably got it around 2010 or 2011 because I got a 2010 Iliza Schlesinger special too.
I have no particular respect for a comedian who operates “clean.” I like funny. Funny is always funny. Recently I saw someone comment that Nate Bargatze was a clean comedian. It had never occurred to me before. I just thought he was funny. If he said fuck, I would still think he was funny. But I also know that I am not normal. I see zero difference between the clean comedian and the non clean comedian. Now that no one gives a fuck whether you can get on the Tonight Show with Johnny and do a clean five, who gives a shit? Funny is funny.
Being raunchy can be a hacky/cheap way to get a laugh, but good comedians know when to use these to get a particular point across. I think Brain's example of why a joke didn't land after making it "clean" is expletory of this. In Brain's example taking out the 'Shit" in the punchline, to me, failed because of what "shit" represents and the story it illustrates to the audience. It's not funny because the students said Dennis' last name wrong, it's funny because by calling him "Wolfshit" shows the student's complete lack of respect for Wolfberg and using a vulgarity, like "shit" really gets across that disrespect that a more childish terms would fail to do. There is also a wider contrast between tones of being disrespected with harsh language and Dennis' demure and matteroffact response with his correction of his name. So much so, the punchline might have you believe that Dennis believes that his name being said incorrectly was an honest mistake and he doesn't realizes it was being done maliciously.
I wish that a major comedian like Louis CK or something would mock Seinfeld's dumb view. It's dumb because, yes, the words you use change whether a joke is funny. The fact that some words are funnier in different contexts is not a brilliant insight - a handful of people just feel weird about it when it's naughty swears and such.
There are many dirty comics who are absolutely hilarious, and there are many who are mediocre, who would be even worse if they couldn’t swear. Joe Rogan comes to mind. If he couldn’t yell curse words loudly as part of his act, it wouldn’t even be remotely funny. Like Regan has said, if it isn’t funny without the curse word, it probably isn’t that great of a joke. But if it’s already funny, a well-placed word can sometimes amplify it.
Mark Normand wishes deep down he was a clean comedian. After Seinfeld dumped him he went to the dirty comedians side. And the dirty comedians like Ari Shaffir are literally shitting on stage these days. So…
You shouldn't even notice in the moment how clean or dirty a comic is. If I'm actually taking note of that detail during the act itself, he's not funny.
When I watch Brian Regan's comedy, it doesn't even occur to me that it is "clean" -- it just strikes me as funny.
Pure charisma. Even though he's way older than me when I hear his old specials he always sounds like a kid brother.
Same with Nate Bargatze
Hell…I’m mean heck yeah!!!…..the yellow one in the middle is the SUN☀️😂😂😂😂
❤ Exactly!
Norm says Regan is the funniest. That’s high praise from the person that is actually the funniest.

Right? It's funny that the word "comedy" to a lot of people is just implied to be blue.
That's because it's been this way since the late 1970s.....
No, it's just that almost all their friends are dirty comics

Brian Regan is the best comic of all time
I hate that "clean comics" have to explain themselves, even ones you'd never know fit into that category because they don't make an issue of it.
His "This is not Happening" story about the zamboni is one of my favourites. I didn't even notice it was clean!

Depends on the show 😅😅😅
He's becoming Ron Perlman
Great question
'Wolfbutt' is way funnier than 'wolfshit'.
I think it’d be easy to promote
As family friendly and parents would drag their kids along
The best comics alive could be considered clean. Who cares? Regan, bargatze, and breuher the best in the biz.

The absolute worst is comedians who use vulgarity as their foundation or crutch. Vulgarity is not funny. Jokes are funny.
